SYNCOSOFT/ I synced my modular to a 4 track cassette recorder / eurorack / soft piano
video upload by BRiES
"It can be done. By first recording a clock (it would probably work better with a very short audio rate trigger) on track 3 and 4 of the cassette while recording a piano on track 1 and 2 I was able to sync the modular. I used the output of the tracks with the clock to clock STEP 8 and a Dual LFO, which sequence and modulate a VCO, filter and Rings. I could even slow down the speed of the cassette player and the modular just followed along.
Proof of concept. The video is not a step-by-step tutorial on how to do this (I did a lot of things wrong here), but I could make a one of those if that's something you're interested in. Let me know."

"The GX-1 served as a test bed for the development of the Yamaha CS-80 polyphonic synthesizer, which turned out much smaller and more portable (although still considered mighty hefty compared to contemporary synthesizers for live performance)."

Small rhythm generators - instant gratification test
video upload by John Schussler
"There are a metric ton of rhythm generating modules in Eurorack. I have a few of them. My goal in this video is to look at the instant gratification level the modules in this group provide. Some of them are significantly more complicated than others, but all are 10hp or less.
It's not a feature-to-feature comparison, since some are Euclidian and several are not. It's really a 'how hard is it to hear something good come out' kinda deal, without having to study and elaborate manual. Yes, one should RTFM, but on the other hand it's a sign of good design when the interface is so intuitive you don't need the manual.
The drums are an MSW SY0.5, a WMD Kraken, and a WMD Chimera.

Vaemi Introduces XFMR Ring Modulator Eurorack Module
video uploads by Vaemi
"Vaemi's new module XFMR Ring Modulator, designed for Eurorack systems, has introduced an active ring modulator design with transformer.
Vaemi (Volt Age Electronic Musical Instruments), which manufactures synthesizers and electronic musical instruments commercially in Turkey, released its first module Osi-Op (through zero fm VCO) in the past months and immediately afterwards they shared Eurorack modules such as Shift Register, R2r Ladder, Buffered Multiple. Now, after the XFMR VCA, Vaemi, which continues the second of its transformer module designs, comes up with the XFMR Ring Modulator, that is, an active ring modulator design with transformer.
The original scheme and the history of this design date back to Harold Bode. It was designed passively at that time. XFMR Ring Modulator is a more advantageous active ring modulator module. A very large area on the panel of the module is illuminated with blue LEDs and shows the phase and height of the output signal. The input of the module is AC coupled because it is a transformer. There are also 4 knobs for controlling the module. With these knobs, you can determine the input and output levels, the number of CVs and shift the offset of the CV signal. The XFMR Ring Modulator has a very rich sound, very soft and open at high frequencies. The module has 10Vpp input and output. Tamura brand quality audio transformers are used. Vaemi today's electronic music and popular synthesis techniques can be applied to additive, FM, Formant, Subtractive, such as synthesis equipped with a system that can be used comfortably in today's music and a modern range of systems that they aim to bring together with their users will continue to be shaped and developed with new module designs that will come this year. You can browse Vaemi's products and get more detailed information by visiting www.vaemi.net You can also follow Vaemi on their social media accounts and take a look at the promotional videos, features and sounds of their new modules.

Oberheim OB-X8 Backlash Soundset Demo
video upload by Barb
"This video is a demo of a soundset programmed for the Oberheim OB-X8. You will find 56 programs and 24 doubles. It's a direct recording, meaning no FX, no EQ or compression is used. So you will hear exactly what the programs sound like. The OB-X8 is a beast, congratulations to the Oberheim for this instrument !

PPG wave 2.2 vs 2.3 are there any differences?
video upload by synthlegends
"I used to have a PPG wave 2.3 and I also got a 2.2 later on. Then I had to decide, which to keep and I compered them to each other. I prefered the 2.2. In this video you can hear some dfferences. The 2.3 sounds in many patches weaker and the panorama settings of the voices behaves sometimes strange. I suppose that the unit has some slightly issues, althought it got a full service and overhaul. The 2.2 didn't get any service at all. Also the envelopes seem to behave slowlier on the 2.3. When regariding the specs, the transient sounds in the PPG Wave 2.3 played with 12 bit or with non-linearly scaled 8 bit. The 2.2 played with 8 bit. Both PPGs used the same DA converters. Both used the same filter SSM 2044. In both PPG i had the latest OS 8.3 developed by Hermann Seibt. So I wonder why there are sound differences. My thesis is, that the 2.2 should not sound different from the 2.3. In this video it does. Now I only have the 2.2 in my studio, I sold both, the 2.3 and also the EVU, which you can see in this video."
