Celestial Objects

Yamaha Tenori-ON, Grendel Drone Commander & Korg Monotribe

"Celestial Objects - Soundtrack to the mysterious planets and moons on the very edge of the known universe.

The vibrations of these have been captured for the first time using harmonic dividers and frequency collection arrays.

Sit back and enjoy the relaxing drones, and let your mind be stimulated by the rhythms and pulsations of Celestial Objects.

Recorded live without computers or Midi.

"Custom built synthesizer containing the same sound genrator as used in E-MU synth's of the late 1970's

this unit is capable of a multitude of sounds, drones and modulating patterns

CONTROLS:
power on/off switch
master 'rate' control knob
pitch shift control knob
4 modulator controls - each control injects a different sub harmonic or pulse pattern into the mix - the combination of the different waveforms creates frequency modulation, phase shift, warping bass tones, pulsating drones, as each waveform manipulates and modulates the other
4 greenled indicators - provides a visual of the modulating output signal
aluminium and circuit board control panels
1/4" jack output
powered by 1 x 9v battery (compartment on underside)"

"My DIY modular (mostly Yusynth) doing Autechre-style beats. A not quite finished Barton Simple CV Quantizer providing notes for the Bass line. The output of the modular is feed into my custom built tube overdrive unit (based on the 'Real McTube II' by Fred Nachbaur) before being feed into the Kurzweil Mangler where excessive Reverb/Delay is applied.

No sequencers, computer or analogue, are used in this recording"

A-155 random drum pattern

A-155 random drum pattern from N K on Vimeo.

"Doepfer A-155 sequencer's trigger row outputs trigger three different drum sounds made with the modular (kick, hihats, and snare). These sounds, along with a simple tonal sequence from the A-155 CV row 1 output, are heard from 0:00-0:17. Around 0:18, I add a 4/4 909 kick (and later a simple 808 snare/clap pattern) to provide a base rhythm. The 6-step A-155 trigger pattern is reset every 16 steps. One LFO changes the A-155 direction from forward to random, and another changes the pattern's first step from 1 to 5. These two LFOs are almost fully to the right of the middle row of modules pictured, and you can just make out the lights corresponding to the snare rolls and random fills. A few tonal sounds were added to the example to show how the drum patch might sound in practice."

Details here. via Nicholas Keller on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge

Update via Nicholas: "I've amended my post, fixed a link in the wrong place, added a pic at the top, and explained a bit how the using MAQ as the clock source can make the pattern even more complex."

ARP 2600 Demos by reeg2600

"Here is a series of short videos designed to highlight some of the different sounds available on the ARP2600. These are mostly (so far) leads rather than effects. The only sound processing is through a Boss RE-20 Space Echo. I don't claim to be an expert on this synth; I just like these sounds and wanted to show just a little of what it can do. Enjoy."
