Just a Minute - SOMA TERRA #1

video upload by Stefan Tretau

"These are my first steps with the TERRA from SOMA. I am far from mastering the instrument. Nevertheless, I am sharing my first musical experiences because I believe that it is a unique instrument that anyone, whether amateur or professional, can have fun with. Since I typically rely on programmable sequencers and DAWs, TERRA comes as a refreshing change. The intuitive user interface makes playing effortless and inspires you to break new ground. Let's see where the TERRA-journey takes me...

I used a Neunaber Immerse Reverberator on the TERRA outputs to have the internal effect (such as the delay) and a secondary reverb effect. I also added a looper pedal to loop certain phrases.

If you hear any crackling, cracking or clipping, it's due to my (to be optimized) audio system and not the TERRA itself."

The Love for Three Oranges by Prokofiev on the Oberheim OBX8 synthesizer

video upload by Sean Christopher Synthe

"After a long Hiatus, trying to heal up from neck and back injuries that have greatly limited my studio time, I bring you my favorite piece by Sergei Prokofiev, The Love for Three Oranges Op. 33 March. I performed this using only the awesome Oberheim OBX8. At first I thought that I would whiz right through this, but putting all the arrangement down was much more complicated than I originally thought. I believe that I got 99% of the notes correct, but you be the judge. The reference track that I used as a guide for my arrangement was this pipe organ version: [below]

I hope that you all enjoy my effort. Thanks for viewing. :)"

Vertigo Inspired Visuals // 80’s Samplers // Analog Delay Pedals // Electronic Music // Synth Topics

video upload by Saul Stokes - Frequensea

"In Episode 4, Saul Stokes draws inspiration from Hitchcock’s Vertigo, creating a stunning live-manipulated spiralesque video art set to deep meditative, daw-free electronic music. Midway through the performance, Stokes takes a few moments to delve into how Vertigo earned the title of 'First Computer Animation.' Some of his discussion will center around the notable designer and director Saul Bass, computer artist John Whitney, San Francisco,1958, and the Ensoniq Mirage, as seen through the eyes of Severed Heads and Skinny Puppy. Even if these references may seem unfamiliar, Stokes seamlessly weaves music, visuals, and topics together in a highly entertaining and relaxing manner. Kick back and let the music and visual art wash over you!"

Befaco Octaves VCO Jam with Turing and Pony VCO, VCF

video upload by Molten Music Technology

"I gave Befaco's new Octaves VCO a bit of a run, pairing it through the Pony VCF and playing along with the Pony VCO and friends."

See the launch party posted earlier today.

Octaves VCO via Befaco

A harsh and funky take of an additive Oscillator.

Pile up multiplications of your frequency to get a lo-fi-retro wall of squared sound!

You get six doubled frequency pulses, or octaves, with common PWM and volume control for each of them.

The output of each is cascaded to the next one, so you can either have one output with all frequencies or break the chain and get several sums and modulate each independently!

FEATURES

Six bands, multiple of the base frequency.

Square wave oscillator with Octaves selector PWM control and sync.

Range control for Tune pot.

Volume CV control and individual output for each band

Cascaded summing outputs.

SPECS

Current needs: +12V: 110mA, -12V: 84mA

Width: 12 HP

Depth: 22mm (assembled and DIY), including power connector

Aluminium, heat-treated front panel

Designed, kits prepared and completed modules assembled in Barcelona

PONY VCF via Befaco

Space-conscious lowpass filter and volume processor.

A combination of VCF + VCA + Mixer that lets you mix three different sound sources, and shape their tone, and levels in a breeze.

The Pony Filter is built around the SSI2144 FATKEYS™ Chip. Has the elegant sound of the classic transistor filter without the associated distortions, due to Dave Rossum’s “improved ladder” topology.

FEATURES

3 Channel Mixer (Out normalized to channel three for feedback)

Temperature-compensated Q and frequency.

Compensated Volume VS Resonance

2 Cuttof CV INs.

CV 1 Selectable routing Cut-Off or Cut-Off+VCA

Voltage controlled Q

Two Segment Peak Meter

SPECS

Four-pole, 24 dB/octave

Current needs: +12V=50mA, -12V=45mA

Width: 6 HP

Depth Assembled Version: 22mm

Depth DIY Kit Version: 35 mm
