The Fender Chroma Polaris is an interesting synth, made by CBS Fender after they took over ARP instruments. It was marketed as a smaller hybrid version of the Rhodes Chroma, and featured more slide potentiometers with the same style membrane buttons as the Rhodes Chroma. The synth has a remarkably pleasant sound and features dual oscillators, dual envelope generators, a smooth analog filter, and generous modulation routings.

The membrane buttons are less than reliable, and along with its rather heavy weight, probably kept the Polaris from gaining wide spread popularity.

It features Curtis Electromusic Specialties chips (CEM3372, CEM3374) which is found on other vintage synthesizers from that era including: Akai AX80/VX600, Oberheim Xpander/Matrix 12, Sequential Prophet 600/Prophet T8, and Simmons Drums."

"This is my first time taking out my new Oberheim TEO-5 instead of my usual OB-6. All sounds besides the drum and vocal samples are created live on the TEO-5.

I'm really enjoying the compact form factor and more modern sound of the TEO. I was surprised when I first got it to find that it sounds more like an OB-X8 than an OB-6 though I have never owned one. That is just based on my experience playing the X8 in a showroom. Looking forward to exploring this synth more and bringing it out for more jams.

"Just serviced vintage ARP model 1621 sequencer available for sale! It's a fantastic, versatile sequencer with various gate outputs, pulse width modulation, cv input and much more. The quantizer circuits are the most innovative aspect of this sequencer. Arpeggios and other patterns can be programmed at any speed and it can produce up to sixteen single voice notes controlled by one quantizer (16/1), or up to eight two-note chords controlled by two quantizers (8/2), for rich harmonic textures. Also, the clock speed can be modulated by a cv which makes it possible to run it very fast. And what about the random mode? This is one of the best hardware sequencers around."
