Alpha Juno 2 Ableton Instrument Pack - Mike's Mix

Published on May 24, 2020 Expanding Sound

"get the pack here
https://www.expandingsound.com/produc...

The Alpha Juno 2 was the first synth I used to make Ableton instruments. Many years ago now, I made a pack with my friend Brian Funk for his website, at the time called Afrodjmac dot com. You can check out his site here
https://www.brianfunk.com
The pack came out very nice and still sounds great, however I still had a lot to learn about sampling. It was literally impossible for me to edit any patches via menu diving since my Alpha Juno at the time had some sort of chip error. Every time it would boot up the AJ would just show a combination of letters and numbers that were nonsensical. Couple that with my inexperience, and the pack turned out to be predominantly preset based. Thats why I'm calling this pack Mike's Mix! I finally got another Alpha Juno 2 a few years back, and I have the Alpha iOS editor which makes editing the synth worlds easier than menu diving. Some patches are derivates of presets but every sound has been tailored by me. I also included 5 instruments where I ran the AJ2 through my new Korg NT1S to get some wild effects and synth layering. I love how this pack sounds and I think you will too.
The Mikes Mix megapack includes
25 Multi Sampled Alpha Juno 2 user presets
5 Alpha Juno 2 presets layered with the new Korg NTS1 for some extra effects and madness!
Thanks for checking out the pack, I hope you enjoy it!"

Roland MKS70 and JX8P analog synth Ableton Live instrument megapack

Published on Sep 29, 2018 Expanding Sound

"check out the pack here-

http://expandingsound.com/product/mks...

About 4-5 years ago my good friend Afrodjmac (http://www.afrodjmac.com) and I made a JX8P Ableton pack. That pack is by no means bad, but its mostly preset based. Since it's release, I have acquired an MKS70 and PG800 programmer to use with both units. Needless to say the PG800 really opened up the synthesizer! The MKS70 is the JX8P with double the voices. It's essentially 2 JX8Ps in a rack mount module. So with newfound creative control over the synth, I wanted to make a pack showcasing some of the sounds I use it for. It sounds great! Syrupy slow envelopes make huge pads, and doubling it up makes it sound that much richer. This 24 preset pack is a combination of JX8P user presets, MKS70 User Presets, and both being used at the same time."

Wavetable Ableton Live 10 Tutorial and Walkthrough

Published on Nov 2, 2017 AfroDJMac USA

"Wavetable is Ableton Live 10's new wavetable synthesizer. It's incredibly powerful and deep. In this video I show you the ins and outs of how everything works, as well as Wavetable's spectacular Push 2 integration."

And a brief description on each new device via Ableton, where you can find some interactive pics with additional details:

"Create with new devices

Meet Wavetable, Echo, Drum Buss and Pedal: new devices that mean colorful new sounds are possible with Live’s instruments and effects.

Wavetable

Immediately playable, infinitely capable, Wavetable is a new synthesizer built by Ableton. Shape, stretch and morph sounds using wavetables derived from analog synths, and a range of other instruments and sounds. Start sculpting sounds right away—even without a deep knowledge of synthesis—or explore its rich palette and potential through an intuitive interface.

Echo

Echo brings together the sound of classic analog and digital hardware delays in a single device—your new go-to delay. Drive and shape sounds with its analog-modeled filters, turn up the noise and wobble for vintage imperfections, or add modulation and reverb to create diffuse soundscapes, wailing feedback and more.

Drum Buss

Drum Buss is a one-stop workstation for drums, capable of adding subtle character or bending and breaking drums to your will. Add warmth and distortion with drive and crunch, take control of dynamics with compression and transient shaping, dial in and tune boom and control bass decay with the dedicated low end section.

Pedal

With separate circuit-level models of overdrive, distortion and fuzz guitar pedals, Pedal brings the character of analog stomp boxes to Live. The effect goes all the way from subtle to reckless—it excels at warming up vocals and other instruments, driving synth sounds or completely smashing drums. And of course, it sounds great with guitars."

Hardware synth jam by Mike Longo and Afrodjmac, Korg and Elektron synth and drum machine instruments

Published on Aug 5, 2016 Expanding Sound

"Our good friend Afrodjmac, (http://www.afrodjmac.com) came by for a jam, and brought over his Elektron Analog Rytm drum machine. He was looking to put it to the test in a live application. Expanding Sound contibutor Mike Longo (http://www.mikelongo.bandcamp.com) had been wanting to try his Korg SQ1 Sequencer with some of his new Korg gear, and the rest is, as they say, history. The jam builds and really starts to move once it gets going.

The instruments featured in this jam are
Korg Monotribe (synced using Korgs iOS app SyncKontrol)
Volca FM
Volca Keys
Volca Bass
Minilogue
MS20 Mini (with SQ1 Sequencer)
and
Elektron Analog Rytm Drum machine.

We recorded everything separately into Ableton Live. It was a lot of fun to jam this way, so make sure to hang with the video as it consistently builds! We wanted to feature each instrument for a moment so you could tell the individual instrument's introduction.
