Vintage 80s DK Synergy II

via this auction

"This is a Synergy II, it includes a serial port for connecting it to a Kaypro II computer so you can take advantage of programming your own amazing sounds from scratch! A near mint recently serviced Kaypro II is included. Also included is the Synergy voice library 1-13 and Vcarts 1-6 on 16 5.25" floppy disks. I have attached a video of this very item having the host control software loaded onto it (which is the software the Kaypro uses to communicate with the Synergy) and then loading the Vcart4 disk, which I already had waiting in drive B. The included manual gives you step by step instructions on how to program the Synergy from scratch and gives you everything you need to know, from creating voices to loading voices from the disks."

"Custom patch for Ensoniq Fizmo.
1 Part, 2 Oscillators.

Not a lot of variation for the first two-thirds of the track, but it transitions nicely at around 5:50 with some interesting harmonic tension."

Madrona Labs Soundplane available for preorder immediately

"The Soundplane A from Madrona Labs is a computer music controller with the sensitivity and feel of an acoustic instrument. It is available now for preorder in North America at an introductory price of $1,695. This price is limited to the initial production run of 30 Soundplanes. The estimated production time is 8-10 weeks after the close of preorders.

The Soundplane goes beyond the capabilities of any MIDI keyboard. It transmits x, y and pressure data for every key continuously at 12 bits of resolution and about 1000 samples per second, letting players move beyond the ADSR envelope model of synthesis and articulate each note individually, as on an acoustic instrument.

Visit http://madronalabs.com for more ordering details, a product specification sheet, and high resolution images of the Soundplane A.

About Madrona Labs:

Madrona Labs makes hardware and software for computer music. The company was founded in 2009 by Randy Jones, who has been writing and shipping software tools for creative expression since 1998. Randy and his colleagues are driven to create electronic instruments that can be at least as expressive as acoustic ones. More information is available on the website at http://madronalabs.com."

Update: I forgot to mention, Madrona Labs will be at the PNW Synthfest 2011

"Inadvertently demoing doing on-the-fly song arrangement using the 16 Mutes mode of the DSI Tempest. This one also features the Audio Damage Beepcat Beagleboard synth prototype (it's the high-pitched thing I'm controlling with that dumb Akai MPKmini I hacked to act like the Beepcat control surface; you can see the Beagleboard sitting on the Juno 60.) The wubwubwub synth is the Meeblip.

Gear used:

DSI Tempest
MeeBlip
Audio Damage Beepcat
Euro-Rack Modular (TipTop, Doepfer, Harvestman modules)
Eventide TimeFactor
Boss RRV-10 Reverb (circuit-bent)

Recorded to and mixed from TASCAM TSR-8 1/2" analog reel-to-reel."
