Freak is amazing premium module from Vult. Its possibilities turned out to be so wide and do not fit into the picture of an ordinary filter that I decided to make a video and show the use of the module in not quite typical situations.

Achieving Filthy Nirvana with Knobula Kickain and Vult Freak

video upload by Red Means Recording

"A filthy look at two fun modules.
The Knobula Kickain is a kick drum module with reverb and stereo spectral sidechaining.
The Vult Freak is a super multi-mode filter with a TON of awesome filter models.
We'll give them both a nasty workout with our good friend, the Modbap Osiris wavetable oscillator.

VCV Rack & Eurorack - They can't hold Us

Published on Jul 7, 2019

"This one is nice and dirty... It's also the first recording with the new Freak filter, which sounds beautiful and adds lots and lots of character to the sound.

More about the Vult filters - https://www.vult-dsp.com/hardware?fbc...

Here are some patch notes:
-------------------------------------------
I started this one by recording a short sequence of the FM-OP in VCV Rack into Morphagene and reversing it.
Neutron is going through Freak in Rescomb mode, and through another virtual Freak in Vorg LP mode. It's receiving pitch and gates from the Beat Step Pro and goes also through Chronoblob2 from Alright Devices.
The O Coast is being sequenced by the ADDR Seq in VCV Rack, which is going through Fate from the Geodesics for some extra spice in the sequence. It's going through the overdrive and the delay of the Neutron.
I send a gate from the BeatStep Pro to the Steiner Parker filter from Vult and ping it. This gives this round percussive sound.
The MicroFreak is going through another Chronoblob2, and with the Midilar I turn the delay loop on and off and also change the delay time.
With the Keystep I play the XFX Wave oscillator from Blamsoft, and with the Midilar I control the position of the wavetable.
The BeatStep Pro is the master clock, sending a clock to VCV Rack, and also to the O Coast and Neutron."

Vult DSP Freak Manifold Lateralus Sequence

Published on Feb 26, 2020 Robert Shipe

"Vult DSP Freak Manifold Lateralus (Moog Ladder Filter digital model 6, 12, 8 and 24dB options). You can throw a lot of modulation at it. Sounds gnarly, behaves a bit differently than an analog filter too. MI Plaits tri/saw/square/sync sequenced by Arturia KeyStep/Mutable Yarns. Modulated by a Blue Lantern Digital ADSR and Phobos Lunar LFO. Quantized by o_C Meta-Q. When I have the time I'll try to do a short vid for each filter model. Like usual I decided it sounded neat so I recorded it spontaneously. Very fun, cool, inspired filter.

The WAV file for this performance is available on my Patreon page - https://www.patreon.com/posts/38992651

Here are some patch notes:
--------------------------------------------------
- I have a piano loop recorded on Morphagene and on Nebulae. Nebulae is playing this loop at a lower speed, and it's going to the Microcell for some reverb.
- The 1U Noise Tools is triggering the Basimilus at a low rate.
- I have a few notes recorded on Arbhar, just a simple sine wave, and this is going to Freak in Debriatus mode for some saturation.
- I've recorded another segment on the Mimeophon, 2 notes with Plaits in Filtered Noise mode.
- I recorded another sine wave line on Magneto, which is set to Shift mode.
- I'm using the PRTC model on Vraids (Braids on the Vult Freak), and this is going to the 2HP Freez.
- I'm using the 1st clock output of Magneto to trigger the Disting in dual S&H mode, and this is triggering and modulating the 2HP Freez."

Vult Modules Series - Julste\Nurage Low-Pass Gates

Published on Oct 4, 2018 Omri Cohen

"In this video, I take a closer look at Julste and the new Nurage Low-Pass Gates. Both have different features and different sound. Julste is a part of the free Vult modules and Nurage is in the Vult Premium bundle, and also a part of Freak and Incubus, but without the Vactor and VCA functions. I start by looking at all of their features, and then there are, of course, some examples.
Here are all the different patches - https://bit.ly/2Rs3pHW"

Ripples - Wine Glasses, Morphagene, Mimeophon, VCV Rack, O Coast, Neutron, Una Corda

Published on Oct 27, 2019 Omri Cohen

"I had the idea to record myself playing on wine glasses into the Morphagene. I could find only 3 wine glasses but I enjoyed the result.

You can get the WAV file and individual stems on my Patreon page - https://www.patreon.com/posts/31030200
And also the VCV Rack patch file -

Here are some patch notes:
- I've tuned the Wine Glasses to 3 notes and recorded them into the Morphagene with the Zoom recorder.
- In VCV Rack, I have VCV Host loaded with Kontakt and Una Corda and I'm sending it first through Vult's Freak (hardware) for some extra warmth and then into the Make Noise Mimeophon which is acting as a looper.
- The Make Noise O Coast is receiving a sequence from the Keystep and goes into Chronoblob2 and Clouds inside VCV Rack.
- The oscillators of the Neutron are tuned to 2 different notes and I switch them with the Mix knob. It goes then to the Vult Steiner Parker filter (Hardware).
- In VCV Rack, I have Orca's Heart sequencing a few FM-OPs which are going through a reverb but also through a stereo filter and another Chronoblob2.
- With the Midilar controller, I bring some voices in and out, and I also control the FM amount and Feedback amount of the FM-OPs. I also have control over the delay time of both Chronoblobs and the freeze function."

Eurorack acid - TB 303 style modules

video upload by John Schussler

"If you listen to techno, you listen to the Roland TB-303. It's the sound of acid, and is such a unique sound that everybody wants and uses it.

Although several makers are selling clones in the original 303 design (with the sequencer and original layout), you may just want to get one in Eurorack without all the fuss of learning the 303 sequencer interface (it's not intuitive).

Here are a bunch of 303 modules that either include all the parts (VCF, VCA, envelope, accent, glide...the works) or just one part (the VCF, which is the most critical bit).

There are others as well, these are just the ones I happen to have...."

Prickly Pear - Lúbadh, Arbhar, Morphagene, VCV Rack, Magneto, Basimilus, Mimeophon, Freak, Nebulae

Omri Cohen

You can find additional resources available from Omri Cohen at https://www.patreon.com/omricohen

"Here are some patch notes:
--------------------------
- I recorded a short loop with Janso from Felt Instruments into Morphagene, and this is going directly to the mixer.
- I also recorded it into Arbhar, which is going through Flame, the analog distortion model on Freak from Vult.
- I have a sample of The Hollow Men by T.S Eliot on Nebulae, which is playing it back slower and it's also going through a tape delay on the Disting, which is being modulated by S&H from VCV Rack. I also modulate the Size function from VCV Rack.
- The Basimilus is being triggered by the 1U Noise Tools from Intellijel, and it's going the LedRover from VoicAS and the Mimeophon from Make Noise.
- I have another Freak loaded with the Vraids firmware (dual Braids), and one channel is set to PRTC mode and the other to NOIS. The PRTC is going to the 2HP Freez module, which is being triggered and modulated from VCV Rack, and the NOIS is going to the Microcell.
- I recorded the Cello from Felt Instruments into Magneto from Strymon, which is in Shift mode so it adds overtones to the sample.
- I recorded a short sequence from VCV Rack with an FM voice into the first channel of Lúbadh, which is playing it back in reverse, and I'm modulating the Start function from VCV Rack.
- I also recorded another voice from VCV Rack, a PD voice, into the second channel of Lúbadh , and it's playing it back slower.
- I'm in love with Lúbadh... "

newrAd - Mimeophon, Freak, VCV Rack

Published on Sep 29, 2019 Omri Cohen

"So I wanted to try something I saw in a video from Andrew Huang about the Mimeophon (link below). Marbles from Mutable Instruments is sequencing Rings, which is going through a stereo filter, Freak from Vult in this case, and from there to the Mimeophon. Stages is modulating the frequency of Freak and also a few parameters on Rings. Anyway, Rings into Mimeophon anyone?

5 Patchlets with Freak from Vult

Published on Oct 20, 2019 Omri Cohen

"Five little patches I've recorded with the hardware version of Freak from Vult, a stereo multi-mode digital filter. There is no processing what so ever to the sound, no compression, EQ, distortion, or whatnot. The only thing added is a limiter to keep the levels from clipping.

All of these modules for a lousy lightsaber sound...

video by Omri Cohen

"Here are some patch notes:
- This sound is built out of 4 layers.
- The first layer is Saich going to a low pass filter on Freak, and from there to the Desmodus Versio. I have the Y output of Planar2 opening the main filter, and the X output opening the filter for one channel so there's movement in the stereo field.
- The second layer is Plaits in FM mode, going through the Mimeophon. The Y output of Planar2 is opening the level of Plaits, and the X output changing the FM amount.
- The third layer is the Ts-L (pulse output) going through an analog low pass filter from Vult, and from there, to the Imitor Versio. The Y output of Planar2 is opening the filter.
- The fourth layer is also coming from the Ts-L but I'm using the square wave an octave down. This is going to another Freak with a comb filter and from there to the Vorg filter from Vult. The Y output of Planar2 is opening the filter, and the X output is changing the frequency of the comb filter.
- I didn't add any effect or anything after the fact, it's all coming from the case."

You can get the WAV file for this performance on my Patreon page - https://www.patreon.com/posts/36169541

Here are some patch notes:
--------------------------------------------
- I'm sending a gate from one of the channels of the KSP's drum sequencer to ping a Vult filter, which is going through Ledrover for some overdrive and ReduXer for some bit crushing. This is going to VCV Rack for delay with Chronoblob2.
- I'm using the Mimeophon as a voice and I'm controlling its pitch with another channel of the KSP. I'm recording it into Magneto in looper mode.
- I'm also sending the Mimeophon to the Microcell for extra texture.
- I have 2 channels of the KSP sequencing 4 Basal oscillators from Vult in different octaves. They're also going through dome delay and reverb.
- I'm using the KSP in control mode to control the level and timbre of the sequences.
- In VCV Rack, I'm using Battery 4 from Native Instruments for drums, and I'm sequencing them with the drum sequencer of the KSP.
- I have a Kalimba recorded in Arbhar, which is going through a comb filter on the Freak filter.
- In VCV Racki, I have another voice, an arp, going to another Freak filter in BP Vortex mode.
- I have a sample on the Morphagene, which is going through a rotary effect in VCV."

Patch notes :
-----------------------
- I use the Mimophon as a voice with its feedback all the way up, and I'm playing it with the Keystep. It's then going through the Disting in stereo delay mode with a nice long feedback.
- I switch the v/oct cable of the Keystep from the Mimeophon to the O Coast and record it into a looper in VCV Rack.
- I then switch the cable again to a self-oscillating filter on the Freak module from Vult, and record it into another looper in VCV Rack.
- I record the flute directly into the Morphagene with the Zoom H6 recorder.
- In VCV Rack I have a sequence going with the Seasons sequencer, sequencing both the Woldemar oscillator and an FM-OP which is going through Clouds.
- Also in VCV Rack, I play the Cozmic oscillator with the Keystep through Midi.
By the way, Lulaah in Hebrew means a loop..."

---------------------------
- I've recorded a piano loop into Magneto and I'm playing it back in half speed. I'm also triggering its revers function with a random trigger from VCV Rack, and it's going through Microcell for some reverb.
- I have the Noise Tools from Intellijel generating a pulse that triggers the BIA, which is going through LedRover and being mixed into the Mimeophon.
- I have a recording of the O Coast on the Morphagene, which is going through the 2HP Freez and is also being mixed into the Mimeophon.
- In VCV Rack, I have an Arp going with 2 different oscillators from Vult, Vessek and Basal.
- Vessek is going through the hardware Freak and back in VCV for some delay and reverb, and Basal is being mixed with the BIA and Morphagene into the Mimeophon.
- I have a Viola loop recorded on the Nebulae, which is going through another hardware Freak for distortion, and it's also going through the Disting for some reverb.
- On Arbhar I have a flute loop recorded, and I'm sending it into VCV Rack for some delay with the Chronoblob 2.
- I used the ES-9 from Expert Sleepers as my interface, sending audio and CV in both direction into and from VCV Rack."
