The Moons of Monday - Episode 10

Published on Jun 6, 2016 Alba Ecstasy

"Back to the 80's! Kind of... This time I start directly with the Circuit which also sequence a bass patch from the Promars - System-1. Pads are from microKorg and Radias, the wobbling band-pass wave (zbpf) from Braids, a lead from OP-1 and if you thought your phone is ringing, it was just my Ti2!
Have a great week, friends!

Beattie Cobell - Treatment Works

A new release from MATRIXSYNTH Member, Beattie Cobell.

"Vancouver label More Than Human Records release Treatment Works by Beattie Cobell on vinyl on June 10th.

Fact said "London duo Beattie Cobell make psychedelic music, but not the colourful, poppy kind. Their album Treatment Works sounds the way your brain might feel after being too couch locked to even wipe the third joint off yourself. Like Black Dice before them, their music is the soundtrack to psychic hangovers. That's captured on Catford Dogs which skips along on queasy, buzzing synths before melting into a hypnotic swirl of analog and digital freakouts. It sounds perpetually off balance which adds to the sick pleasure of the groove."

Duke Student Synthesizes Music & Machinery at Moogfest 2016

Published on May 28, 2016 Duke University

"When Jeffrey Wubbenhorst (Class of 2019) began to restore a decommissioned synthesizer for his independent study, he wasn't sure what it would lead to. Fast forward a semester, and the Duke student and his refurbished Moog Synthesizer 1c -- affectionately nicknamed "Misty" or "Mystery Moog" -- have landed at Moogfest 2016: a mecca for engineers, futurists and electronic artists.

Wubbenhorst explains what a synthesizer is, how synthesizers draw upon several specialties ranging from calculus to psychoacoustics, and what the synthesizer could mean for interdisciplinary learning at Duke University. He also discusses his work with the Innovation Co-Lab, a creativity incubator at Duke.

Wubbenhorst is an undergraduate student in Duke University's Pratt School of Engineering, where he studies electrical engineering, computer science and music. He aspires to start an analog synth lab on campus.

Moogfest is annual celebration of the life of Robert Moog, inventor and synthesizer pioneer. The event draws artists, entrepreneurs, futurist thinkers, musicians and engineers. In May 2016, the festival relocated to Durham, NC.
