Verbos Electronics - Voltage Multistage

"In theory, a sophisticated enough control voltage source can replace all of the control voltage sources in a modular system. That includes saw, square, pulse, triangle LFOs, AR, AD, ADSR, multistage envelopes, tracking generators, quantizers and of course sequencers.

It is not practical to actually replace all of these with one module type, but the Verbos Electronics Voltage Multistage can create any of these control signals.

As a sequencer, it has switchable slides and gates on each stage. Gate are output musically to match slides and stepped stages. As a multistage envelope, any stage can be the sustain. Stage "TIME" can be voltage controlled.

The "ref." output is a falling ramp the length of the entire stage. This is usable as a decay envelope the length of the stage.

When the "strobe" input is pulsed, the setting of the "analog" control and CV input selects the stage. This is usable as a reset or to jump to any specific stage of the sequencer."

"In the West Coast philosophy of synthesis, one oscillator modulating another is a classic way of creating rich timbres. Voltage control of the modulation and of the waveshape is essential for evolving the sounds from whatever CV sources.

The Verbos Electronics Complex Oscillator is configured as a master oscillator with an voltage controlled waveshaper and a modulation oscillator that can be used for FM or AM.

The waveshape of the modulation can be set to triangle, square or saw, each with a dedicated output. Modulation amount can be voltage controlled with a reversing attenuator on the CV input.

The master oscillator has dedicated outputs for triangle, square and sine waves. The master output can blend from sine to square to saw to folded sine all from voltage control with reversing attenuators on all of the CV inputs.

The oscillators are analog triangle cores with discrete transistor exponential converters. Each has inputs for linear and exponential FM. Both have 1 volt/octave trimmed CV inputs as well."

"The Amplitude & Tone controller is a totally discrete VCA with simultaneous exponential and linear CV input. It also contains an all discrete, Vactrol based VCF with diode limited resonance. It also has a discrete input gain stage. Careful balancing of the input gain and resonance control sets the mix of self oscillation and input signal, distorted on the VCA input if desired. There are no ICs in the signal path."

"Here's my latest 'extended vine' style jam in the mindset of 'this is pretty cool I'll film it'. So nothing serious just a bit of fun with a patch on my modular.

ADDAC 207 Quantizer is taking sequencers for bass, and an LFO for the braids harmonic minor arpeggio style line.

Clocks from the 4ms Shuffling Clock Multiplier are provided the sequences and triggers for the drum sounds made on the modular.

I hope you like it! Comment/like/subscribe for more videos coming every week."

Minimal Acid House with Enhanced DIY Synth

"Acid with home-made synth and Roland TR-626 bass drum.
The synth has 3 VCOs and an extended modulation section including oscillator synchronization and an LFO modulation selection matrix. The notes are played by Syncuino (http://chemiker1981.blogspot.de/) and an Arduino based Arpeggiator in the home-made synth.

Innerclock Systems Grid-Lock Now Available for Download

via Innerclock Systems

"Grid-Lock is a useful utility when used in conjunction with Sync-Gen II allowing accurate delay/offset calculation between your externally synchronised hardware and the DAW quantise grid with minimal fuss.

There are two separate causes of this delay:-

1: External Hardware Start Lag – Slave Sync External Start Lag is the time it takes for any hardware sequencing device to respond to external tempo-sync and begin playback.

2: DAW/Audio Interface Driver Processing Delay – All computer audio interfaces and audio software processing applications take a certain amount of time to get sound in and out of the computer. Depending on the computer specification and hardware audio interface driver design, you will have various options to adjust this processing time using the audio driver buffer value – less means faster real-time I/O processing but this pushes the computer to prioritise audio throughput above other tasks and it will eventually trip over itself and start to glitch and drop audio. Larger Buffer settings work well for mix down where real-time soft synth playing latency is less of an issue. It also means large track counts and heavy plug-in use will not compromise the audio playback. However, there will always be some DAW I/O processing delay and getting an accurate value is indispensable for creating rhythmically tight productions."
