Blofeld wavetable pad sound design

Published on Apr 20, 2018 once upon a synth

"This is a tutorial on how to make a pad sound using wavetable oscillators on the Waldorf Blofeld. We'll make a patch from scratch and in the end we'll be able to quickly switch the patch from a pad to more of a keyboard patch using the mod wheel."

Behringer Model D - soundtest and first experiences with the new synthesizer (Riamiwo StudioVlog 86)

Published on Apr 20, 2018 riamiwovideos

"After months of waiting the Behringer Model D finally arrived :) Here's a first test session, where I checked the mainly tested the sound. In the first part I played the Model D with the Keys of the Moog Sub37, in the second part I sequenced it with the Arturia BeatstepPro using CV.
After my first sessions with the Model D I would definitely say it sounds like a Moog;)"

Progressive house on DIY synths

Avalon Bassline

Published on Apr 20, 2018 DJTricks1

"There's many Clones,Modular Synths, Synthesizers e.t.c that may tempt you! They can all make a 303 sound! But if your lucky enough to play with a Avalon Bassline ...you may just fall in love!

TB-303 or Avalon?

Without a doubt the Sound, Sequencer, Connectivity, the external filter cards,of the Avalon is just Wow pleasing ..! BUT i won't be letting go of my TB-303 anytime soon.. they are both a match made in Synth Heaven! :)

Amen."

Just Oberheim over-engineering everything

Funny. You gotta fit it in somehow. :) What's worse are the stacked voice boards on the right. Not sure about the OB-X in this video, but on the OB-Xa, the hinges that allow you to flip the top four voice boards up are screwed into the case and attached to the daughter board. The problem is they can get slightly out of line if they are twisted, and if they aren't in line, they can be damaged due to stress when you lift the board. Think of trying to open a door or lid with the hinge not at a right angle.

Oberheim OB-X factory patches cassette data

"Play this video into your cassette in to verify or load the patches. Enjoy!"

Just like modem connection signals from days past! Ever wonder what those "Tape" jacks on the back of vintage pre-midi synths? It wasn't to record your music to tape. It was for backing up and loading patches. I'm guessing 99.99% of you already know this, but for the .01%, now you know. ;) What you are hearing above is not coming from the OB-Xa's synth engine. It's an analog audio digital representation of data that the OB-Xa can decipher to load patches.

New Evaton Technologies Link - Eurorack HDMI CV Module & Sneak Peak of Upcoming "Sonar" Module

Evaton Link Module 2-up Jam w/Morgantics Published on Apr 19, 2018 Russ Hoffman

"Morgantics stopped by to jam out on a pair of synths connected together with the new Link module coming soon from Evaton Technologies."

via Evaton Technologies:

"Link is a 4HP Eurorack synth module that enables connecting up to 18 CV/audio signals between two Eurorack cases over a single standard HDMI cable. Link is a 100% passive module, and allows signals to travel in either direction.

10 mono jacks and 14 stereo jacks combine into a single HDMI connection to another Link module in either a second Eurorack case, or simply to another place in the same case, for convenience.

The top 4 jacks are stereo, but those can each be broken out into two mono signals with an optional breakout cable, enabling up to 18 CV/audio signals to be easily connected to another synth, in just 4HP of front panel space.

Above is a quick video showing how the Link module can be used to allow a friend to stop by and you can hook your Eurorack synths together for a fun night of jamming! (There's also a sneak peek at the upcoming Evaton Technologies "Sonar" module in the video, too...)

A 5U version is also planned, which will allow easy connection between 5U and Eurorack systems, as well as within a large 5U system.

Link will be available Summer of 2018, and a pre-production prototype will be on display at Superbooth 2018.

Sonar, a module which generates CV and clocks based on ultrasonic rangefinding measurements, will be available later this year, and will also be on display as a prototype at Superbooth18. Sonar is still in development; look for an official announcement with full list of features soon."

Perfect Circuit Systems: East Coast Series

Published on Apr 19, 2018 Perfect Circuit Audio

"Perfect Circuit’s East Coast series of Eurorack systems pays tribute to the early history of analog synthesizers via the lush analog tones of 'East Coast' synthesis. Based in methods developed by Dr. Robert 'Bob' Moog, the East Coast sound was popularized by such artists as Donna Summer, Herbie Hancock, Wendy Carlos, Giorgio Moroder, Tangerine Dream and more.

Full of beefy oscillators and colorful filters, our five East Coast series instruments are ideal for musicians looking to explore modular synthesis through the lens of classic analog sound design with sequencing and keyboard control. Assembled at a variety of pricepoints, these synths are ready to find a home in any studio.
