"SurgeXT offers a wide range of synthesis techniques in a single engine, including traditional subtractive synthesis, FM, wavetable, linear phase distortion, and waveshaping.

Each voice has three oscillators, each with up to 12 oscillator models. Independent tuning and unison capabilities allow for extremely versatile sound creation.

The filter section has multiple modes, including digital, analog modeling, combo, and feedback, and offers over 12 filter algorithms to choose from. In addition, 24 modulation sources and up to 171 modulation targets allow for highly dynamic control over sonic transformations.

Over 30 built-in effects are available, with flexible parallel/series connections and multiple slot routing. VST3/AU/LV2 compatibility and native operation on Linux, Windows, and macOS.

"I’ve released my new app RollBud for DJ style rolls and trance gate effects.

- The XY-pad is customizable for both X-axis (beat lengths) and Y-axis (envelope or mix controls), and it’s also MIDI controllable.

- You can record your movements and play them back. They are saved in iCloud and also the recordings can be triggered with MIDI as well.

- The roll mode has a reversed roll mode playing the loops backwards, and the trance gate mode has a inverted envelope mode for fun.

- Envelope’s rise and fall ratio, curve (logarithmic to linear to exponential) and amount, as well as the dry/wet mix can be set on the UI.

More technical details on the effects:

- Roll mode: records the input signal and starts to loop the last beat from the recorded buffer. The loop length is selected on the xy-pad. Applies the envelope on the each loop. The live signal continues to run underneath and with the dry/wet mix you can balance the mix as you’d like.

- Trance gate: applies the envelope to the live input signal. The envelope duration is selected on the xy-pad. You can use the dry/wet mix to balance the intensity of the effect."

"This synth has some cosmetic wear in the expected places (shown in pictures), showing its age; but all features function as they should for a normal working unit. The keyboard includes a rock solid Anvil case made to the measurements of the AX-80 to keep it safe and sound to and from gigs.

The synth has recently been serviced and checked to ensure proper functionality as per the Akai Service manual.

Fresh 3 volt memory battery installed, all 8 voice output levels calibrated via trim pots, 6 new keys and return springs installed, keyboard contacts cleaned, power supply voltages inspected, all PCB solder joints inspected (any cold/cracked joints resoldered), all ribbon cable connections cleaned and secured, all hardware tightened snug, and a general cleaning inside and out.

All voice chips are the original CEM3372 ICs with matching lot (8425) and type (B) designations. CPU ROM (IC4) is the factory D2764 D chip, noted program version I

8 Voices w/ 2 DCOs and 1 Sub Oscillator per voice"

"Have a chance at this amazing, vintage fully-analog groove box. It's got three parts, a CR-78 style Drum Machine with 20 patterns and 9 muteable drum parts. It's got a acid-tastic synth-bass section. A sweet Strings section and a auto-Chord section.

It comes with it's original Volume pedal and Footpedal keyboard controller as well. Works and sounds great, it's a machine that simply brings out your creativity. There's plenty of youtube videos around of them and I think it's a great purchase for a synth-geek or a guitarist looking for that vintage sound."
