KadImprov #19 | Micro Cassette Noir Ambient | Mother32 | Syntrx | Valhalla Supermassive

video upload by KadiMusic

"I wanted to explore a dreamy, lost memory-like atmosphere, in a mysterious Ambient Noir setting.

A lost recording of a conversation behind closed doors rescued from a micro cassette on a #Pearlcorder is the introduction to this after-image. I layered the sounds to give each one a distinct location. The Moog #Mother32 was at the centre for the baseline, with a second recording providing thumping, clicking accents. To bring more space into the soundscape, I used an arpeggio with the Syntrx and a wide delay effect to give the lead part more depth.

Thank you for tuning in and don't miss my next demo, where we’ll see how I used the reverb and delay effects to make this soundscape. Enjoy!"

Demo - Electrix Mo-FX | Stereo Digital Multi Effects Unit | Distortion Flanger Tremelo Delay Rack FX

video upload by Here On Earth Studio

"This is a demo of the Mo-FX Stereo Multi-Effect Unit fro Electrix (Canada). It was run through a PreSonus BlueMAX set in Limiter Preset to catch peaks before entering my Focusrite Clarett 4 Pre.

No processing was done to the audio ***Be cautious as the levels jump quite a bit between some settings!

This is by no means a specification video, nor is it a demonstration of talent. I'm a drummer with some knobs and keys before me. That is the extent of it ;) I Just thought it would be fun to take various parts of an old song of mine and run them through the Mo-FX for some experimentation. I tried to be 'surgical' as to avoid too many peaks and unpleasant results. Then again, the beauty lies in messing it up i suppose."

Xenos is a virtual instrument plug-in that implements and extends the Dynamic Stochastic Synthesis (DSS) algorithm invented by Iannis Xenakis. Programmed in C++ with the JUCE framework, Xenos is open-source, cross-platform, and can be built in a number of plug-in formats.

Key features include:
• Authentic DSS engine
• Xenharmonic pitch quantizer
• Custom scale import in the Scala format
• Ten stochastic distributions with up to two parameters each
• First- and second-order random walks
• Variable number of segments per wave cycle
• Variable amplitude envelope
• Polyphonic (64 voices by default)
• MIDI implementation (notes, sustain, pitch bend)
• External MIDI controller assignment
• Parameter automation
• Simple and streamlined interface
• Free and open source

Xenos was first presented to the Meta–Xenakis Global Symposium, and is the subject of a master’s degree from the Media Arts and Technology (MAT) program at UC Santa Barbara.

Xenos is available as a free download on GitHub."

UDO Audio & Hazel Mills - Bloom - Super 6

video upload by UDO Audio

"Hazel's back with another awe inspiring performance using the Super 6 Keyboard and Desktop.

Taking inspiration from Steve Reich, Hazel built this Minimalist composition by programming a simple, repating sequence on the Desktop with subtle variation. Over time, with the addition of a gorgeous pad on the Keyboard, this accumilates and builds into an uplifting, hypnotic sequence, made all the better by a simple four-to-the-floor kick.

When paired together, the Desktop and Keyboard can be extremely powerful and immediate, making performances like this a joyus and playful journey in sound.

We hope you enjoyed the video, have a great weekend.

Diving into the unknown // How Drum & Lace uses Digitakt to take her live setup to a new level.

video upload by Elektron

"Join us as we delve into Drum & Lace's latest live setup and discover how the Digitakt and Digitone unlocked new creative possibilities. From the perspective of a Berklee College of Music alum, we'll travel through her journey and reflect on her initial apprehension towards electronic music equipment and production, utilizing field recordings and samplers to create new recallable sounds, and how, in today's world, anyone can be an electronic music producer."

Micks Old ETI Analog Synthesizer

"Testing my old homemade 1975 synthesizer after cleaning, repairs and restoration. It's been sitting gathering dust and grime for about forty years but still works, just need to iron out a few more bugs still."

"This set is in very good condition and working 100%. It has just been professionally serviced and with some restoration. It has a custom foot-switch assembly installed so you will never need to clean the pedal contacts again. This modification (not visible) is completely reversible if you want to put it back to stock. I will include the original contact board. It will be properly packaged when sold and will arrive in the condition as stated. Proof of the actual shipping cost will be provided if you need it. NOT SOLD AS-IS!

Cosmetically- Nothing is mint in my opinion and this one is no exception. Apart from chassis and pc boards being cleaned up, all of the black anodized screws have been replaced, has two new knobs in programmable section, and the pedals have been cleaned/ polished.

Internally- Apart from any repairs, the unit has been disassembled and cleaned, all sliders, switches, jacks and potentiometers have been cleaned (no scratchy sliders or knobs when moved), the power supply has been rebuilt (all capacitors replaced), all of the LEDs replaced, the rear volume control has been replaced, the power cord has been replaced, all screws and hardware tightened, has a new custom foot-switch assembly installed and its been completely scaled & calibrated."

eBook published by the The Seventh Wave Festival of Electronic Music

"In November of 2016 the inaugural ‘The Seventh Wave Festival of Electronic Music’ took place across four days and across three venues. A numbering system was used as a statement of intent - there is the intention that this will continue. It will grow, it will develop.. this is the start of something.

The stellar ‘live’ line-up included highly influential ambient industrialists :zoviet*france:, revered ‘Kraut-rock’ and electronica collective Gnod, Ex-Kraftwerk member Wolfgang Flür (responsible for inventing the group's electric drums used throughout the 1970’s), DJ Rusty Egan of Visage fame (put simply, without Rusty Egan there would be no Steve Strange) and Richard Barbieri (currently with Porcupine Tree but he cut his teeth as the highly respected synth player for new wave pioneers Japan in the 1980’s).

One of the highlights of the 'first' festival was an all-day conference with keynote speeches from Wolfgang Flür (Ex-Kraftwerk), Andy McCluskey (of multi-million selling synth pop exponents OMD) and DJ Rusty Egan (whose Blitz Club started the New Romantic movement).

Between 2016 and 2022, The Seventh Wave Festival of Electronic Music has worked with Thomas Dolby, Martyn Ware, Fiat Lux, Tim Bowness, Ulrich Schnauss, Thorsten Quaeschning, Banco de Gaia, Test Dept, The Black Dog, Ultramarine and many, many more.. the details of this unique musical experience which traverses the inner and outer reaches of electronic music have been documented in an eBook running to a total of 249 pages.

For a mere £7.99 you not only get the eBook but have the option to access a companion publication ('Sounds of The Seventh Wave' : Music, Video and Audio from the Festival) for 'free'

Full details of both publications can be found here:
