"This is the Hexinverter VCNO, a rather unique noise oscillator. The VCNO generates its noise through a pseudorandom sequence of bits using discrete analog hardware. The first half o fthe video show the filtered noise outputs used to synthesize chiptune-esque percussion sounds, while the latter half showcases the gate output of the VCNO into a sequential switch creating rhythmic bursts.

The Wing Pinger from Meng Qi is an analog filter percussion desktop synth with internal feedback capabilities that can take you from gentle plucked tones to snarling feedback in an instant. The range of characters afforded by the Wing Pinger have to do with its shift register-based feedback FM routing, in which the output of each filter can modulate the cutoff of the other. Lest you think the Wing Pinger is a noisemaker and nothing more, the feedback FM can be dialed back to zero, giving you a playful, characterful dual filter-plucked modal resonator instrument to ping with the touch keyboard or even external audio. At sufficient resonance and feedback FM settings, the Wing Pinger can take on a life of its own, while touch control and robust MIDI and CV implementation make it versatile node in your setup regardless of its parameter settings. A single trigger can set off an event with up to 36 repeats that naturally decay over time, eight different waveforms, a variable delay between repeats and a wave cycle rate range of 50ms out 2.6 seconds.

The overdrive is a fully analog discrete system Berdo’s circuit that can print interesting results on even the softest of signals. Alternatively this 2-in/2-out section can be used as a dirty feedback tool resulting in chaotic sub octaves, a 2-ch mixer; or send DC into one of the inputs for biasing, resulting in VCA-like functionality.

The filter is a classic OTA style resonant VCF with a hi-pass and low-pass toggle. With very little resonance this filter will sing on its own. With full resonance and no signal patched in, the self oscillating filter is capable of clocking the neighboring sample and hold section for expanded range of audio rate triggering.

The sample and hold section is straight forward. Designed to add motion to the filter section or used individually as a sample rate reduction effect.

There are many great features here, self-patching encouraged. Definitely recommend for those looking to add a bit of non-linear sonic excitement to their patching."
