A quick, improv with the ARP/sequencer button mode I've been working on for the Phantasmal Force.

I've set buttons 1-8 to send different sequences to the MT32-pi (which is multitimbral).

The buttons in ARP mode are set to stay in sync - so let's see what happens!

"Phantasmal Force micro MIDI controller with the @1010_music lemondrop and the @bastlinstruments Kastl drum. The Kastl kicks it off with a little loop (just started learning this little guy). The Phantasmal Force is sending chords to the lemondrop. The chords were generated randomly by the Phantasmal Force and I’m just noodling around with them. In chord mode, the knob raises or lowers the chord on the button up to one octave. Each button can send a different three note chord. The notes of the chord are adjustable, so you can make your own chords. I haven’t posted in a little while … i’ve been working on the beta firmware for the Phantasmal Force for several months. Here is an improvisational demonstration of the new ARP button mode.

I’m triggering the OPL Studio with three different sequences sent from the Phantasmal Force. The OPL studio is multi timbral so it is capable of playing back different FM tones on each midi channel. It is an amazing device for those looking to explore 80s FM sounds within the context of a hypothetical OS developed to control all of the OPL chip parameters. Truly incredible.

The NTS-3 takes a bit of learning, but is slowly becoming a fave of mine for adding reverb, delays and interactive effects.  Such a great deal for what it costs.

I’m hoping to release a version 2.0 of the Phantasmal Force firmware within the next couple weeks … maybe even sooner. With that, I intend to release a kit version for sale as well."

Working out a new audio circuit for the Great Conjunction 2op FM Fragment Synth

"Every week the wonderfully purple, Great Conjunction, gets a little tiny bit closer to being completed. No major breakthroughs on the software front but I did squash a few bugs and probably created a few more. I spent a good deal of time reworking the PCB to incorporate a new audio output circuit. I’ve ordered up most of the parts that I’ll need for the next batch of five prototypes, and I hope to order of the prototypes within a week."

"Just giving some love to a brand new Hologram Chroma Console. My Great Conjunction prototype just came in today, and I decided to set up a simple, generative patch and play with each effect on the chroma console.

I didn’t get into too many of the shift menus. Just a brief exploration of what each effect does in the context of a pretty, basic synth sound.

This thing really shines when you start adding the effects together and get into some of the deeper features of motion capture.

I may even dust off the guitar and plug it in, who knows!

"This is one of my favorite pieces I’ve made for a long time. I had it running for around 40 hours this week. The Norns is running my 'pixels' script, which is generating some sine wave blips. It is also sending mini note data to the Prismatic Spray which Casts a haunting melody over the top. Everything is running through the lemondrop, which chops and slices and dices."

Phantasmal Force v2.0 firmware coming soon!

Testing out the beta firmware for the Phantasmal Force micro MIDI controller with a new friend. The MIDISID (purple dual SID synth on the left) is being sent Program Change messages from the Phantasmal Force to change the instrument sounds on each of its six channels. The Phantasmal Force is also sending six different sequences (one to each voice of the MIDISID). The sequences are different lengths, and follow different subdivisions of the master tempo. Sequences can have their notes, velocity and probability randomized. Notes can be locked to 43 different scales.

The NTS-3 is just here to add some fun ear candy.

There are a ton of new features in coming up in v2.0 of the the PF firmware."
