KORG Announces New microKORG-S

microKORG S | new Sounds, new Speakers

Published on Aug 31, 2016 Korg

Update: video above added.

There's a new microKORG in town.  This one comes in white, features built in speakers (hence the S),  double the preset memory, and maple wood end panels.  Built-in speakers may not be needed in the studio, but they do make for a tempting portable synth on the go.

Details via KORG:

"Korg Announces microKORG-S; a The Legendary microKORG and More!

Sharp new design with built-in speakers, increased memory, new sounds

Melville, NY - - September 1, 2016 - - microKORG-S starts with the legendary sound, layout and feature set that has made the microKORG a most wanted for nearly 15 years and adds a 2.1 speaker system with power that far exceeds its size, 64 all-new sounds (bank A) alongside the original 128 classic sounds (banks B and C) plus 64 user locations (bank D). In addition, the front panel features an eye-catching new white panel and maple wood ends..

'With serious sound and superior build quality, the microKORG analog modeling synthesizer became an instant world standard when it was released in 2002. The multitude of sound- musicians who gravitate to microKORG can now choose a version that needs no additional speakers, monitors, or other connections to play,' stated James Sajeva, Director of Technology Brands for Korg USA, Inc. 'The program memory capacity has also been increased twofold, and we’ve added 64 all-new preset programs that further meet the needs of the modern musician, including clearly defined and punchy leads, electric pianos that sound great in an ensemble, and solid basses.'

microKORG-S offers all of the original microKORG's functionality, including the ease of selecting a program of a desired musical genre via it’s famous ‘Big Knob’. In true microKORG fashion, a four-band vocoder with an included miniature microphone, arpeggiator, five easy-edit knobs, and optional battery operation are all part of the package.

'As a beginner’s first synthesizer that's easy to use, as a supplementary live synth for the stage, or as for a tool for professional production, the microKORG and the new S version will continue to play a role in every music scene around for many years to come,' added Sajeva.

The microKORG-S will be available in September of 2016 for $499.99. To learn more visit www.Korg.com."

"Just screwing around last night with my custom Crumar EVI with custom Steiner/Cooper MIDI interface, Oberheim XPander (my patches), Korg M3, and Eventide Eclipse. I am controlling the XPander with the Crumar EVI via the custom CV to Midi interface built by Nyle Steiner and JL Cooper and modded/tweaked by yours truly. So you are hearing a mix of the Xpander and the Crumar's built in analog synth for all the lead sounds.

"Absolutely stunning example of a vintage Roland Juno 60.
In collector quality cosmetic and working condition.

During our last run on the Joe Walsh tour, I came across this Juno at a tour stop in Florida.
It was living in a rehearsal closet in a private school's music department where it had been set up since new! Though my current interests lean more towards modular synths, I couldn't leave such a beautiful example behind. I cleaned it up and serviced the faders and pots with Deoxit Gold and Faderlube. Everything sounds great without any scratches or pops. You would be hard pressed to find any significant imperfections in the metal or wood ends.
She is ready for her new home!"

"Roland RS-101 String Synthesizer 70's Vintage - This unit has some scratches and cosmetic wear, but fully operational and functional in pretty good condition. We have maintained all keys (rs-101 or 202 usually have same key problem), tested all keys, knobs, switches, faders, outputs works fine. The latches for the case missing, not affects playability. Check the test movie on youtube the link below." [previously posted here]

"The JD-800 is Roland's answer to half a decade of hard-to-program synthesizers. Covered in sliders that act as dedicated editors just like a classic analog synth, the JD-800 is an extremely programmable and hands-on digital synthesizer. It is also an interesting and great sounding digital synth with incredible flexibility and control. Internal ROM based waveforms are combined to build your sounds. The sounds are based on Roland's D-50, but updated for the nineties with multimode filters - uncommon but welcome at the time.

This keyboard comes with the original power cord, and has some minor wear and tear from regular use, which can be seen in the photos. NOTE: Just recently 3 keys started playing sporadically, the far right octave C#, G# and A#. No red glue problem."
