PPG WAVE 2 (NOT 2.2 or 2.3!) digital-analog hybrid synthesizer vs Darth Digital
Published on Nov 16, 2015 NoiselabCH
"Here comes the first PPG WAVE on the market, the PPG Wave 2.
A fantastic digital-analog hybrid using wavetable synthesis for the OSC section and analog filters, envelopes and amps.
Only 8-OSCs instead of 16 in the 2.2 and 2.3. 8bit in the Wave 2 and 2.2, 12bit in the 2.3. 8-track sequencer onboard along with a arpegator. CEM 3320 VCFs for the 2 against SSM 2044 in the later ones.
This unit however has 2 issues:
- 2 faulty VCA's (I guess)
- a horrible keyboard nearly unplayable
This unit has no retrofit, so I'm using an arpeggio and mostly long release times to hide the distorted VCAs or try to use it as an effect.
So no deep exploring here - but this lovely synthesizer has something hypnotic and sounds rarely especially digital, more than that it's warm and organic.
Be the waveforce with you..."

Jomox ModBase 09

"Here I tried to squeeze all possible kicks from this really versatile module. Still I think though it lacks some hammer steel like punch and zappy kicks, even with external pitch modulation. Anyway if this is not what you are after, jomox is your ultimate kick machine :)
0-9 are root note D, 10-20 are A"

Black Cat Goes Modular With Monster K-Fuzz Eurorack Module
Published on Nov 13, 2015 BlackCatPedals
"Black Cat announces debut Eurorack synth product
Black Cat Pedals is pleased to announce its first product for the Eurorack modular synth market - the Monster K-Fuzz module.
The Black Cat Monster K-Fuzz Eurorack module processes audio signals through a modified vintage fuzz circuit to create an array of harmonically complex tones and textures.
The brainchild of vintage synth collector Tom Hughes, the Monster K-Fuzz module has been adapted and optimized specifically for use with modular synthesizers.
In this context, the Monster K-Fuzz functions as a cross between a VCF and a wave shaper. The upper octave fuzz circuitry creates distinct overtones that traditional filters are not capable of. And even when fully overdriven, the Monster K-Fuzz sounds organic and warm - just what you'd expect from a great vintage fuzz.
Monster K-Fuzz module features:
* Variable controls for Saturation and Frequency
* 3-position selector switches for Clipping and Voicing
* Two separate Voltage Control Inputs
* Durable metalphoto finish 6HP panel
* Premium quality through-hole components
* Hand-built in the USA
The new Black Cat Monster K-Fuzz Eurorack synth module retails for $150. Check out www.blackcatpedals.com for further information about the company and their products."

-CALC- Novation Circuit performance through the Strymon Deco
Published on Nov 16, 2015 -CALC-
"A Circuit only performance run through the superb Strymon Deco.
This idea originally came from a piano riff, moved to a (borrowed) Roland JX3P, got recorded to cassette and then programmed onto the Circuit.
The Strymon Deco arrived today after continuously staying in my sights for a year or so and I'm not disappointed. It has a bit of a magical feel, especially on the switch-held Tape Flange effect.
It's also a great master effect for Circuit."
