"We're happy to release the J3PO Signature Sound Bank for Nord Wave 2 containing a unique selection of sounds created by Julian "J3PO" Pollack. J3PO has re-created some of his favourite analog patches, smooth FM synths, beautiful sampled based sounds as well as exclusive J3PO signature patches. Most of the sounds are included in the demo series "The Sound of the Nord Wave 2" that was released earlier this summer.

Julian "J3PO" Pollack is an established pianist/keyboardist, producer, and audio engineer based out of Los Angeles, CA and has worked with the likes of Marcus Miller, Michael League (Snarky Puppy) and Kamasi Washington. He is also a member of the renowed live act The Lesson GK.

"This video demos the 50 presets in the new 'Arturia OB-Xa J3PO Presets Collection.' The patch bank is available for purchase exclusively from https://www.julianpollack.com and the cost is $19. Instructions come with the pack for installation. It's quite simple to install.

While I believe that no software emulation will ever capture every single detail and nuance of the original hardware, Arturia has a done a great job with this virtual synth, paying homage to the original Oberheim OB-Xa. With the additional features, modulation, and array of quite superb digital effects that the Arturia OB-Xa has to offer, this instrument has become a go-to synth in my digital arsenal. Similar to Sequential's new "vintage knob," the Arturia OB-Xa has controls under the hood to give variation to each voice, including pitch, filter envelope, filter cutoff, and more.

You must own the Arturia OB-Xa to use these patches.

"In this video, Julian "J3PO" Pollack demos the 40 presets included in the "J3PO Super 6 Presets" library. 40 patches for the UDO Super 6. The price is $29 and you can purchase these presets from www.j3po.net

For the recording of this video, the UDO Super 6 was connected directly to a UA Apollo, recorded straight to Pro Tools. All FX (chorus, delay) you hear are coming from within the synth itself. Some compression and general leveling was applied for the purpose of uploading to YouTube.

The Super 6 is a 12-voice polyphonic, binaural analog-hybrid synthesizer. A harmonious marriage of state of the art FPGA digital hardware oscillators and voltage controlled analog technology. It is flexible, immediate, powerful and refined with a gorgeous analog tone. Rich and evolving textures are easily teased from the unique super-wavetable core and can be shaped and manipulated with the binaural analog signal path and flexible modulation. Robust, compact and inviting to pick up and play with smooth, solid and responsive controls throughout, it cries out to be played."

The Prophet Rev 2 has become one of my favorite synths of all time, due to its incredible modulation capabilities and pure sound. Although the Rev 2 sometimes gets overshadowed by its more expensive siblings such as the Prophet 6, OB-6, and Prophet 5/10, I have found that with a little time and careful programming, the Rev 2 stands up to the others. In many situations, it actually outshines them. Many thanks to Jason Cooper over at www.voicecomponentmodeling.com for providing the inspiration to create even more compelling patches for this instrument.

"@SoftubeStudios​ has just released their new synth, "Model 84" and I'm really excited about it! In essence, it is a highly detailed recreation of the Juno-106. They had me design some of the factory presets for the synth and in this video, I constructed a song using only the Model 84 synthesizer (except for the drum samples). This synth is super fun and easy to use, and just sounds great right out of the box. I hope you enjoy my Synthwave-y tune "Delorean Fantasy" in this video.

J3PO - "Morse Code" - Prophet 5 Reissue - first track

"This is the first track I made with the Prophet 5 reissue after I had finished making a bunch of presets for it (still looking forward to seeing which ones will be chosen for the factory banks). The lead patch that I'm playing in this video utilizes the famed poly-mod section. Oscillator 2 is being used as a key-tracked polyphonic LFO (pulse wave) modulating the filter to create different tempos of the "morse code" sound.

All sounds in this video are made by the Prophet 5 except for the drums, which are mostly Roland TR-808 samples, constructed in XLN Audio's XO drum plugin.
