Waldorf Protein No Talking Review - That what you want right??? lol
Well this isn't it, these are my feelings having used the Protein in a few different settings and now having one at home. I was asked to support some local tours and needed a synth that was super portable, I actually don't have a poly portable, so fortunately this fit the bill perfectly. I actually needed it more than I wanted it to be honest. I think I've seen many 'don't buy gear videos' more and more. Here's the thing. I like those videos actually, but mainly cause I love people in the comments section being triggered lol. I think that most important thing is your 'why'. You love Moog 'why' you love Behringer 'why'. None are bad none are good, it's purely your why. Waldorf Quantum, Waldorf XT this is NOT. It's not what you think it is. It's not Waldorfs cheap way to sell you something. This feels like love was put behind it's creation."

"Quick control voltage+gate read / register write test before moving on. And a quick look at the module front panel...

Apart from ring/sync on voice A, which i have no room for on the module design, all parameters of the 3 voices of the chip are now broken out to the user interface.

Voice A juggles the tune and drum work. Voice B is hard synced to voice 1 for the gnarly 'pro1' sound. Noise is strobed over pwm on voice 1 for the 'snare' hits.

There are likely a few minor bugs in the code that i'll spot as the module comes to life. But all that remains to be coded is the hooking up of some shift registers to get control of the 28 leds.

Given that this is technically a single voice demo. I'm fairly confident this machine will be capable of sounding quite authentic to the Commodore 64 and the world that moved on when it's complete and has some nice compositions made for it 🙂

Scale Snap - Eurorack Random Note CV Sequencer

"Scale Snap generates random but scale-accurate note patterns of up to 16 steps. You choose the key/scale, root note, number of steps, and how “jumpy” the pattern feels. It also includes a chord/'Strainer' mode that locks notes to triad tones (random-only, ascending, or descending).

Connections include clock in, 1V/Oct CV out (0–5V), reset to step 1, and a random trigger/button. Controls let you set root, select from multiple scales (chromatic, major, minor modes, pentatonics, etc.), and adjust a parameter that switches between probability of change, octave range, and step count. The display shows step progress, current parameter values, root/scale name, and a scale grid with the active note highlighted."

"In this video I perform a groovebox jam, and this time it’s a techno EDM track created entirely with hardware. The groove is driven by a powerful Novation Circuit combo, blending rhythm, melody, and energy into a tight live performance.

Two grooveboxes are used in this setup:

Novation Circuit Tracks – rhythm and melodic elements

Novation Circuit Rhythm – rhythm, textures, and custom samples

Both Circuit grooveboxes perfectly complement each other, allowing me to build dynamic beats and evolving melodic patterns in a fully dawless workflow. Everything is sequenced live on the Circuit Tracks and Circuit Rhythm, without using a DAW during performance.
Final mastering was done in Ableton Live to polish the track.
