Fender Rhodes Piano Bass

YouTube via SynthDan |

Two up for auction.

One via this auction and one via this auction.

"The Rhodes Piano Bass was the first instrument introduced by Rhodes. The Rhodes Piano Bass was used famously by Ray Manzarek of the Doors, who would place the Piano Bass on top of his Vox Continental. It has a great bass sound that can easily be mistaken for a bass guitar, and has an amazing '60s vibe."

ARP 2600 GRAY MEANIE

"The fact that this synth exists makes it very valuable but the fact that this synth is at CMS after just being fully restored makes it even more valuable.

I sent the synth to Phil Cirocco at CMS because I wanted it to be restored by the master of ARP 2600 restoration before I sold it. It deserves the best. Phil has meticulously gone through this unit and restored it to all of its’ glory. Phil said that it is in perfect working order other than one speaker distorts a bit on low notes at higher volume. Phil has new replacement speakers available, but it is a small thing and I wanted it keep it as original as possible. Phil has agreed to keep the unit at his shop until the end of the auction. I asked Phil to do me this favor for two reasons.

1) This synth is so valuable and rare that I wanted to keep shipping trips to the absolute minimum. Phil agreed.

2) If you want a mod or something changed, it is already at CMS. It will save you the cost of shipping it back and forth and minimize the risk that this valuable part of musical history could be damaged."

Update via bachmaninoff in the comments: "Good sound, especially back in the day. Paid $100 from Guitar Center in '94, not sure why the SOS article has it from 1995. Maybe it was released in the UK later than the US?

Yeah, I was really pissed when I got it home, and the editing software was a cut-down version, though it was touted as full (you only had the ability to edit all parameters via a random generator). Still have it, and the manual. I'd still use it if I only used hardware. Midi Quest makes editing software for it for both Mac and PC..."

Update via Astralform in the comments: "This sound module came out in 1993. It did not sell well and Guitar Center blew them out a year later for $99. The onboard sound rom was unusual and had samples from the Proteus 1-2-3 plus other sounds in order to cover the GM soundset. The internal FX routing was vastly superior to the Proteus FX module and any E-mu hardware module made since! The last run of these came in black and looked way cooler than the one above."

Modular Tracks by Joseph Raglani - SYNTH-R Modular EMS SYNTHI Clone

Making an album pt.1 "Girl Dot You". from joseph raglani on Vimeo.

"Decided to chronicle the making of the follow up to Of Sirens Born. We'll see if I can keep it up. I'm just in the demo stage and getting some ideas down. What you see here is all played live (well with a few sequencers). I've found that long hair and funny hats help with this process.
I'm playing a Dave Smith Mopho keybord with a Tetra in tow. Doepfer A-100, Synthi-R, Moog Voyager Old School (sequenced by the MFB Step64) and the Tip Top Audio Z8000 is doing some modulation sequencing. Left hand is playing the melodic part, right hand is tweaking. I only say that because it's a little hard to see what's going on from this angle. Recorded Dec 6th, 2010."

"iConnectDMX accessory turns your iConnectMIDI box into a DMX (stage lighting, motions lights, effects, etc) controller. Extremely low latency, MIDI translation - use a MIDI controller or even iOS MIDI applications.

Accessory scheduled to be available from iConnectivity in Q2, 2011. See it in action at CES and NAMM, 2011."
