Cosmic O (Ambient Kosmiche w/ Juno 106, Sequential Prophet Rev2, Roland V-Synth XT)

video upload by MKDVB

"Recorded with Roland Juno 106, Sequential Prophet Rev2, Roland V-Synth XT, Synthstrom Deluge.

Ambient, kosmiche synth music inspired mainly by old synthesizer New Age holiday music cassette tapes. We wanted to make a Christmas concept album but maybe less cheesy. We tried to make it accessible for friends and fam but it kinda turned into weird Christmas music anyway, probably because we are weird.

This is an edited version of an original composition from the album Cosmic Christmas.

Remix version, early 2022!"

Nymphes & Juno 106 // ACTUALLY Compared

video upload by Jorb

"Nymphes First Impressions : [posted here]

// MY ENTIRE POINT // TLDW : They're totally different, although the seeing them as similar is not totally unfair. Careful, informed programming can help you get where you want.

I can understand why people are comparing these, the Juno 106 is so ubiquitous, it will get brought up no matter what.
And I, and many others, see most of the Juno's "essence" is superficially here ; 6 voices, 1 osc, a proper sub oscillator, with stereo chorus easy to add.

Then, with even a bit of proper investigation, you'll find that they behave quite differently. VCO vs DCO, the relative phase of the saw and square, potential LFO routings, among more.

BUT in the end, the "Juno thing" is not a static goal, or really quantifiable. And with careful, informed programming, many synths can give you some element of that "thing", whatever it is to you in that moment. If the Juno patch has only a saw and a sub, the Nymphes has no trouble at all re-creating the sound with a really impressive amount of accuracy. If it has a saw and a square, with an open filter, they will sound radically different. But not bad. Just different. And often, different in a way that is insignificant to the final sound, certainly irrelevant to what compositions a sound can be used for.

So, there's so much nuance at play here and so many things to teach and learn about, that I view a 14 minute video riffing on an open sawtooth as a pretty huge blunder. 👀

The Sound of Foreigner - Waiting For A Girl Like You - Oberheim OB-Xa

video upload by RetroSound

"One of my favorite songs from the 80s and my last video in 2021.
Thank you for all the likes, for the kind words and for the support.

I used here the Oberheim OB-Xa Synthesizer for the pads, string sounds and the main synth riff.
For the Yamaha CP-80 piano sound I used my Yamaha Reface CP incl. the internal effect section. The bass sound is made with the Moog Source. The Drums are samples from the E-MU library.

The sound tutorial for the intro sound can you find here." [posted here]

QasarBeach Alias development 1

video upload by QasarBeach

"This shows QBIII being developed. This is the first oscillator"

You can find additional posts on QasarBeach via the label below. As the video description states, version III is in development.

New AMSynths AM8325 OBIE-XA FILTERS Eurorack Module

Details:

"The AM8325 module is a recreation of the 2 and 4 pole filters in the Oberheim OB-Xa. The filter uses two AS3320 filter chips to produce an amazing sounding VCF. The 2-pole filter is a state variable, reminiscent of the Oberheim SEM, with low pass and high pass outputs. The 4-pole filter is a classic 24dB OTA low pass.

PRODUCT STATUS: IN PRODUCTION
Euro Rack Module: 14HP wide

The filter has two audio signals inputs with level control (OSC1, OSC2), frequency cutoff and resonance controls, along with two frequency modulation controls (MOD and ENV). There is also a dedicated keyboard input for controlling the filter cutoff from a pitch signal.

Front panels slide switches control whether the keyboard pitch CV is ON or OFF, and which filter mode is provided at the output:
2-pole low pass
2-pole high pass
4-pole low pass
There are six 3.5mm jack sockets mounted on the bottom of the panel;
Signal Inputs (x2)
CV Inputs (x2)
Keyboard Input
Signal Output.
The module comes with a 10-pin power cable and a set of mounting screws and washers (M3 silver)."

USB Floppy Drive Emulator Instllation Ensoniq Mirage

video upload by O.Z. Hall

"Ensoniq Mirage digital sampler with real analog filters and VCAs.

This video documents how I replaced the floppy disk drive with a "Gotek" USB floppy drive emulator with OLED screen. If you decide to replace your floppy drive on the Mirage, or another synthe, I hope this saves you time and confusion.

Please forgive the out of focus OLED screen.
Comments welcome."

Listen to the few that still have reason
Those who hold the truth and is for love
More will come along from the tree hollow
Sever all the ties with those who follow

- Before you lose you lose control
- Lock the wisdom in another time
- Before you lose you lose it all
- Lock the wisdom of another kind

Colors of the fall, a different season
Those who hold the pride that is for all
Those you wouldn't think, committing treason
Walking two by two they look so small

- Before you lose you lose control
- Lock the wisdom in another time
- Before you lose you lose it all
- Lock the wisdom of another kind

Korg Poly-61 - no talking - part 1/2

video upload by The Synth King

"The Korg Poly-61 was released in 1982 as the successor to the Polysix. It was somewhat of a step up from the Polysix, as it has 2 DCOs for better reliability. It also retained the arpeggiator of the Polysix. The Poly-61 can provide cool gritty basses or trippy analog sounds and fx. However, its filter only has 7 steps of resonance and is not as fat as the Polysix's filter. It also uses the same method of programming the Poly-800 and Yamaha DX-7 use, so it's not a very useful synth for real-time-tweaking junkies. The first Poly-61s didn't have MIDI, but the Poly-61M released in 1984 corrects this. Overall, the Poly-61 is still a decent synth, and it can be acquired for practically nothing!"
