“Flux meets Jupiter-4 09 Distorted sine waves” by Friendly Noise

video by Friendly Noise

"Only self resonating filters on this video!!!!" - Additional videos below.

"The Jupiter 4 is always recorded in mono, which makes the internal chorus very subtle. Reverb is added in Cubase to make the sound wider. There is no clipping in the recording chain. If you hear anything close to distortion, it’s all in the sound coming out of the Jupiter 4.

The Roland Jupiter 4 has been rediscovered and established as the most full of character among the Roland polyphonic synths. Although limited in number of voices and straight forward sound architecture, it shines with an unique sonic print which no other synth can emulate. There are lots of great video demos and information on the web, so that no detailed description will be provided here. But it’s important to mention some unique features which will be showed extensively in this video series:

- The Jupiter 4 filter goes into self oscillation. Big guys like Yamaha CS-80, Jupiter 8 or Oberheim OBX-a can’t.
- The LFO is fast enough to get into audio range.
- There is a very noticeable internal saturation when the VCA slider is raised.

Don’t expect nice bass sounds and classic analog leads. The Jupiter 4 is perfect for that, but this has already been done before in many records and internet demos. What you are about to hear is the extreme side of the sound. Be prepared for drones, massive low frequencies, cracking saturation, ultra fast notes and unusual scales. Many sounds will remind you of modular synthesizers, but they were all created by direct recording of the Jupiter 4. :-)

In fact, the VCO is switched off and you will be hearing only the self oscillating filter in almost 80% of the video series. Only in the last videos you will hear the VCO. That means that 80% of the sounds you will hear couldn’t be made with other classic polyphonic synths, unless the filter self oscillates.

Luckily this Jupiter 4 was modded with CV and gate inputs and outputs per voice (and then some). Using this level of control per voice you can use the Jupiter 4 as a vintage monophonic synth, or drive individual voices differently. For example, applying vibrato or slide per voice. In this video series, only three voices were used.

The amazing sound of this Jupiter 4 can break the traditional boundaries specially when driven by the Temporal Modulation Synthesis sequencer Flux, made by IOLabs: https://www.tmsynthesis.com/"
"This is number 9 of a new video series combining the best of vintage sound and the best of the modern sequencer technology in eurorack: Roland Jupiter 4 and IO Labs Flux."

Dream Weeper | Sequential Prophet 10 and Rhodes Mark I Piano somber ambient

video by MIDERA

"The Prophet 10 really does start to shine when mixed with FX. Here, I use the Boss MD500 (only stereo tremolo active) going through (in stereo) to the Strymon DIG. I think this is a fantastic pairing. The Prophet just really sounds great when stereo FX are used. I had been missing my REV2 because I came up with some great pad sounds that I just didn't think I could replicate... but it wasn't the REV2 that was so great, it was the implementation of the FX (which, admittedly were internal mixed with reverb). Of course, the REV2 was good and because it used internal FX that was indeed part of the sound - so the REV2 is great. My issue with it was the filter just didn't sound that great to me and the oscillator bleed was really too much for me (listening back, I think I overestimated its annoyance). But I do kinda want that synth back. But I have the Matrix 1000 which I think is a bit better.

Now - what really needs to be said about the Rhodes piano? It's just awesome. The sound from the Rhodes goes through the Retro Flyer Preamp and then into the Strymon El Capistan and then to the Eventide Space.

Sadly - one of the angles of video was overblown - whoops. I noticed it while I was filming, but I just wasn't going to stop recording. So - enjoy an overblown video.

Cheers

Korg Volca Drum Sequenced With Poly2

"Quick jam using #poly2 on the iPad as sequencer for the #VolcaDrum. It has some really nice features, especially the temporary twisting thing of all nodes is great. Great for fills or just random fun."

"The Analog Four is a 4 voice analog synthesizer with precision digital control. There is a sequencer per voice with total timbral control over each voice individually. It can be used as a poly synth when connected to a keyboard and all the voices can be differently set, allowing for very unique sounding polyphonic playing. This MKI unit is in great shape and includes the power, USB cable, and the original box. Unit has very minor paint chipping on the front left corner."

Octave Plateau Cat Synthesizer SRM II Vintage Analog Synth (NOS) w/ Original Box & Docs SN G1056

"We have been fortunate enough to acquire some New Old Stock(NOS) Cat SRM II synthesizers from Octave Plateau’s last production run in 1981. These units have never been used and were safely kept in storage since the day they were manufactured. If you’re an analog synth aficionado, don’t pass up this opportunity to buy this legendary synthesizer. Once our inventory is sold, you’ll never get a chance to get one in this condition again.

The Cat SRM II was manufactured in 1980 – 81 and is the best and final model of the Cat synthesizer series from the mid-1970s, which included the original Cat and Cat SRM. It has stable Curtis CEM3340 oscillators, an SSM 2044 filter and a digital scanning keyboard that uses a single contact per key, which is significantly more reliable than the dual-contact analog keyboard used on previous Cat models and most other analog synthesizers of the day.

We have calibrated and tested these units to assure everything works as designed. The switches, pots keyboard contacts and buss bar have been cleaned and checked. We also replaced the original press-wood sides with high-quality genuine walnut wood sides and replaced the critical calibration single-turn trimmers with high-precision multi- turn trimmers for greater stability.

SRM II features include:

Monophonic/duophonic keyboard plays two notes with memory function on second note.
Dual VCOs (CEM3340) with oscillator sync and mixable waveforms for complex tones.
Sub octaves on both VCOs for full, deep basssounds.
Four-pole LPF (SSM2044) with adjustable keyboard tracking.
Versatile modulation system to create a wide variety of sounds.
LFO (with variable delay on sine output), S&H and dual envelope generators.
White noise generator.
Extensive expansion jacks on rear panel.
Although this unit has never been used, there may be some minor cosmetic imperfections, which is how it left the factory. Please refer to the photos for cosmetic details."
