Mike Dean | The Eighth Night | Moog Grandmother
Published on Apr 20, 2020 Moog Music Inc
"Earlier this year, legendary hip-hop producer Mike Dean invited us into his LA home studio to capture the making of what would become 'The Eighth Night,' a standout track included in his newly released solo album.
Watch Dean flex his production prowess by building the track using sounds created with only one instrument: the Moog Grandmother. Every 808-style kick, bassline, lead, and Yeezus-style distortion effect comes from this instrument recorded in a single session.
Dean's 28-track instrumental mixtape is now available to stream or purchase. For details, visit https://mikedean420.com.
This video contains low frequency harmonic content that cannot be reproduced via phone or laptop transducers. Use a pair of headphones or monitors for an optimal listening experience."
Erica Synths Fusion Modulator & VCF3
Published on Apr 20, 2020 Molten Music Technology
"Come with me through the complex world of Synthi inspired envelopes, LFOs and S&H and see what sort of mess we can make."
Erica Synths Fusion VCF3 tube and vactrol filter review
Published on Apr 20, 2020 Molten Music Technology
"Smooth new filter from Erica Synths the Fusion VCF3 is dark and gooey with surprising features and a wonderfully natural sound."
Erica Synths Fusion VCF3 - no talking demo
"The Fusion VCF3 is resonant 24dB/oct lowpass filter of unique design that combines vacuum tubes and vactrols, providing distinct, soft filtering. For more versatility, the independent audio mixer and buffered multiple is incorporated in the module, and, most importantly – a CV recorder that records motion of the potentiometer, so you can design advanced modulation patterns.
The Fusion Modulator is a complex, all analogue modulation source with lots of distinct features. It consists of several blocks – two EMS Synthi functionality inspired looping envelope generators with simultaneous unipolar (0V-10V) and bipolar (-5V-+5V), VCA, Noise generator and Sample&Hold. This makes Fusion Modulator a versatile modulation source for advanced modular setups, especially drone music oriented ones. Set lopping envelope generators to high frequencies and have two sub bass sound sources, use VCA to control the amplitude of the envelope signal, modulate the decay time by random voltages from S&H circuit and get ever evolving sonic awesomeness!"

[tutorial] Waldorf Quantum 6: Particle Oscillator
Published on Apr 20, 2020 Synthesizer Video Service
"Part six: The particle mode is the sample player of the Quantum. But you can do far more than just play one sample. You are going to see a powerfull multi-sample mode (with different samples for different key and velocity ranges). Plus, the granular mode guarantees a lot of fun and interesting results!"

OEI Voyetra 8 Custom Patches by synth_nyc
synth_nyc is a new supporting member of the site.
"“All my synthesizer custom patches are hand made from scratch, no editing of existing patch, no SYSEX import, no randomizer, etc... It takes between 1 to 2 hours to design a patch, create a small musical demo, adjust the patch to fit the melody, and record it / post produce it and post it on soundcloud.
I had some success with my sound design with several synth manufacturers whom re-posted my banks on soundcloud:
- Boutique UK hardware manufacturer
- Boutique Japan hardware manufacturer; whom purchased a 128 sounds bank from me.
My custom patches are also highly praised on some synth forums "synth_nyc has some epic Deckard's Dream demos on Soundcloud I don't know who he or she is but talented... Wow you weren't kidding. Great stuff" or "Check out synth_nyc on SoundCloud Incredible 002r rack demos If I had one would try to contact and get those presets ! He also has some killer 008Rpresets"; just google me!
A quick note about me: the DX7 was my first synth in the mid-80s, and I remembered spending countless hours on Wednesday afternoons (off school) programming my DX7 and in a recording studio in my home town sharing my patches with the Sound Engineer.
Since then, I'd always enjoyed programming synths for fun and had the chance to own some (and others) of the Arturia V Collection for real.
Just sharing the stoke of my custom patches with you!

Similar to a Suzuki Omnichord. I believe this is the first one to be featured on the site.

"This analog keyboard has a touchplate for harp sounds and 6 chord buttons for organ sounds.
Unlike the Omnichord, pushing a chord button and then pushing another chord button at the same time creates a momentary combination of chords.
Another thing that makes it even more expressive than the Omnichord is that the chord buttons are velocity sensitive, so more individual notes are triggered the harder you press.
The tone knob isn't a filter but actually controls the blend between two totally different sounding synth oscillators at separate octaves.
Runs on AA batteries or with power supply. (not included)
Made in Japan."
