"My second contribution to this years #Jamuary. This time I based my piece around notes generated by the Fall script on Monomer Norns+Grid. I added a simple baseline in Ableton, recorded some of the incoming Midi notes, reduced tempo and created some Pads with these. The drum section is heavily modulated by LFOs with the Slink Max for Live device. Apart from the filters, effects and start end points of the samples (mostly taken from the Tanzbär), it even modulates the steps and events within the Euclidian sequencer. Have fun. #Jamuary 01 - Ambient Performance with Vermona Perfourmer, Travelogue and Choreographs

"Slow ambient piece, generated with the new Travelogue max for live device by Novelmusic. It creates four slightly changing Midi patterns and slowly morphs between them. The main voice comes from the Vermona Perfourmer MK2. Some recorded bits of the Midi play voices of the beautiful Choreographs by Slate + Ash. I use the Midique Kntrlr9 to adjust the volume of the tracks."

E-RM Polygogo and Make Noise QPAS - Eurorack Live Improvisation

"Two main voices: Polygogo from Erfindungsbüro and Erica Synths Bassline. Polygogo is a graphical stereo oscillator with original Polygonal Synthesis. I use the QPAS stereo filter and a stereo effects chain with Imitor Versio, Desmodus Versio and FX aid. Lots of modulation on all devices from Ochs, Mimetic Digitalis, Chaos and Maestro. Starts slow, by opening the attenuator on the fold input on the Polygogo and with an wider opened filter on the Opas it gets into a more harsh territory. The Bassline is also heavily modulated, especially through CV into the cutoff and some random accents.

The sequences are generated in Ableton live with the Sequned plugin. While recording I add some FX in Ableton, mostly EQ, slight reverb, tape saturation and texture. There is an additional pad playing in the background, sequenced by another instance of Seqund."

"An amazing device playing the Fall script.

Fall simulates falling leaves that slowly move down, controlled by wind and gravity parameters. Once they reach the bottom, as displayed on the display and the grid device, a note is triggered.
Leaves can be added and removed. When leaves move by each other they can trigger a rustling sound.

Audio and Midi recorded into Ableton. Midi from Norns is also used to trigger a Piano and Scarbo from Teletone that run in parallel with the Fall sequencer."

"Finally a new Desmodus Versio is back in my rack. Now Imitor Versio and Desmodus Versio are united again after months of separation. Such a strong duo...

In this patch I sequenced Erica Synths Bassline, Basimilus Iteritas Alter, and Manis Iteritas with the Polyend Seq. The later two are then send through the Erica Synths Fusion VCF3 filter into Imitor Versio and Desmodus Versio. All modules are heavily modulated by different LFOs. Again I use the O_C to randomly filter out certain triggers for Basimilus Iteritas Alter, and Manis Iteritas. The chance parameter is also modulated by an LFO."

"First track I recorded with the new setup, that I would consider as a permanent installation. The main sequencer is the Polyend Seq, that drives the Eurorack (Erica Synths Bassline, Basimilus Iteritas Alter, Manis Iteritas) and the Vermona Performer. All drums from the Vermona DRM1, sequenced by the Digitakt. Another Bassline is added from the Syntakt.

The Polyend Seq is not only beautiful - the eight tracks and 32 steps are a great visual guidance of what is happening. But (since it is an old and abandoned device) it has it limitations. Like probability. To counter this, I send the triggers for the two main voices through Ornament & Crime in the Branches mode and use two very slow LFOs to change the probability percentage over time. Further LFOs control lots of other parameters to keep the tracking along the 32 step pattern alive. All 8 tracks no the Seq are setup in different length, timings and directions to add another layer of change and randomness. I use the Polyend Poly 2, to connect the Seq with the rack. Works like a charm.

Basimilus Iteritas Alter and Manis Iteritas are then send trough the Zoia Euroburo in an easy delay and reverb patch I created.

Erica Synths PĒRKONS HD 01 jam with my Eurorack, Syntakt, Digitakt and Push 2

"Maybe not the best jam ever, but in this one I was trying to have the PĒRKONS play with the other mates in my team. Not so easy to tame that monster. Had a lot of fun playing with it.

In this setup I multitracked the four mono voices of Perskons into Ableton and added some effects (mostly Delay and Reverb) and some EQ to filter the low end. I use the Basimilus Iteritas Alter and Manis Iteritas in the rack, sequenced by the Syntakt, that also has a baseline on track 11."

"Sunday afternoon jam with the Polyend Play sequencing the Perfourmer and its smaller sibling, the Vermona Mono Lancet. Great to drive these two machines into gritty territory. All percussion is also sequenced from Play. I use six patterns to navigate through the track manually."

"I was slightly carried away during this performance, so please excuse the length of the video :-)

I used the new Polyend Play as the main sequencer for my modular system and of course as a sample player / drum machine for all things percussive. The Play is extremely fun and comes with a lot of performance tricks - but mostly for the sample section, the Midi implementation is pretty standard, but allows a very flexible routing to different chanels (USB or Midi) even within one track.

In my little setup I send two of the midi tracks are running into the Intelijel Midi module and from there to Erica Synths Bassline and Noise Engineerings Manis Iteritas. The midi clock is also used to trigger Pamela and a couple of other devices that need a proper clock.

The main voices are then send into Imitor Versio and finally into FX aid.

Everything is recorded live into Ableton (that is also playing a very subtle pad across the whole piece, modulated with a couple of LFOs.)"

Torso T-1 Ambient Session

"I had a lot of fun with the Torso T-1 the last days. Such an inspiring and different way to create music. It is more like observing the device creating music for you. But you still guide the direction. And then it can play its track for hours, always slightly changing and evolving. Like this piece.

Here I sequence a couple of different tracks within Ableton. Two voices play the Grand Piano Stretch, three tracks use instruments from the Modeselector pack and everything else is drums and percussions."

"I was keen to try the Syntakt with my small Eurorack. With the new scales feature, this is probably the best box for external Midi. I trigger two voices in the Rack: Basimilus Iteratas Alter and Manis Itertitas. Both run then through a filter and into Imitor Versio. Slow modulation is coming from Maestro. I feed the audio back into Syntakt and run the full signal through Oto Boum for compression and drive. Have fun!"

Elektron Syntakt Ambient piece with Digitakt, Hologram Microcosm and Strymon Nightsky Reverb

"The Syntakt has a lot of potential to go way into ambient territory. Especially in combination with reverb and effects pedals. In this setup I send the right channel of the Syntakt through the Fairfield Circuitry Shallow Water (for analog warmth and tape delay effects), then trough the Hologram Microcosm (in Mosaic mode) and finally through the Strymon Nightsky for some additional delay and reverb. Instant goose pimples ;-)"

Torso T-1 Performance Demo with Spitfire´s new GAIKA - War Island pack

"While further exploring the possibilities of the Torso T-1 I received an email form Spitfire Audio with their latest release: GAIKA - War Island. A perfect start point for an easy setup. After quickly arranging different sounds of the pack across the 16 tracks in my T-1 template I was ready to put some triggers here and there. Hit record on the cams - and here we are. So easy and so much fun to create stuff with the T-1. I am just touching the surface here and use mostly mutes to change interest. But there are way more option with Cycles, randomization and probabilities...."

"This is an amazing little synths. And a very affordable one with only 209€ for the assembled version or only 139€ for the DIY kit. In this session I sequenced it with the Torso T-1 and used Fairfield Circuitry Shallow Water for non cyclical vibrato, chorus, flanger-type effects with old tape flavours."

Vermona Perfourmer MK2 with (iOS) Fugue Machine and Other Desert Cities

"This is one patch I wanted to setup months before I finally got hold of a Vermona Perfourmer: I use the beautiful Fugue Machine to play a very easy sequence. Each playhead feeds one of the four Midi channels of the perfourmer. The audio is recorded into Ableton, where I add the Other Desert Cities plugin by Audiodamage with the Sky Valley Granular Delay algorithms for some additional granular pitch-shifting chaos."

"First performance with my new Vermona Perfourmer. This is the first device, that I immediately felt very comfortable with. Such a joy to play and wiggle all the knobs. For this take I send one of the VCOs directly through the Fairfield Circuitry Shallow Water pedal to add some additional warmth and motion. The piece is sequenced from Ableton live and multi track recorded. I added some additional effects via VSTs."
