"Thanks for watching!
Wanted to celebrate my birthday this year by uploading an extra video (Monday the 24th), alongside my regular Wednesday/Sunday uploads.
Thank you everyone for watching my videos!
This one starts a little more ambient and it builds to a more upbeat piece, then calms back down to ambient.

What are Modular Synthesizers? | History, Formats, & Notable Users|

video upload by Piotr Garbaczonek

"Thanks for watching and welcome to a project that I wanted to start for a very long time, and that is: 'Piotr Garbaczonek Presents Modular Tutorials, Tips, Tricks, and more...'

This is my first video like that in which the goal is to introduce the concept of modular synthesizers to people who may have never heard of them, and kind of open the gate to the world of modular for those people. What is modular? Who uses modular? What different formats are there? Why would they be used over software synthesizers? How they can be used in the music industry?

Please give me feedback and suggestions in the comments so that I can improve my videos next time. As you can see, I have never really done this type of content before, but I am trying it out and hopefully, it can be of help to people out there, but I am not perfect, so if there is anything that you don't agree with, or know some facts that I may have misrepresented please let me know in the comments, and as always I am grateful for your suggestions, and taking the time to provide them to me:)

In the next few videos, I am planning to be centered around different types of modules in a modular system, before going into making patches from scratch and kind of explaining my process of going about making modular music/sound design, etc.

I am a graduate student right now, so I am very unsure how I can manage schoolwork and these videos so the timeline of these is undecided but just know that they are in the works and they will be done when they will be done.

Cheers, and thanks for your constant support;)

"Thanks for watching!
My second tribute to Vangelis's music comes to you in a form of a cover of one of my favorite compositions of his which is Rachel's Song from Blade Runner 1982. I am happy to also share that Yi Ming Sofyia Xue did the vocals for this cover.

NEW!! Ambient Explorations pt.38 (FabFilter Twin 3)

video upload by Piotr Garbaczonek

Thanks for watching!
The FabFilter Twin 3 Synthesizer plugin came out today, so I wanted to take the advantage of it and make an ambient piece as soon as possible. All the sounds you hear were created from the Twin 3, I am also using Fab Filters Q-3. MB, C-2, and L-2 for mixing this track, as well as some Valhalla Shimmer for the long-release goodness, which is quite vital in this genre.
Enjoy!

"EXPERIMENTAL ELECTRONIC MUSIC EXPERIENCE" - PIOTR GARBACZONEK (FULL LIVE PERFORMANCE AT BERKLEE)

video upload by Piotr Garbaczonek

"Thank you all so much for watching my performance!
Date: December 14th, 2021
Location: B54 at Berklee College Of Music, EPD Labs
(Electronic Production and Design)

This show was my showcase as part of my EP-491's final project for my major. Aside from finishing a 5-track EP in a semester, I also was preparing this set for a very long time along with all the music. I decided to pull in a few songs from my previous EP: Experimental EP, Vol. 01, to spice up the performance a bit. The songs included were: Conformity, as the first song after the modular-only section; Time, which was the song at the end of the set with the QR code to my social media links. Everything else was songs from the past 4 months.

All the visuals were edited beat by beat, a song by song in Adobe Premiere Pro, and then rendered and then put into an Ableton Session to be played in a specific earlier-defined order.

I divided the show into 2 sections: Ambient Experimental, and Glitch Experimental.

The first part included rhythm-free elements only and primarily played on various modular synths, up until the 13th minute, where modular synths were supporting all the songs played in order.

The second part included various drum elements, as well as glitch music and frequency spectrum bending polyrhythms.

In terms of gear used, I used my Zoom L-12 Multitrack Mixer, to record all of the individual inputs directly into Ableton. Ableton had different effects in the effects chain of each track depending on what was necessary for each one.

For all the weird clock-driven, laser-sounding fast atonal sounds, I used the CMS MR-15 Modular System based off of the ARP 2500. For some chords and mild sawtooth progressions, I used the Blue Marvin 2600, which is based on the ARP 2600 with built-in Spring Reverb. The Blue Marvin was sequenced by one of my Qu-Bit Bloom Sequencers running in the minor key.
The master clock for everything was the ALM Pamela's New Workout, and it was clocking the CMS, Blue Marvin, 2x Qu-Bit Bloom, Qu-Bit Chance, Moog Subharmonicon (which was doing all the background pads), and Mutable Instruments Rings.
There were various other sequenced sounds, including Mutable Instruments Plaits as a 32-step arpeggio in minor, as well as Mutable Instruments Rings, going through Clouds as a textured effect.
Cwejman VCO-2RM was running through Qu-Bit Tone's LPF, and directly out as a very low analog sub.
The E340 Cloud Generator was my analog Wavetable synth, which I played directly on the Arturia Keystep MIDI-Controller, by sending it pitch information only, and running it through MI Ripples, and out.
The Instruo Arbhar was running in stereo mode, and that one was doing all of the tapping and scratching noises in left and right channels. It has a built-in condenser mic, so I was tapping it on the spot to fill up some space in transitions for some ASMR effects haha.
That's pretty much it in terms of gear used.
If you have any questions about anything, please don't hesitate to ask in the comments. I will happily answer.

Again a huge thank you to Wiggz for doing some cool action shots while I was playing.
This is his YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCItL...

And thank you to Dr.B for being an amazing professor, and leading me through the last stretch of my EPD Journey, as well as opening new doors for me for the future.

"Natural Movements" - Piotr Garbaczonek x Anders Nordstrom, Live Performance

video upload by Piotr Garbaczonek

"Thanks for watching!
#modularsynth #eurorack #electroacoustic
This piece was in development for the last few weeks. This take was our last practice run before a performance at NYU on May 10th, 2023. The performance was rushed, and we were only given approximately 10 minutes to play it, which is significantly shorter than we prepared, so, therefore, we are putting out this version instead. You'll find a brief description of each of the 3 movements in this piece at the beginning of the video. Feel free to pause in order to read without rushing. Enjoy!

Modular Upbeat Performance (Berklee System, My system, Verbos Modular System, Doepfer A-155 System)

video upload by Piotr Garbaczonek

"Thanks for watching!
I made a little upbeat piece utilizing Berklee's modular systems in conjunction with my own system. The bass you hear is made with Berklee's small Cwejman Module inventory of VCO-6 and MMF-1. If you have any specific questions about the patch ask me in the comment section, I will happily answer.
Everything was tracked directly from the VCAs into all of the inputs on the Zoom L-12 multitrack mixer into an Ableton session. Most of the reverbs and effects were from Ableton.

Ambient Improvisation Using ARP Odyssey & Blue Marvin 2600 Inspired By Jean-Michel Jarre

video upload by Piotr Garbaczonek

"Thanks for watching!
Made a little improvisation piece using the Blue Marvin 2600 and the Korg/ARP Odyssey. I only have one input on the UAD Volt interface, so I am running the ARP Odyssey output through the Blue Marvin's Ring Mod Input on the VCA side. It seems to be working quite well, allowing me to still use Blue Marvin's 3 oscillators in conjunction with it, so that's quite nice. The eurorack modules are used to control both the Blue Marvin and the Odyssey. From clocking, sequencing, modulation, and filtering. I wanted to replicate the EMS Synthi used countless times by Jean Michel Jarre during his live performances as a crazy laser machine. Combined with a smooth chord drone on the Blue Marvin and a bit of its internal spring reverb, it is a pleasant little journey. Cheers!

Hans Zimmer -"Time" (From 'Inception'), Modular Rendition | Expert Sleepers ES-9, VCO-2RM, Plaits...

video upload by Piotr Garbaczonek

Thanks for watching!
I decided to try some of the features of my new Expert Sleepers ES-9 Module, and using the Ableton CV Instrument tool, I managed to send CV/Gate info from MIDI directly through the ES-9 and into various oscillators, and back into the interface to record. It was split into 4 monophonic voices, and I was using Plum Audio's OCP (Ornament & Crime Plus) module's 4xEG mode, for the Envelope Generator. You can see the triggers of the notes by the flashing of the Analogue Solutions LED CV Cables, which is also a recent addition to me trying to make my videos look like Richard Devine's :)

MIDJOURNEY AI AUDIO-VISUAL EXPERIMENT - (AI)'m Happy Now

video upload by Piotr Garbaczonek

"Thank you for tuning in!
Around a year ago, during the epidemic, I released a highly experimental piece of music called '(AI)'m Happy Now.' It was a piece of despair, anxiety, and feeling isolated in the world. Inspired heavily by the graphics from Blade Runner 2049 and the whole concept of the Blade Runner series. I had no method of conveying visually what I wanted to say with that song until MidJourney AI came out, so here are the first 3.5 minutes of it before it goes rather ridiculous electronically. This is precisely what I was thinking when writing this song, so please listen and enjoy:)

The narrative is based on three books: Philip K. Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, Dave Eggers's The Circle, and Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451.
//
There are just a few humans remaining on the globe. The year is 2100. Machines have taken control, everything is being closely monitored, and there is no such thing as privacy. Everything in the world is artificial, and all happiness has vanished. The last remaining true humans are hiding and wandering the world in the hopes of finding themselves and maybe fixing everything, but the machines are snooping around, eager to exterminate all humans. The narrative is a large metaphor for people's daily lives during the initial stages of the pandemic, and how they had to adjust to the unknown and (hopefully) eventually persevere through it. This narrative has no finale; it is merely the beginning.
Thank you for your support. I'm happy now;)

1 Hour of Ambient Modular Music - Perfect for Relaxation, Meditation, and Sleep

video upload by Piotr Garbaczonek

"Thanks for watching!
Hope this new series I am starting will help in your everyday life. This can be used for meditation, studying, or even to help you sleep. I got a new computer which is able to handle longer videos, so this is the first one like that.

Now that school has kicked in pretty hard, I will start posting once a week for the foreseeable future. I will keep uploading videos in HD until I save up for a new camera that records in 4K60UHD. so maybe by early next year, the quality will be impeccable. I also switched my video editing software from Adobe Premiere Pro to Black Magic Designs DaVinci Resolve 18, for that great color grading, and overall interface.
Cheers!

Ambient Modular Performance (Cycling '74 Max MSP/Beap)

video upload by Piotr Garbaczonek

"Thanks for watching!
I am away from my modular system for another week, so I am trying to use some great software devices to make the content as a temporary solution. Made this patch as extensive as possible, but it was very close to crashing my computer just due to the sheer amount of connections and effects that I had running. If you want to try it out for yourself and have Max on your computer. I am giving this patch to all of my Patrons. Happy New Year!
