OB-8 Oscillator Sync Demo.mov

YouTube Uploaded by ostrakamusic on Aug 2, 2011

"This is a sound programmed on the Oberheim OB-8 using the oscillator sync mode. I set each oscillator to the pulse wave, enabled sync, then modulated the frequency of the synched oscillator. This made a very rich sound and when I viewed it on the oscilloscope I saw these crazy animated castle walls going by. I used my Nexus One to shoot the screen then added in the recorded audio so you can properly hear how it sounds."

Mini Roland Jupiter 8 Synthesizer

via this auction
1/4 Size Model
"From the people who bring the JUNO-6 and JUNO-60’s into this decade with those black custom plastic side cheeks – we’ve got a one-off, non-functioning model created for another project we are now offering for sale. Who wouldn’t want their own Jupiter 8!

First, we’ve spend hundreds of hours of graphic design, taking measurements and building this “pocket version” to the truest heavy-hitter of analog synths – the Jupiter 8! This is an accurate model, down to the stainless steel screws into the beveled side panels, the acrylic display crystal, silver sides, rainbow of graphic buttons and rear panels of jacks and that huge red on/off switch. This actual unit is a prototype for a small series of full size units that are nearly complete (just in time for Roland’s introduction if the Jupiter 80 this month). This model is a solid 15 lbs. and is exactly 1/2 scale (which makes it one-quarter the size of the real thing). It is 21-7/8” wide, 10-1/4” deep and 3-1/4” high. It was produced from milled MDF, laminate, synthetic overlay and high quality paint coatings. While it doesn’t fool anyone into believing it’s real, it is a very attractive, very heavy and sturdy model and would look great in the personal studio that “has it all”, except for a JP-8."

Some more shots of the inside below.

"Though the serial # is missing form the back. I wrote it down way back when and I have to find it.

However, the first picture of the inerior when enlarged shows a board that says ARP P-2805-A Made in U.S.A.

Underneath that, etched into the board, it says 14 - 900. There is also a number inside on a component next to the fuse in one of the pictures that says 2804 - 008. I'd love it if this was the 8th one made, but I think that is a part number. I'd have remembered that number if it was on the paper. Any help here finding the actual serial# inside is helpful. The service manual is viewable on line but I don't understand it."
