Dynacord EC-280 analog BBD echo / reverb (+ Elka OMB5)

video upload by ohm_studi_ohm

"EC280 FOR SALE HERE: https://www.ebay.com/itm/306026834216
https://reverb.com/item/86584891/

Here is an overview of this singular analog delay. The EC280 was allegedly the very first bucket brigade device delay around. I don't know about that but it was the first Dynacord released and it paved the way for their futur classic units like VRS 23, SRS 56 or TAM 19 / 21.
What makes this unit special is the use of BBD chipsets to create reverb spaces. The result are totally unatural reverbs but that are extremely deep and beautiful. The sound is dark and dense, and a bit gritty, you wont't get very define repetition out of this echo unit but it really glues the instrument you run into it. It further has a 'chorus" level that acts peculiarly too since you can't set the time of the chorus, it is tied to the delay 'speed'. With this chorus knob, fast speed setting and high feedback level ('regeneration') you almost go to flanger territories.
A very unique device it is."

"This is the rare first non tape delay produced by Dynacord. It uses 8 Philips TDA 1022 bucket brigade device chipsets and offers echo and reverb mode, along with some kind of modulation labelled chorus, very much like the modulation that will be found later on in units like Dynacord VRS23, Yamaha E1010 or Ibanez AD202, here in its simpliest form, the speed of the modulation cannot be set and is tied to the speed of the delay, thus giving some very strange possible effect. The sound is very deep and dark, the reverb mode in particular is magnificient.

The unit was serviced: every single electrolityc capacitors were replaced, everything was cleaned and it is calibrated. It is in fully working order and in very good cosmetic condition, with only minor signs of wear."

CPM DS 2 Filter and Waveshapes

video upload by Stylophone

"Introducing the first of our compact portable modular (CPM) range, the Stylophone DS-2 Analog Drone Synth. Your portal to endless soundscapes, pulsating rhythms, and cosmic exploration.

0:00 - Filter 1 and 2 are set to different types (LP and HP) and are slowly controlled by the Ultra LFO in different directions to create a phaser like sound.
1:00 - Filter 2's resonance is set to maximum and patched into filter 1's cutoff input. This creates vibrato when filter 2's cutoff is low but metallic tones as it's turned up.
2:12 - The whole output of drone 2 is controlling filter 1's cutoff in a similar way to the previous patch but this time osc 1 cannot be heard, instead only the self resonating output of filter 1 is audible creating some discordant sounds.
3:15 - Waveshapes and filter cutoffs are modulated with the Ultra LFO so only tonal variation is produced. Tweaking the time knob with delay set to max creates a chaotically wonky effect."

Zoxnoxious: The Four Voice Cards

video upload by Ultratroninator 3000

"Four voice cards developed (so far!). And their VCV Rack interfaces.

Up til now the voice cards were named based on the analog chip the card was designed around. The Z3340 for the Curtis / Alfa Rpar 3340 VCO, Z3372 for the Curtis / AS3372 chip, and the Z5524 for the Curtis / Alfa Rpar 3394 + SSI2130 (3394 + 2140 = 5524). A boring but technically accurate description.

The most recent card could have been named Z2140, for the SSI2140 filter chip. Or 2040, after the SSM chip it originated from. Z4330 would have also been acceptable given it's core function is SSI2140 + SSI2190 chips. However, nothing better describes its function than Pole Dancer. It's a rarity and deserves a name better describing the function. Take a great sounding analog filter, add voltage controlled mixing of the filter poles, and you've got the Pole Dancer. This voice card does a good job of realizing many many filter types. Lowpass, highpass, bandpass, notch, allpass. Along with morphing between them. Not to mention it has options for resonance compensation, something not present on other '2140 implementations. So boom. Baby. Boom.
