NAMM 2020 Akai MPC One First look

Published on Jan 15, 2020 sonicstate

"Akai have announced a brand new member of the MPC family, the MPC ONE is the entry level stand alone MPC with the same 7 inch touch screen, as well as the ability to work in both stand alone mode and also controller mode - when linked to the MPC software.

The same software features are available throughout the range making it just as powerful as the higher priced units.

One thing that we appreciate is the addition of 8 CV gate outputs - previously only available on the top of the range MPC X.
You also get host mode, to directly attach class compliant MIDI controllers if you need keys as well as the 16 velocity/pressure equipped pads.

We had a visit from Andy Mac who showed what the MPC ONE can do."

"ARP SYNTHESIZER ACCESORIES LIST. Condition is Used. This is a list of the accessories you could buy from ARP SYNTHESIZERS back in the 70s. It is in excellant condition.

I don't believe I've seen this one before. Crazy to see the low prices on some of these including the ARP 2500 Owner's Manual for $6.00, Learning Music With Synthesizers for $7.50, and Lessons in Electronic Music for $8.95. Also if the manuals were available for order, that means they were not limited to the number of synths sold. Some cool ARP swag below as well.

I don't think I ever realized how small these were until I saw the 9V battery slot below. It appears to be the size of a ukulele if that.

"The Sonica was a synthesizer designed by Frank Eventoff in 1979 with an oscillator desined by Serge Tcherepnin. A limited run of only 650 were ever made, and this is number 441."

"Unit is in superb condition. There's a few nicks and scratches on the unit but this is to be expected 40 yr+ machine. I've had the unit completely done over by my synth tech in Feb of 2019. Work as followed:

-Replacement of all the electrolytic caps in the power supply -Op amp replacement in the square wave LFO
-Re-calibration of the Brilliance Fader. Item was removed, given a good cleaning and mechanical lubrication on the bench, and wired it back in.
-Fllushed the Modulation Fader that was scratchy, and did the same for the master volume and high/low level switch in the back."
