Aly James Lab SY-4X

via Aly James Lab
Meet SY-4X
SY-4X is not only a perfect re-creation of the SY-1's inner circuit, but it also offers significantly more options. These include four units in one, trigger-controlled 'mode scanning,' CMOS circuit 'defect' control to enhance harmonics beyond the original, real-time VCF integrator cap offset for dynamic pole movement, fine-tuning envelope response to match your playing style, and additional features like Drum Kit and Keyboard Modes.
4 Times the fun
SY-4X provides four Syncussion SY-1 modules in one neat package, with some modules featuring additional modifications like noise direct injection or a Custom Mode A. The four modules allow for creating an 8-voice drum kit, four mono synths (coupled voices = 4 oscillators per module), or a four-voice poly synth (4 x 4 oscillators). You can also mix modes, such as three modules in Drum Kit mode and one in mono synth mode (keyboard controlled). In any play mode, you have full control over every voice parameter—sky's the limit!"
Big Sur • Ambient Eurorack Modular Synthesizer
video upload by Lightbath
"On October 11, 2021—two days after I played my 'Golden Hour in Joshua Tree' set and one day after my Morro Bay piece—I was driving north on HWY 1 through scenic Big Sur and had to stop at one of my favorite overlooks and play the synth. I like to think of these three videos as my 'Fall 2021 West Coast tour' 😏

Endorphines Queen of Pentacles Review
video upload by Molten Music Technology
"The Queen of Pentacles is a 7-channel drum module mixing analogue circuits with samples and a very performable interface. I didn't gel with it when I bought it a couple of years ago, but I've come back to give it another go and I'm so glad I did."

UDO Super 8 - Resonance self-oscillation
video upload by UDO Audio
"Welcome back for another useful UDO hack! This time, Hazel is demonstrating how you can use the filter as an oscillator on your UDO instrument.
Hazel expertly demonstrates this on our new Super 8, but it’s also possible on any of our 'Super Series' synthesizers using the same method—give it a try!

MazeRunner | Moog Labyrinth as a controller and processor
video upload by Cinematic Laboratory
"I can appreciate that some of you had enough of that new Moog. But it's such a fun and amazing machine and it opens up new possibilities every day I use it. In this video, it will drive MakeNoise DPO - which is a trick or treat by itself - but there's more. You can patch anything into the VCF input of the patchbay, and when it's clocked, you can animate the filter with the shift registers. When used on a simple drum pattern, you can mute, sculpt, resonate and modulate one or more drum events and turn it into a live drummer that can improvise, and bring the beat back when it's time for the drop. I'll be using Tesseract Tukra for both drum patterns and sounds. Don't let the hieroglyphs fool you, it's super easy to use when there's a Labyrinth nearby.
And while we're at it, why not go full industrial? Because we're civilized people. But not today."

Bass Bot.mod with BA662
video upload by Alexey Taber
via AMSynths:
"The BA662 is a custom made DC controlled variable transconductance amplifier (or OTA) that Roland had manufactured by Rohm from 1978 and is now obsolete and very expensive. There are two types of chip with different suffices; the A version has been selected for lower offset than the B version. They are further classified by gain/gm. The BA662B can only replace another BA662B, whilst an A can be used in either application.
To quote Roland from the 100M Service Manual: 'color has great importance in the circuits of some models'. However there is nothing mystical about the sound of the BA662, it is just a reasonable good OTA chip which is often carefully matched and selected."
And via Sunshine Jones:
"The Roland BA662A VCA chip is the Voltage Control Amplifier IC from the Roland SH-101, TB-303, Juno-60, JX-3P etc. which is a part of what makes it sound so wonderful. These can also be found in the Jupiter-4, the Jupiter-8, and MKS-30,50 and 80. They have counterparts – The Roland BA662B (B stock versions of the A) and also a cousin IC the BA6110 which is similar, and looks virtually identical under a scope, but the power comes from negative rather than positive, and so it won’t work exactly the same way."
Isobutane - Fogfields, 2006
video upload by Isobutane
"There were times when my only piece of equipment was the Yamaha RM1x. While going through some old floppy discs I’ve came across some really old tracks from around 2005-2007. I was surprised how playful and full of energy these are. Technically and soundwise they are all pretty funky but I was really stunned by the liveliness of these old projects. So I’m like…yeah let’s share em. Maybe some people will even remember some of these from the past live shows. Shees that was ages ago… Ok, let’s go. 3/7
This one is called Fogfields and it was made in 2006. Back in the day, I used to play this one live a lot. The beat is an Aphex Twin ripoff...well kind of. The kick and zap sounds are taken directly from a track called Isoprophlex and are included within the RM1x sound bank. He mentioned Yamaha sampling these sounds for this machine in one of his interviews. Enjoy."
ST Modular - CONTROLLER (Four Channel CV Controller)
video upload by Stefan Tretau
"The sound examples are not meant to be musical compositions, but rather provide a rapid overview of the module's control capabilities.

"The CONTROLLER module is a versatile four-channel CV control unit designed for precise management of up to four external CV parameters. Serving as a centralized control hub, it eliminates the need to individually access each control destination, streamlining the control process and enhancing workflow efficiency.
Four slider potentiometers are provided, each offering a travel length of 45mm. These sliders enable the application of unipolar voltages ranging from +0V to either +5V or +10V, which can be selected via a jumper located on the module's rear. Adjusting the slider upwards increases the voltage applied to its respective OUT socket, with the slider LED indicating the voltage level.
In addition to the sliders, each channel features a STRIKE button, allowing for the immediate application of a predetermined voltage on top of the voltage set by the slider. The maximum additional voltage that can be applied via the strike button is adjustable using the S MAX controls, ensuring seamless customization. This feature enables users to effortlessly set the desired voltage level to be activated with a simple button press.
The Controller utility is a convenient tool specifically crafted to manage multiple parameters of various modules, enhancing their accessibility during live performances.
