Fender Rhodes Chroma Polaris Analog Synthesizer SN 300253 with Upgrades

"This listing is for a Chroma Polaris with the following upgrades:
• Old interface panels replaced with new panels provided by Paul DeRocco
• Quad output op-amp upgraded: LM348 -> TL084
• Backup batteries replaced

As you may well know these beasts are susceptible to a flaw in the plastic used in the original interface panels: over the years the plastic aged and became brittle causing the flex circuits to crack leading to intermittent or failed function of the touch membranes. I have completely replaced the touch membranes on this synth with new replacements provided by one of the original Polaris engineers Paul DeRocco. These replacements are better than new utilizing newer plastics that have a longer working life. This is also a permanent fix, not a temporary hack or work-around.

The interface panels protect this Polaris from many of the age-related issues associated with the Chroma Polaris series. The output opamp upgrade replaces the muddy LM348 with a crisper TL084, giving the Polaris better high-frequency response. Some people claim this chip makes the Polaris sound closer to the Oberheim OB-Xa (Link)."

L'Autre Coté de l'Abime

"A one-note soundscape patch I made with Native Instruments Absynth 5 to accompany the mayan apocalypse."

Discreet Music 2013

"This is an attempt at making a patch with Native Instruments Absynth that plays Brian Eno's Discreet Music all by itself. I tried to give it a Frippertronics flavor."

Dissolving Ice Tunnels

"Another 'one-note' Absynth soundscape. I wanted to depict the sounds one might hear deep inside a melting iceberg."

"The CR-8000 is a very nice analog machine from the classic era, it shares some of it sound with the legendary TR-808 and can also be programmed. In addition it has a nice selection of patterns that can be combined and modified by adding and removing different instruments with the top row buttons.

Overall its a very useful studio tool once synced via its Dinsync input. Alternately it can be the center of your setup if used the classic way with its Dinsync and triggers outputs.

I've just installed a set of fresh Duracells for the pattern memory, these should be changed every year or so to retain patterns.

If you were looking for a CR-8000, this is probably the one to get as it's unusually good shape and was recently looked over to make sure it works for years to come!.."
