T2K-VCF Transcendent 2000 Eurorack Filter Adaptation by G-Storm Electro
video upload by gstormelectro
"Audio + Video by G-Storm Electro c. 2022
T2K-VCF is a Eurorack modular adaptation of the Powertran Transcendent 2000 analog filter. Wavefolded material sounds phenomenal on this, coming from Capt'n Big-O. Op Amp gain compensation means no loss of bass frequencies even at extreme resonance settings. Resonance will self-oscillate and produces a nice aggressive sinewave alone. With some coaxing you can track the self-osc w/ v/oct.
At the end you'll hear the filter output going into a phaser and delay.
Sound sources | Capt'n Big-O + GSE 101-VCO
Envelope | GSE 2xADSR
Phaser | GSE Polychrome Phaser
Delay | FX Aid
Recorded direct, no other mastering or effects.
Check my Reverb store for T2K-VCF availability and other cool modules http://reverb.com/shop/gstormelectro"
"Introducing the T2K-VCF: an 8HP analog circuit adaptation of the lowpass/ bandpass filter from an obscure 70s monosynth – the Powertran Transcendent 2000.
T2K-VCF is a 2-pole CA3080 OTA design w/ CA3140 op amp compensation at each stage.

FREQUENCY | the initial Cutoff Frequency of the filter
RESONANCE | the depth of the peak frequency resonant feedback
IN1 & IN2 | Mix together 2 different audio signals, each w/ their own mix pot.
KB | Modulate the Cutoff Frequency w/ a V/oct signal or any other polar/bi-polar mod. Self-oscillation resonance will track v/oct loosely, but you will need to tweak the Initial Cutoff Frequency (Tune) and the KB amount knob (width tracking) to get there.
CV | Another Frequency mod can go here, range is greater than the KB input.
SHAPE | Select between LP lowpass or BP bandpass filter output w/ this mode switch.
OUT | the audio output jack of the filter
Includes a 10-pin to 16-pin Eurorack ribbon connector
Specs
8HP Module width
24 mm Module depth
14 mA on +12V
25 mA on -12V
0ma on 5V (not used)
The T2K-VCF pairs well with:
Wavefolders or VCO/wavefolders – Cre8Audio Capt’n Big-O, Dannysound Timbre
GSE 2xADSR – use envelope CV for some deep bass modulation
GSE Polychrome Phaser
Delay Effects – Happy Nerding FX Aid"

VINTAGE ANALOGUE SYNTHESIZER....Wireless World 1973
video upload by Outdoorsman
"This is an early analogue synth that I built from a series of articles in Wireless World magazine. I obviously spent a LOT of time making it....let's see if it still works..... (update coming soon!) Here's a link to the original articles....http://www.keith-snook.info/wireless-..." (PDF link - pics below if you want to skip)
Note the article appears to be by Tim Orr of Powertran, and a D. W. Thomas. Anyone know who that is? The design reminds me of a Maplin.

Powertran Transcendent DPX Synthesizer c.1979
via this auction
"This synth was designed by Tim Orr who also designed synths for EMS, and was sold in kit form by 'Electronics Today' magazine." [See this post]
"They originally sold for £365 + VAT which would be around £2k +VAT today. This particular example seems to have been assembled as all the screw holes have been used, but was then was opened up again, presumably due to a fault."

FIXING A POWERTRAN TRANSCENDENT 2000 MONO SYNTH
Mindburner
Update: video is back with a new title.
"My attempt at bringing this classic synth back from the dead.
A kit synth from 1978, this was actually a pretty decent mono synth and was famously used by Joy Division on their first album.
Music by Crystalline Stricture, Vocals by Mary Mc Intyre TONN Recordings"

Powertran Transcendent 2000 vintage analogue synth
via this auction

A home built kit from 1978, it has been working in the early days and put to good use. Now left unwanted and unused.
The original construction article with full instructions to build and calibration is supplied. Not all components used in the construction are as specified and the power cord and switch have been replaced by a Euro-style input socket and cable is supplied. The main printed circuit board, metalwork, cabinet and keyboard are the origanals as supplied by Powertran.
A known problem is that a few of the contact spring sets to the keyboard are out of alignment and I presume to be fixable. One of the wooden side panels has been split and badly repaired by my younger self (Shame on me) see image. Although not shown on the images, the metal base plate is included
The Transcendent 2000 was seen to be a great synthesizer in the early electronic music era, especially by those that wanted to have a good and low-cost instrument."
