Finally a decent video on the GODWIN DRUMMAKER 32

video upload by Vintage Audio Institute Italia

""Many find it attractive" reads the gushing review in british music mag Muzines in February 1983 : https://www.muzines.co.uk/articles/go...
The reviewer makes the point that it sounds too good to be a typical auto-accompaniment section from an organ and damnit if that ain't right.
Punchy drums, futuristic synth arpeggios, separate audio outputs and individual volumes for most drum sounds.

We finally found a Godwin Drummaker 32 and its even rarer keyboard 32 K and we think the internet deserves a high quality video of its sounds and functions since the ones out there might leave more to be desired.

Most of the specific information and specs are in the video text so please have a look but a quick summary would go a little something like this :

The successor to the Drummaker 45 share all the original features but got an upgrade with completely new sounds in every section.
The new drums are snappier and fill-ins have been added while the arpeggio has an actual synth sound.

Used by OMBs - One Man Bands - all over Italy, this type of machine generate accompaniment to sing and play other instruments over when the budget and/or stage space is limited.
The keyboard on top indicates the chord and key to the unit below, generating bass lines, chord patterns and arpeggios.

If you're into rare Italian synths and drum machines you should check out our website which is basically an encyclopedia of them : https://www.vintageaudioinstitute.com/

And don't miss our next video of the almost equally rare GODWIN CD1 so subscribe here on Youtube or better still follow us on Instagram where we also post vintage gear for sale : / vintage_audio_institute_italia

The Only Drum Machine to be a Member of the Band // Minipops Junior

video upload by Starsky Carr

"The Minipops Junior was Echo & the Bunnymen’s first drummer. Quirky, lo-fi, and never on time — this 1970s rhythm box proves that imperfection is pure magic.

The Korg Minipops Junior is one of the quirkiest drum machines of the 1970s — best known as the original drummer for Echo & the Bunnymen on their debut single Pictures on My Wall. In this demo I run through its preset patterns, explain its place in the history of the MiniPops series, and show how its loose, drifting timing creates a swing that no DAW quantizer can reproduce.

I’ll sample into Logic to show how far the hits fall from the grid, how it drifts over several bars, and why those imperfections make it so special. It’s limited in tones, but every hit has tiny circuit variations that give it a unique feel.

I’ve also created a sample pack with all 10 patterns plus MIDI files, available on my Patreon."

Seiko Synth Addendum

video upload by Memetune Studio

"Here's a sequence I cut from the latest Memetune Programme episode [posted here] because I wanted it to flow better. It's some extra Seiko DS demos - straight from the Tomorrow Today studio!

All sounds made on the Seiko DS additive synthesis system - multitracked on the Neve 88D with some Lexicon 224XL

Cheers!"

X1L3 - ARMALYTE - 8580 SID - 3 voice test

video upload by X1L3

"Progress on the SID chip module i've been working on in my spare time.
8580 SID in circuit.

Took a bit of trial and error making the different write routines needed to do the shared register kinds of things with the filter and stuff. But it's moved on from a single voice proof of concept to an almost fully functioning SID module now.

If you were there when the C64 was a thing, you'll know how good this thing is becoming at pretending to be the chip inside the C64 based on this tune that i knocked up quickly for it. It is pretty much doing what a SID can do in a C64. A nostalgic sound. Especially towards the end where the chip chord trills come in.

The test tune shows the different wave forms and how they sound. It confirms that the absolute ton of continuous data coming in isn't a problem. It shows the ultra fast voice multiplexing to do things like the mellow snare sound after the first four bars, and the not so fast switching in tonal variations later on. It also tells me that the click generated by using the sustain register as a voice volume control is a trivial flaw that can't even be heard here.

Tuning is a bit shabby as i don't have a precision Vref on the breaboard. It's close enough slumming it with the running hot 5v regulator for a proof of concept demo though."

HWJ InkyFest 2025 - SynthAddict's set

video upload by SynthAddict

"Hey all, happy to make a jam in honor of Inky da Cat (Lisa Beynon).
She is greatly missed - RIP.

Unfortunately, I had a serious time crunch and had to rush this one out. It was fun, but as usual I had bigger plans for it. I had to upload almost a week early as I'll be away for the InkyFest and deadline just before.
All jams submitted are 10 min or less this time.
Enjoy..."

Album with Make Noise only - Fracture #10 Live Performance

video upload by Anton Anru

"🎆 Fractures is the result of a series of experiments with the Make Noise modular trio: 0-Coast, Strega, and 0-Ctrl. This combination of instruments is perfectly suited for generative ambient music, where hypnotic repetition merges with expression and dynamic movement.
💽 I recorded a 10-track album using only three Make Noise devices and VST effects.
All tracks were recorded live in a single take, with no additional editing. Each piece is built around a sequenced pattern and a complex patch that evolves continuously, shaped manually in real time.

The album is available on all streaming platforms.
➕ SoundCloud: / fractures
➕ Bandcamp: https://anru.bandcamp.com/album/fract...

The album explores a wide emotional range — from brighter, more uplifting moments to darker, more noise-driven textures — offering a diverse sonic journey shaped by the raw, living nature of modular synthesis.

📒 I also have patches for Make Noise and other synthesizers: https://antonanru.sellfy.store/

🎛 Lately, I’ve been more interested in working with simpler forms rather than complex arrangements in DAW. Semi-modular synths are perfect for this approach. In this case, the arrangement is the patch itself. If it’s well thought out, you can easily play a full track in a specific genre—like ambient or techno—using just that one patch."
