Gary Numan - Vox Humana

video upload by George B.

"A remake of this sound using the Double Mode of the OB-X8. This in effect doubles the oscillators and LFO's. One additional LFO was needed that a standard patch doesn't have. However, we are not wanting to double the oscillators. Turns out you can set one layer to osc 1, and the second layer to osc 2. So still two oscillators but more LFO's. Thanks to Alex Ball and his great video explaining this instrument. Be sure to look him up and his video called "That Gary Numan Synth""

Brooklyn Synth & Pedal Expo Returns with Over 100 Brands to Discover - October ‎17–18

video upload by Sanjay C

Video from last year's show above.

Press release follows:

"BROOKLYN, NY — The Brooklyn Synth & Pedal Expo, perhaps the biggest East Coast event dedicated to electric and electronic gear for musicians with over 100 brands on display, returns to Greenpoint on October ‎17–18, transforming a 7,000-square-foot warehouse into an immersive playground for music creators.

Presented in partnership with the legendary synth store Three Wave Music and local up-and-coming guitar shop Tonewolf, the Expo offers a strictly in-the-headphones experience — letting attendees demo the latest synthesizers, effects pedals, and modular gear from over 100 brands in a noise-friendly environment.

Nestled in one of Brooklyn's most vibrant musical corridors, the show is expected to draw more about 2,000 visitors, a mix of musicians, producers, and gear enthusiasts.

"Intro to Synthesis" Workshops
This year, the Expo expands beyond its large exhibition floor with a new lineup of educational workshops focused on synthesis — from hands-on patch-building sessions to deep dives into modular workflows, led by working artists and builders. A schedule of the workshops will be announced soon.

10/4/26 (3 speeds) JRB BCBF BCRV + Buchla 132 258d 281 244 292r + TTMC 5 Step + CXM 1978

video upload by Cfpp0

"10/4/26 (3 speeds) JRB BCBF & BCRV + Buchla 132 & 258d & 281 & 244 & 292r + Tokyo Tape Music Center 5 Strp Sequencer + CXM 1978

We got another Eardrill 041 loaded with JRB module modules, so now we have two VCBF Bandpass filters. Some trades led to another 281 function generator. This video contains three takes from a series of tests of the new modules. The 292r runs through the JRB VCRV reverb, which is being modulated by the 281, and then out to the Mackie Onyx 1640 mixer, where there is a stereo reverb delay blended on the CXM 1978."

Tre Modular - State of Mind (GEST first look)

video upload by Tre Modular

"In this video we want to show you State of Mind's GEST (Gesture) engine.

State of Mind can record what you play. GEST records two kinds of things. Knob movements, and CV with gates.

Knob gestures. Turn any of the four channel knobs and GEST records the movement: a filter sweep, a slow swell, a modulation shape drawn by hand. You name it.

CV + Gate. Patch in any source, a keyboard, a sequencer, an LFO, and GEST records it as real voltage, a thousand samples a second, up to 48 seconds per take, negative voltages included. It plays back exactly as it came in, so a take works for pitch as well as modulation. A take can wait for your first note, and it can fit itself to the length of what's already playing.

Each channel holds its own loop, so you can record one, layer the next, and so on. The whole four-channel arrangement can be saved to one of eight slots, to be recalled or chained into a sequence.

GEST can also be combined with other engines. One channel can loop a recorded sweep while for example RSG plays melodies on the others.

Enjoy!
