ARP 2600 Synth Patching Lessons LIVE! at MIDI 2 | NAMM 2024

video upload by Anthony Marinelli Music

"It was my honor and pleasure to be a guest speaker for the Alan R. Pearlman Foundation on the MIDI Association’s MIDI 2 stage at NAMM 2024.
In the spirit of the foundation and its mission statement, I opted to share the stage with some up and coming synthesists. Join us as we explore how to create sounds in your head and the endless possibilities that come from creativity, believing in yourself and knowing how to practice efficiently. I was blessed to meet some talented people before, during and after my talk.

The ARP Archives & The Alan R. Pearlman Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Their mission is to celebrate the legacy of inventor, musician, entrepreneur and engineer Alan R. Pearlman, by making his innovative inventions publicly accessible, and by inspiring future generations to imagine and create. The ARP 2600 on stage with me was generously donated by Ryan Hawkins from the Synth Cave.

"Full Blotter is a ticket to infinity!
It’s a smart little software that can turn any audio file (or song!) into an immense psychedelic, mesmerizing ambient drone.

SINSTANT SPACE TRAVEL!
Full Blotter is a ticket to infinity!
It’s a smart little software that can turn any audio file (or song!) into an immense psychedelic, mesmerizing ambient drone.
Simply drag and drop a file into the waveform window and prepare to reach the limits of the galaxy, in no time.

DRONE HEAVEN
Granular synthesis often works using many small grains, Full Blotter instead use a few (ten) very large grains which have sizes of several seconds.
The algorithm disintegrates transients and time and transform any audio file into a luscious stream of hypnotic frequencies.

REMIX YOURSELF OR…
Remixing your music into an ambient megadrone version has never been easier and fun and using the random functions you can let it go alone for hours.
You can use FullBlotter to meditate, sleep or well… take a bicycle travel…
Use it wisely!

"This joint venture instrument between Roland and Ibanez is paired with the Roland GR-500 module. It was used by a multitude of artists, ranging from Neal Schon of Journey to Jeff Baxter of the Doobie Brothers and was responsible for creating some of the wildest synth guitar sounds of the late 70s and 80s.

The guitar features a hexaphonic pickup that tracks the pitch of each individual string with high accuracy, as well as a traditional humbucker pickup for producing standard guitar tones. The signal is sent through the guitar’s 24 pin output to the synth module where it can be manipulated using a multitude of VCOs VCAs filters, and effects. One of the most unique elements of the guitar is the infinite sustainer system built into the guitar. Similar to how E-bow’s work, this instrument can keep the strings vibrating as long as the player wishes.

This guitar is in excellent condition. It has only a handful of small chips/dents on the top (pictured) and the fretwear is nonexistent. Its electronics have been cleaned, the fretboard conditioned, and setup to play well at low action. The GR-500 Module has been well cared for, and is in excellent shape. Bring your guitar music to the next level with the GS and GR 500s today!
