Tranquil Micro Worlds & Ambient Electronica | Live Music + Microscopic Creatures
video upload by Saul Stokes
On this episode of Frequensea, I build a live electronic track to coincide with microscopic videography created by Geoffrey Attardo, Ph.D. Geoffrey is an Associate Professor at the Department of Entomology and Nematology at UC Davis in California. Halfway through the performance, I talk about how the videos were made and what Wetland they are from, along with a short conversation about some older musical gear that found new life in my studio.

"For sale this Technosaurus Selector System C. A gorgeus and extremely rare modular synthesizer from late 90's. Only few units were made, extremely difficult to find one in these days. This is an unique opportunity to purchase a rare gem of the synthesizer history, in good working condition. The case have marks of use and pass of time. You can check the pictures for more close details of the shape. The unit is working nice, you can check at the youtube videos.
This synthesizer have a very special sound and character, in essence is in the league of the early vintage sound, with wild sounds, lot of life and electricity feeling. Has a very very high dynamic range, is very different from the modern modular synthesizers. But at the same time the stability and the connectivity is stable and easy, very friendly to use, via MIDI or via CV/GATE with volt/octave range.
The power supply is new one with improvements from the original one (original one was very basic design)
Now is, Switching transformer stage + classic linear regulation for best sound and stability, the best of two power supply technologies. Added the operation from 100v to 240v without need to change nothing, universal AC. Added protection and filtering from AC input and added over current protection at the linear voltages to protect this valuable instrument.
This is the list of modules:
VCO x4
Dual Waveshaper x1
Dual Ring Modulator x1
Dual Envelope Generator x2
LFO x2
VCF2 x1
Triple Resonator x1
Sample and Hold x1
VCA x2
MIDI interface x1
Passive Multiple x2
Is a big system:
Weight: 42 KG
Dimensions: 112x53x44 mm"

"Keio Giken KORG-770
Compact 2VCO 32-key analog synthesizer.
Released in 1976 after the MINIKORG700, this model has 2 VCOs, noise, a built-in ring modulator, and a chorus-like mode for a surprisingly wide range of sound variations, and is a popular model partly due to its compact and cute wooden chassis.
Item rank: B : Fairly scratched and used, but no problems in normal use."

Vintage ARP Odyssey Mk I Black & Gold 2800 - Serviced w/ New Sliders SN 283036

"This vintage ARP Odyssey has just been serviced in October 2025 by Synthchaser - recapped, new key bushings, all new precision sliders, tuned and calibrated, and sounding awesome! The Odyssey was ARP's answer to the Minimoog, a feature packed scaled down version of the legendary ARP 2600. This Odyssey features the 4023 filter, a very fat 2 pole filter.
Despite appearances, this black & gold Odyssey is a Mk I (Model 2800) ARP Odyssey with an original 4023 filter, and no gate/CV interface jacks. It's equivalent to the white ARPs of the era, and different from the more common Black & Gold Mk II Odyssey.
The synth is in excellent condition with minor marks on the case. Work just completed on the synth included:
Synthchaser Precision slider upgrade - All 34 of the old original sliders have been replaced with new, smooth, high precision sliders. The difference in the way these sliders feel and perform compared to the originals is a huge improvement. They are fitted with original style slider caps.
Power supply rebuilt - All tantalum and electrolytic capacitors in the power supply have been replaced, and high quality, high temperature 105 deg C capacitors have been used for the power supply filter capacitors.
All tantalum capacitors replaced - The tantalum capacitors in ARP synths are ticking time bombs. All tantalum capacitors in this synth (except those in the sealed 4023 filter module) have been replaced with electrolytics to help provide stable operation for years to come.
Keyboard rebuild - New key bushings installed, keys cleaned, bus bars removed and polished.
Oscilloscope calibration - Calibrated & tuned using oscilloscope and frequency counter.
· 1/4" output made High - ARPs of this era had an RCA jack as the high output and the 1/4" jack as the low output. As today RCA jacks are an inconvenience for most, the 1/4" jack has been made to a second high output."

This Episode DIDN'T AGE SO WELL
video upload by AudioPilz
"Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world’s most-hated audio tools. More or less all synth nerds have their own temporal demarcation line between 'awesome old school Roland' and 'corporate grave robbers squeezing the last penny from iconic IPs'.
For me, this turning point might as well be the release of the 1999 JV-1010. This obvious insult to UI design combined classic ROMpler tones of the 90s with a workflow so abysmal it helped pave the way for the DAW revolution - and things only went downhill from there.

Korg Prophecy Demo | 90s Rave & Trance Preset Sounds (The Prodigy, The Orb)
video upload by Nostalgic Explorer
"Today, I’m diving deep into the Korg Prophecy, the legendary 1995 synth that pushed boundaries with analog-style power, FM tones, and wild physical modeling — all packed into one compact digital beast. 🎹
This video is a personal journey through the Prophecy’s factory presets (A-00 through A-23), where I’ll show you why this monophonic synth became a favorite for 90s electronic pioneers like The Prodigy, The Orb, and even Radiohead. From punchy basses and expressive leads to brass, winds, and experimental textures, the Prophecy truly defined a new era of sound design.
Along the way, I’ll share some fun history, performance tricks, and why the Prophecy’s ribbon controller and modulation options made it one of the most expressive synths of its time."
