Elektron Analog OS Upgrades: Step Recording

Elektron

"Step Recording comes to the Analogs! Fresh from its splashdown on the Digis, the machines can now input notes into the sequencer step by step. For Analog Rytm users, you can even input multiple tracks simultaneously. On Analog Four, things stay tasty allowing you to input chords per step. Flex the feature’s power to the max by controlling other gear using Midi, CV, and Gate."

Ritual Electronics Anima dual VCO - waves sound overview with Altar Filter

Dziam Bass

"Hello All.
today I have a small waves overview of Anima dual VCO from Ritual Electronics .

I reviewed some waves and pitch in the video so that you could see the power of this oscillator, in the second part I added a small sequence and also the Altar filter from Ritual .🔥🔥👌

Anima is Dual voltage controlled segments generator. AD / ASR envelope, LFO, Digital Oscillator and more.
Anima draws its roots in the “west coast” analog function generators and updates them in the digital realm. This take allows for extremely precise 1V / Oct tracking (10+ octaves) when in cycling mode, and for the control of the rising and falling segments (aka attack and decay) curves without affecting timing + a few more tricks.

The 1V / Oct input turns Anima into a very capable digital dual oscillator - when in cycle mode - with two types of frequency modulation and voltage controlled waveform crossfading. Cross patching is highly recommended for harsh mayhem synthesis!

The Curve parameter goes well beyond the usual Lin / Log control. It morphs smoothly between several curvatures (including the classic log, lin and exp) without affecting the rising and falling times.

For maximum versatility each channel of Anima has an output polarity switch, making it 0 to + 8V in unipolar mode or -5 to 5V in bipolar mode, suitable for audio or bipolar CV generation.

Altar is a voltage controlled 3-pole, 18dB / octave state variable filter.

Altar The configuration of the filter can be smoothly crossfaded from BP to LP to HP. This unusual filter type arrangement brings out very nice harmonics and nuances. It is really suited to CV control. The CV input has an attenuverter. Resonance is under voltage control with attenuverter as well allowing for great timbre modulations. It is particularly useful to recreate accent patterns à la 303. There is a gain at Altar input to beef up your signal which then distort the filter core. The filter tracks 1V / oct for 4-5 octaves and can turn into a very sweet sine oscillator

Thanks for watching and have a nice day!
Cheers."

"Anima is a dual voltage-controlled segments generator. It can be an AD or an ASR enveloppe, an LFO, a Digital Oscillator and even more. Breath life into your modular patches with continuously evolving sonic modulations."

ElectroTechnique TSynth - Teensy 4.1 based DIY Synthesizer

ElectroTechnique

"TSynth is a low cost DIY desktop synthesizer based on the PJRC Teensy 4.1 micro-controller board. It is 12 note polyphonic, velocity sensitive with capabilities found on synths costing ten times more.
All sounds from TSynth - assembled on Live 10 with EQ, reverb and compression.
It is open source and the PCB and front panel are now available to buy on Tindie."

"This is PikoPiko Factory's first synth piece 'Prophet-mini'! The circuitry of a legendary synthesizer has been http://recreated.In addition, we reduced the size.

This Mock-ups will be displayed on the day of #MFTokyo2020 .

Gorilla on a Synth

This one is in via Phil A

"Couldn’t resist before sending the ape off as a birthday present. As you can probably see it’s perched on an MS2000B (black-blue instead of the steel-blue of MS2k, + vocoder mic jack and some extra sounds), which is above a Polaris II (which as far as I can tell is functionally the same as the original Polaris other than having menus & shortcuts silkscreened in the back right corner, and originally coming with a 100VAC power supply for use in Japan)."

YAMAHA DX7 Digital Synthesizer 1983 + JAHN SPX 1.6 Expansion | HD DEMO

AnalogAudio1

"(c) 2020 by AnalogAudio1

Demo of the YAMAHA DX7 digital synthesizer (frequency modulation synthesis) from 1983. I played it along with a Lexicon MPX 500 (reverb).

This DX7 has the JAHN SPX 1.6 installed. This is a great expansion from Germany, which was available in the eighties. It adds some very cool features, such as "double" mode (2 voices per key/8 voice polyphonic) and "quadro" mode (4 voices per key/4 voice polyphonic), which makes the sound really fat. These voices can be detuned like on analog synths, to make fat sounds possible. It also expands the RAM memory to 128 (4 internal banks). The MIDI OUT channel can be set from 1 to 16 (not only MIDI IN).

I bought the new backlit display from Ebay. A DX7 expanded this way sounds excellent! The DX7 MK1 is my favorite DX7 version, I prefer it over the newer DX7II, because it has the better basic sound, is simpler to use, it's better built, and has a better MIDI timing. And you have a real classic, which is heard on tons of eighties hits."

Quasimidi GIGA-Card

This one was spotted here and sent in via M Me.

Never seen one of these before. The following is the description in Dutch followed by Googlish:

Googlish:

"Before Quasimidi released legendary synthesizers, they made sound expansions for a number of expensive segment keyboards from Roland, among others.

This expansion is the pinnacle of that. 512 styles and accompaniment patches for Roland's E-series keyboards. Roland has released a series of cards under the types TN-SCx-xx where a maximum of 8 styles are stored. This box therefore has 512. These 512 are stored in blocks of 8, where a different 'card' can be loaded each time via the menu.

I have had the E-70 myself and had quite a bit of fun. Especially the Peter Gunn style where that famous intro of Emerson, Lake and Palmer is perfectly simulated and you can vary wonderfully.

So if you have another Roland Intelligent Synthesizer E-something that swallows TN cards, I recommend it 100%!

The Giga-card can preferably be picked up in Zaandam, as it is a somewhat older piece of technology. Unfortunately, testing is not possible because I no longer have an E keyboard. Shipping is of course possible, but all risks are for the buyer."
