"Inspired by visits to Santa Monica, and always seeing the 'turn right' sign for a place called Slawson Avenue- I did this track whilst experimenting with the Micromac-D pre factory model. I'm also using a Korg Prophecy as a controller keyboard and a 'scrapper' SH101 as an analogue sequencer. There's a Roland CR8000 on drums. My latest project Nexus 1 fits in here too! The Micromac series and the Nexus 1 basically complete my synth dream wishes!...I hope you enjoy.....Ken"

Proppellerhead Announces PX7 FM SYNTHESIZER
Published on Dec 11, 2012 by PropellerheadSW
"The PX7 FM Synthesizer is a six operator FM synth for the Reason rack. As a faithful recreation of the popular DX series keyboards, it provides a wealth of new sounds, ranging from classic 80's bass and brass to modern textures, leads and growls."
"The PX7 FM Synthesizer is a six operator FM synth for the Reason rack. As a faithful recreation of the popular DX series keyboards, it provides a wealth of new sounds, ranging from classic 80's bass and brass to modern textures, leads and growls.
But PX7 is not only an emulation of a classic keyboard. With an easier interface, macro controls for quick and powerful tweaking of sounds, stereo spread, and full integration with the Reason rack, it takes FM synthesis into the age of Reason.
In FM synthesis, or Frequency Modulation, sounds are generated by layering or modulating the frequency of sine wave oscillators, called operators. The 32 selectable algorithms decide how the operators are connected, and which modulates what.
The envelopes, one for each operator, are more advanced than those you typically see in synths, with a number of different breakpoints for extremely precise control over the modulation.
With the new macro controls you get tons of new tones out of a single patch — even without a full understanding of FM synthesis.
PX7 includes a great set of new patches and Combinators with sounds ranging from modern to futuristic. But perhaps best of all: the PX7 FM Synthesizer is patch-compatible with the classic it's based on—and faithfully reproduces its trademark tone. A ton of patches from the original is included with PX7. Our online patch converter takes Yamaha DX7 patches and converts them to PX7 format, giving you access to tens of thousands of presets for all styles of music.

Mystery Rhythm Machine - Barns & Mullins Percussionet 20
This one in via LT. If you have more info on it, please leave a comment or email (icon bottom right of site).
"I recently picked up an old rhythm machine at an estate sale, It's called a Percussionet 20, made by Barns & Mullins, London, England.
I think it may be rare because I could not come up with any info about this unit online anywhere, even tried Emailing Barns & Mullins twice, but they never responded.
Perhaps one of your readers may have some info about this oddity.
It will play all of the rhythm styles such as ( Fx - Foxtrot, Tw -Twist, Ch - Cha Cha, Tg- Tango etc.) at the same time, so you can combine various rhythms, also you can select and de-select the individual instruments in the rhythms such as: Snare, Tom Tom, Side, Bass, Bongo etc.
Rear has Hi and Lo output and ¼ " footswitch input that starts and stops the rhythms.
Add some verb and delay or modulation effects and it sounds pretty incredable.
As usual, Charlotte the cat has her own thoughts about my Percussionet 20, see attached photos."

"For sale is my much loved Roland EF-303 Groove Effects. Much more than just DJ or studio effects box. I used it mainly as a step sequencer. It’s also a TB-303 emulator as well. Unusual piece of gear that has 3 main uses. The effects have great real-time control and are very usable. The step sequencer is great for adding that analogue sequencer feel to your MIDI gear. It’s in good condition..."

Linn 9000 Linndrum Drum Machine and MIDI Sequencer w Minitaur
Published on Dec 10, 2012 by ar2jr - Minitaur comes in after 3:47.
"Showing off the legendary Linn 9000 currently for sale and showing the not much discussed sequencer side of it which is incredible. Listen to that lively timing! This was what eventually led to the MPC. This has the 6.62 Forat OS which gives you an additional 60K for sampling from the floppy."

"This one is packed with lot's of amazing features. It has the FORAT 6.62 OS which allows this machine to load samples into memory and FIXES ALL THE BUGS normally associated with the Linn 9000. It's been furnished with brand new batteries and all of the pads work completely. They are quick to trigger and feel incredible. This is what an MPC should feel like. This unit has the trigger inputs and also the SMPTE card but it does NOT have the sampling A/D card HOWEVER you can load samples via floppy or burn EEPROMS. Contact bruce Forat and he can make you a custom Linn LM 1 set.
The kick drum is also not the standard Linn 9000 kick but is instead Kick 7 which is the superior kick that was put in after the machine had been on the market and people complained about the lackluster factory kick.
Also, because this is the Forat OS, the sequencer is GREATLY expanded and is basically what the MPC sequencer should have been with better timing and FEEL than anything else out there. The sequencer includes comprehensive sequencing over 16 channels, step edit mode or live record, and a comprehensive song mode. MIDI SEQUENCES CAN BE DIFFERENT LENGTHS THAN DRUM SEQUENCES! What this means is that you could come up with a drum groove and play a melodic arrangement that is of a different bar count than your drums!"
