Audiothingies P6 Virtual Analogue Hardware Synthesizer Demo
Published on Mar 15, 2015 OwenJ1971
"My first 120 patches, programmed from scratch, showing the variety of sound which this synthesizer is capable of. Built in effects only, no compression or EQ applied, recorded to a Zoom H2n.
Running OS 1.04
If you're looking for a virtual or real analogue polysynth you should take a look at this machine - it sounds better to me than a lot of real analogues I've played. Intuitive and easy to use, and only 175-199 € for the kit or 299 € pre-built (if you're not into soldering).
6 voices, 2 oscillators plus flexible sub oscillator, multi mode filter (4 pole and 2 pole lowpass plus 2 pole hpf and bpf), flexible modulation matrix, 3 midi syncable lfos, 3 envelopes, well appointed arpeggiator, oscillator sync and ring mod, 256 user memories.
Strong points: really nice ladder filter which allows you to turn up the resonance without losing the body/bass end of the sound. The filter is very flexible and musical, and works well for squidgy wet acid, deep self-oscillating pads and strong basses.
The envelopes are particularly nice, fast and snappy with a perfect exponential curve, perfect for percussion and bass.
Very well designed and easy to use operating system.
Sounds like a really good analogue synth, I would expect to pay a lot more for this kind of sound quality.

Electro ditty with DX7, RX5, and DVP-1
Published on Mar 15, 2015 SynthMania
"Sure, I could use the 'classic' machines like TR-808 and analog synths (that I do have) to make some Electro, but tonight I thought, why not make an attempt at recreating that early/mid-1980s vibe with all-digital instruments instead? So I grabbed the Yamaha DX7, Yamaha RX5, and Korg DVP-1, quickly hooked up a Shure SM57, and came up with this Electro style ditty :)"
The Wolf Freqs Grilled Cheese

"Akai Rhythm Wolf with the bass synth being processed by the Danelectro Grilled Cheese Distortion pedal, and then processed further into a glitchy wretched demon by the Moog Freqbox. The drums are being overdriven with the built in analog distortion. Download the audio track for FREE here-https://soundcloud.com/hardtek-studio..."

Laurentide Synthworks VG2 Dual Passive Vactrol Gate DIY Eurorack DIY Kit Eurorack Module
via Laurentide Synthworks
“No power needed! Each Vactrol Gate has 1 CV Input (gate, envelope, LFO, etc.), 1 Audio Input and 1 Audio Output. the CV Input hits the Vactrol LED, allowing audio to pass through. In addition, there is a simple Low Pass Filter applied to the Audio Input with an Amount (Cutoff) knob. As this is a passive circuit, it will not give you full cutoff control, but it does allow the taming of harsh wave shapes. The LPF is simply the same concept as a guitar’s ‘tone’ control. Also, there is an LED at the CV Input for quick visual reference and LED light action!
As this is a passive circuit, it is advisable to use a Buffered Multiple before the Audio Input to maintain amplitude.”

"The filter is one of it's greatest qualities, similar to Moog. It's sine wave is pretty amazing as well and can be a saw and or mixed with a pulse width adjustable square. Those two and another noise volume give you a full sound not to mention adjustable and lfo modulated pulse width. There's an adsr for the filter and another for the vca and the a repeat function of the vca adsr is very unique and can bee seen in the demonstration video. Too much to mention with such a little number of knobs and buttons..."
