M-Audio Venom Sound Design Tips and Tricks - Modulation Matrix

via the M-Audio Venom blog

"In my previous posts we discussed how to get more out of Venom’s oscillators, filter, LFOs, and envelopes. Now, we’ll take a look at how all those pieces connect together. At Venom’s core is a powerful 16-route matrix that allows you to patch physical controllers and other modulation sources to destinations all over the synth engine. Making good use of these patch points is what really brings a Venom sound to life."

Moon Lite, Moon Brite, By Request For You Tonight

"See my recent video titled "JLR" [link] for more details on this patch. Basically I'm just turning on the switches of the Moon Modular 568 trigger sequencer so that it spells out simple words or symbols and then I use the resulting output.

This may get boring since it is a lot of the same, just somewhat different patterns.

Enjoy! :-)"

kORG MS20 x 2 VS NonLinear Circuits Sequencer

YouTube Uploaded by DJjondent on Feb 8, 2012

"Two Korg MS 20 synths sequenced by a NonLinear Sequencer .
Left Korg sequenced by bindubba3 - 16 stage with gate outputs for each stage.
One clock controls horizontal travel, the other controls vertical travel.

Right Korg sequenced by Bindubba1 - 4 stage sequencer with 16 control voltage outputs (CV) and 8 gate outputs that are divisions of the input clock signal from/1 to /128.

The sequencers use a 1V/octave CV and a S-trigger gate.
Korgs use Hz/V and a S-trigger gate.
Seems to work fine though."

Emulation II features a set of unique instruments to reproduce that typical music from the 80s: from warm digital sounds to the most analog-ish textures.

UVI adopted a hybrid approach to create these sounds, combining deep multi-sampling and powerful modeling tools (analog filters, LFO, envelopes, etc.), inspired by the original machine and enhanced with today most modern audio processing and script technology.

Some of you might recognize the Latinsizer cover synth art from this post back in 2007. It's a cool story.

Instrument-a-day 7: Speak and Play!

"Speak and Play! is a speech synthesizer for pianists. It has two parts: a score generator that turns written English text into musical scores, and a sample set (hurriedly constructed from my own voice) which, when used to play the scores, approximately recreates the original text.

Thanks to pianist Margaret Leng Tan for making Speak and Play! speak and play, and for coming up with the name!
