video upload by CatSynth TV

"We at CatSynth are proud to preset Snack the Cat, a free instrument from SoundIron based on recorded samples of Snack, the feline companion of SoundIron founder Mike Peaslee. There are straight samples of Snack, as well as processed loops and sounds made into ambiences, and in this latest 'and friends' version sounds of other animals. There is also a wavetable synth, filters, and a full-feature effects section. We explore all of these in this detailed review and tutorial.

XFM Analog Waveform Pack - 50 Free Waveform Presets

"I've been using the XFM in this Virtual Analog mode for quite a while but I've only recently thought of a good way of using a naming system that will fit into the X.X.X.X format available on the Livens that shows a decent amount of information about what the presets contain. It's a bit harder to read than I was originally hoping but it does contain all relevant information to show how all the analog style oscillators are setup across the different operators."

"The 49-note JP-8000 is an 8-voice synthesizer that offered an impressive array of knobs and sliders to manipulate its analog modeling synthesis engine. It has an arpeggiator and a built-in Motion Control function that allowed operations on the panel to be recorded and played back."

"Dive into the 1970s with the Crumar DS-2 Synthesiser, an instrument that’s more stable than your average Italian sports car but with a sound that can get just as wild. A synth that marries digital precision with analogue warmth, creating a sound as rich and inviting as a Tuscan sunset. The DS-2 is kept in tune thanks to its pioneering digitally controlled oscillators (DCOs); and its unique, simple 'poly' voice, supports the equally unique mono voice you sculpt above it (highest note prioritised). This beautifully weird marriage offers a lushness of sound that could make even a seasoned maestro swoon.

Its dual LFOs, Moog-flavoured filter, and agile ADSRs are your ingredients for culinary sonic excellence, whether you're concocting the bass line of the next disco hit or simmering up some ambient soundscapes. In an era where synths often come with more presets than personality, the DS-2 stands out as a testament to hands-on creativity and the enduring appeal of Italian craftsmanship. The renaissance is now, so put down your chisel, and carve some soundwaves instead!

This is a typically Italian synthesiser, a very playful user experience with all the expected quirks and idiosyncrasies. Lift-off lid not included."
