"Let me guess, you own a VL70m or PLGVL and you know it is a unique and expressive piece of synth technology. You feel limited and would love to unlock the full potential of it. Well, I have good news for you, as of now you can bring your VL70m and/or PLGVL cards back alive using the VL-Wizard.

This newly developed software is specially made for these Yamaha wonderful synths. You do not need to be an expert to use this software. You can start with the basic features and gradually dive into the secrets of this expressive VL technology. You can download a DEMO version for free, try it out and ask me any question you have.

What is possible with the VL-Wizard?
As a VL-patch editor it allows you to Load, Store, Modify, Improve, Organise, Copy, Create, Organise, Compare, Share, Dumpout, Study VL-voices. It contains well organised editing screens for the VL-Element (the actual VL-voice), detailed Tuning, Common & Controllers parameters, VL70m effects. These editor screens allow you improve, tweaking VL-patches in real-time and hear immediately the changes you make.

The VL-Wizard allows to control up to 8 VL-units. With a bit of effort you can also take full control over the PLGVL cards in your MOTIF ES, S30--S90, EX5r, MU128, MU1000, MU2000 etc. With a bit of effort you can setup a poly VL configuration or layer multiple VL units resulting in more expression and realism..."

Korg Volca FM Edited by Patch Base for iPad

Published on Apr 27, 2016 Coffeeshopped

iTunes: Patch Base - Coffeeshopped LLC
Note Coffeeshopped LLC also makes an extensive MIDI Sysex file manager: Sysex Base - Coffeeshopped LLC

"A demo of Patch Base on iPad being used to design sounds for the Korg Volca FM. All sound is being created by the Volca FM, and controlled with Patch Base."

Note the Volca FM does not yet support realtime editing so what you are seeing are the edits being sent as patch dumps, hence the pause you hear after every edit. Note this is a limitation of the Volca FM and not the editor.

Spotted this one on the excellent discchord mobile music site.

MINIMOM from Superbe on Vimeo.

This one is actually from six years ago. Not sure if they are still being made but their website is live. Scott Wiedmann of the Hyve Touch Synthesizer found them and sent them in.

The following is the description for the video and an image from their site:

"DIY electronic box. A one sound 8 bits recording, played normal, reverse and slower to make random rythms. ww.superbe.be

A Conversation with Make Noise - Superbooth16

Published on Apr 28, 2016 DivKidVideo

"It was great to get a chance to sit down with Tony Rolando from Make Noise musically and casually chat through some ideas. Set against the gorgeous backdrop that was the river Spree outside the Funkhaus in Berlin at Superbooth16 we chat through some ideas about integrated analogue and digital within the modular, make noise modules (obviously), ideas about storing 'states' and loads more."

Martin from Rebel Technology demonstrated me their range of modules. My highlight here was the OWL module which include some much power and people can programming their own modules in this one module. From Oscillators, reverbs to other crazy things, all is possible here"

Sound Effect: North Dakota Plains

Published on Apr 28, 2016 SGE

"My attempt at a sound effect scene: The sounds a person might hear while sitting on a porch in North Dakota during wind-swept conditions. The 'wind' is 2 noise voices from the PerFourmer, panned left and right so they sweep around. The 'wind chimes' are a PerFourmer square wave sequenced by the Doepfer MAQ, running through a Modcan Dual Frequency Shifter (which gives it the windchime tube sound) then through a clocked delay from the Disting euro module.

Every now and then there is a 'hawk' screeching in the distance. This 'hawk' is a square wave FM'd by a fast S/H LFO. It also goes through an Echorec pedal delay.

All the sounds go through an Eventide Space for some ambience."
