3ReV Demo's Roland AIRA System-1M, Demora, Scooper Modular FX

Published on Jul 16, 2015 3Rev Videos and Stuff

"Here is quick video demonstrating the Roland AIRA System-1M semi-modular Synthesizer with the AIRA Scooper (Scatter/Looper) and Demora (Delay unit) Modular effects. If you have done your homework you will know that this stuff is Eurorack compatible etc etc. so I m not going to go into that stuff here. If you want specs go to www.roland.com/aira

In this Video I'm using the AIRA modules in their more traditional Role as FX units following a Standard Audio path. As explained in the Video, Roland did not give me any extra patch cables with the modules! I needed the ones that came with the System 1M just to get the audio out.

Yes, I could have only used 1 module to Show off CV routing to one of the FX from the System 1 but it still would have been limited and If I'm going to show off the Modular-ness units properly I want moar cables!"

New Livid Instruments minim MIDI Controller

Uploaded on Jul 24, 2015 lividTV

via discchord: "Livid has announced that they will be announcing a new mini MIDI controller on the 29th. The Minim is priced at around $150. While you could buy a full-sized Launchpad for that, it is relatively affordable compared to other Livid offerings! Here's a teaser video showing the little devices paired with an iPhone, iPad, and a Mac."

Anyone tell/know if these are tactile button controllers vs. touch screen? Update: they are hardware.

Reverse Engineered Yamaha OPL3 FM Synthesizer in an FPGA playing Descent & Doom

Published on Jul 26, 2015 dagoatful

"The OPL3 was a popular FM synthesis chip used in most PCs in the 90s. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamaha_...

OPL3 FPGA code written entirely in SystemVerilog RTL. Music is played back via a port of imfplay from DOS to the ARM Cortex CPU on the Zynq FPGA (running bare metal C++). Music is stored in DRO format captured by running the original games in DOSBox (its essentially register dumps of the OPL3 every 1ms). This particular song is from Doom level 1.

See my github page at:

The 4 LEDs are connected to the first 4 (of 18) channel key on registers."
