AX-80 editor for Tauntek equipped AX-80 synths.

video upload by Craig Barnes

"I started building this midi controller for the AX-80, all 45 controls are presented with buttons and LEDs for the switch functions. Pots for the 0-99 controls. It will have 999 patch memories and names and can be used as a master for the AX-80 which means you don't store any sounds on the AX and the editor is in charge. Or normal mode where it just edits parameters. It also acts as a usb to MIDI converter so you can play the AX over USB from your DAW. I've also mapped CC 7 for volume to CC 96 (VCA level) to act as a volume control."

Hacking the SCI Model 800 Sequencer (Part 1: Manipulating clocks)

From ty hodson @ sublevel9 lab

"First in a planned three-part series diving deep into one of Sequential Circuits' first products: the Model 800 Sequencer.

Get far more out of this surprisingly great sequencer by building a custom cable for using one or two simultaneous external clock sources, or for incorporating the 800 into a larger multi-sequencer array."

Introducing Nudlhed's Noodle Rider

video uploads by Nudlhed

This one was spotted and sent in via Meska, whom I thank for giving me the opportunity for one of the silliest titles for a post to date.

via Nudlhed

"Noodle Rider is an analog musical instrument in Eurorack format, based on a four-track cassette tape player and modular synth. It modulates the pre-recorded audio loops from all four tracks of a cassette tape record, all of which are played simultaneously with the same controllable speed. Each track represents a certain voice of the instrument, that can be used as the source signals for further sound processing. It supports for pitch controlling through control voltages or programmable MIDI interface."

"IN A NUTSHELL
Noodle Rider modulates the pre-recorded single tones or audio loops from all four tracks of a cassette tape record, all of which are played simultaneously with the same controllable speed. Each track represents a certain voice of the instrument, that can be used as the source signals for further sound processing, such as envelope control, filtering and so on.

It supports for pitch controlling through control voltages or programmable MIDI interface and allows amplitude modulation for each track on final output.

By switching between cassette tape tracks, modulating them individually, and adjusting the playback speed, you can create different sound patterns, melodies, and even complete instrumental parts.

The instrument is a combination of two modules:

Base module, the player itself and the extension module Sidecar that provides envelope modulations and the gates sequencing to trigger them:

BASE MODULE
A eurorack four-track cassette player with variable-speed playback controlled by voltages or MIDI, including four audio outputs and one gate output. It is designed to be expanded and incorporated into other Eurorack modules or Noodle Rider extension modules.

SIDECAR MODULE
The extension, a 4-channel VCA controlled by envelope generators (AD/AR), with MIDI Gate Sequencer and Mixer built in. It is designed primarily to create gate controlled sounds when fed with the base module audio source, but can be used for other tasks in your modular system."

Crazy Good Modulation with Juniper and Gin by Mnemonic Devices

video upload by MATTHS

"Creating complex mind bending waveforms has never been easier.

Juniper is an 8 channel clock and modulation source with a powerful modulation matrix giving it the capability to generate complex waveforms.

Waveform generation parameters such as frequency, amplitude, offset, morph and many more can be individually modulated with modulation sources including all 8 internal channels as well as 4 assignable inputs, allowing Juniper to create mind bending relationships between output channels.

Each of the 8 output channels can be recorded directly to the SDCard with time quantization, allowing Juniper to behave as an intuitive CV looper for both internal and external CV sources.

The highly responsive OLED display features an oscilloscope for visualisation of output signals and modulation sources.

All this functionality including 8 LED buttons to quickly navigate channels and their waveform settings, packed into a modest size of 8HP, Juniper is an ideal modulation and CV looping workhorse for modular systems big and small.

First Look! Korg's new multi/poly Virtual Analog Synthesizer!

video upload by mutech.media.australia

"Australian synth legend Dean Walliss (Synth Sound Designer, Touring Musician and Session Synthesist for The Church and Real Life) introduces us to the Korg mutli/poly, their new Virtual Analog Synthesizer. Here's the low-down:

Developed by KORG R&D in California, the multi/poly is inspired by the legendary KORG Mono/Poly. While adopting some of the features that popularized the original Mono/Poly, the new multi/poly is a completely new synth designed to be the ultimate VA synthesizer. It features a completely new, powerful sound engine that simulates analog feel and sound to a level of detail unparalleled in digital synthesizers or virtual synths.

With a mix of East—and West-coast style oscillators, a wide selection of next-generation modelled filters, innovative functions like Layer Rotation, KAOSS Physics, Motion Sequencing 2.0, and a massive amount of modulation possibilities, multi-poly delivers the ultimate synth experience for all synth fans and musicians."

Korg Wavestate Vangelis Vintage Analog Presets. Sound Demo

video upload by Anton Anru

"Analog Era is a collection of 50 presets for the Korg Wavestate synthesizer, featuring 9 arpeggios, 6 brasses, 6 basses, 6 keys, 9 leads, 5 pads, 2 sequences, and 7 strings.
📼 This sound bank draws inspiration from the iconic sound of Vangelis, the legendary composer behind numerous film soundtracks, most notably Blade Runner. Vangelis' signature style is also prominent in his works from the 1970s, such as Spiral, Albedo 0.39, Earth, and others.

📬 Get the soundset: https://antonanru.sellfy.store/p/wave...

📻 This sound was heavily shaped by the pre-digital era, where electronic music relied on analog synthesizers like the Moog Minimoog, ARP Odyssey, Yamaha CS series, Roland Jupiter series, Korg MS-20, Sequential Circuits Prophet-5, and more. Unlike the crystal-clear precision of digital sounds, analog is characterized by warmth, detuning, and subtle distortion, creating a rich texture.
I aimed to recreate the essence of this era and sound in the "Analog Era" soundset.

📸 Analog sound remains highly relevant today and is in great demand across various musical styles. Many sound designers strive to emulate it using modern instruments and plugins because it evokes strong nostalgia and emotional connections, taking listeners back to their childhoods, retro music, and classic films.

🎹 Although the Korg Wavestate is a digital synthesizer, it offers a wide range of features that allow for an accurate emulation of vintage analog sounds. It includes an extensive collection of waveforms and timbres, analog filter emulations, and a variety of effects. I worked to maximize these capabilities to craft the "Analog Era" soundset.

🧿 These performances are perfect for genres such as Synthwave, Retrowave, Synth-Pop, Ambient, New Age, Cinematic, Electronica, Pop, Techno, Industrial, Psytrance, Garage, Progressive, House, Experimental, Breaks, and Drum and Bass. They also work well for movie soundtracks, games, apps, digital art, sound art live performances, and VR landscapes, providing the retro atmosphere that many projects require.

Mishima / Closing [Synth Rock Cover]

video upload by Amie Waters

"Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters is one of the best biopics of all time and after watching it I couldn't stop thinking about the film and its amazing soundtrack from Philip Glass. Fun fact, this song was also featured in an episode of Bob's Burgers!

The first half of the cover plays things pretty close to the original, but I wanted to do something else with it and I got this idea in my head that I really wasn't sure if it would work out, but after hours of fuzz bass and drum programming, I think it turned out pretty dang cool. Also, if you have seen the movie, you understand why the colors change as the song progresses. Filming with four distinct lighting setups was very challenging. I ended up with close to 700 gb of raw footage to edit, and that bit ending made every step of the process 4x more difficult. But, I really think it all paid off."

California 24 and I-980: The East Bay's Most Scenic Freeway

video upload by CatSynth TV

"We take a ride along one of the Bay Area's most scenic freeways, California Highway 24. Branching off from I-680 in Walnut Creek, it heads west through a verdant landscape of hills and small towns. It crosses the Berkeley/Oakland hills through the Caldecott Tunnel and then emerges into Oakland with views of the East Bay and even San Francisco.

Passing Interstate 580, California 24 transitions to Interstate 980 through downtown Oakland, ending at Interstate 880 which continues through the city's southwestern industrial area and onward towards San Jose.

The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system runs along the median of CA 24 for much of length, both in the eastern section and in Oakland.
