Two quotes via Analog Industries:

"Details of the long-rumored Roland Eurorack modules leaked today, ahead of the Musikmesse announcement. In a nutshell, four 21HP DSP-based stereo effects units (delay, distortion, 'scatter' effect, and bitcrusher/filter) with both 9VDC and Euro power connectors on the back, along with USB for Aira connectivity, and the ability to live as a desktop unit. $299 each."

"I will say one thing: these will be a powerful gateway drug, as they will be a much less threatening introduction to the platform. But for the real Euro user, they miss the mark by a country mile. What a waste of the biggest and best R&D department in the industry."]

"a strange little toy --- bit like a bass stylophone with keys? very fat tone --- the tremelo has a gorgeous sound - more like a chorus really.
Has a tuning knob underneath so you can make therimin like effects."

The Bob Moog Foundation Interviews Rock Wehrmann on The Moog Liberation

As you know, The Bob Moog Foundation, is running a raffle for a Moog Liberation. As part of the raffle they have been showcasing the Liberation through videos and interviews (see Herb Deutsch on the Liberation here).  They just posted an interview with Rock Wehrmann, who worked on the Liberation and authored the user's manual.  The following are a few excerpts.  Click here for the full interview.

"BMF: What years did you work for Moog Music, Inc. and what was your background that lead you to work for the company?

RW: From mid-1977 until about summer of ’83. I was a session keyboard/synthesizer player in the Cleveland area. The Norlin rep heard me demo a Polymoog and suggested they hire me as a clinician.

BMF: What was your position there?

RW: I started as a clinician, and eventually ended up managing the advertising and marketing departments.

BMF: What instruments were you involved in while at Moog Music, Inc., and in what capacity?

RW: I was involved in the design of the Source, the Rogue, the Prodigy, the Opus 3, the Taurus II, the Concertmate (for Radio Shack) and the Memorymoog. Oh, yeah – and Liberation!

BMF: What do you remember about the Liberation project?

RW: The instrument almost designed itself. If I remember correctly, the [Realistic] Concertmate [MG-1] came first. Liberation is basically the guts of the Radio Shack Concertmate in a performance body.

"The synth is in excellent condition throughout.
100% functional.
This is the version with midi and works very well also.

I have never had any problems with it over the years.
It has just been serviced by James Walker at SynthRepairServices.com"

"PSU upgraded and serviced a year ago and since then it tunes 6 voices every time and very quickly. Apparently the guy I bought this from in the USA purchased it from the Moog factory in the final days.

It comes with 4 rare data cassette tapes containing third party patch sets, the DBM midi upgrade (also known as the poor mans LAMM) which is yet to be installed and a custom flight case."
