Yamaha TX7 (DX7 rack version) with editor/librarian

YouTube Published on Jul 30, 2012 by jerrydibella

"This one I made for a friend who asked me about using Yamaha TX7 module in conjunction with editor/librarian for computer. In my set up it runs through a Motu 828 mkII audio and midi interface, and the master keyboard used is a Korg R3, so MIDI In & OUT of Korg R3 are connected with IN & OUT of my audio interface, from Korg R3 Midi THRU I connected a midi cable into the TX7 module Midi IN. Then you just have to open the editor windows and start a new patch. I use DX7 LIBRARIAN for Macintosh, it's a freeware, and you can control every parameter in real time. It's awesome!"

If you have an iPad iDX7 - iControlMIDI should work with it as well.

Accessing the Casio CZ Series Hidden Waveforms

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
Accessed via the iCZ - iControlMIDI (iTunes) Casio CZ series editor on iPad.
Quick tutorial: The Casio CZ series are Phase Distortion synths - Casio's version FM synthesis. With Yamaha FM synthesis there are carrier waveforms and modulator waveforms. The carrier is what you hear and the modulator modulates. The DX7 has various combinations of them modulating each other referred to as algorithms. On the CZ series, and referenced below, Waves are carriers and "Window Waves" are modulators.

"We are using a Line 1 + Line 2' structure, but not using both Lines at the same time. Line 1 DCO Wave 1 is Null (Hidden Wave); Line 1 DCO Wave 2 is Sine Sync and Line 1 Window Wave is Triangle. Line 2 DCO Wave 1 is Double Sine; Line 2 DCO Wave 2 is Off and Line 2 Window Wave is Spike (Hidden Wave).
In the first part, only Line 1 can be heard.
In the second part, we are using iControlMIDI increase the DCW1 Level 1 to max which makes the Window Modulation sounds like a resonant filter.
In the third part and last, we are using iControlMIDI to add Line 2' (so with Detune) and you can hear the Window Wave Spike effect which almost sounds like a distortion whereas the Line 2 DCO Wave 1 Double Sine sounds like a back-end sawtooth.
There is a very short software delay and software chorus."

Octave Plateau Voyetra 8 SN L04813

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated. via this auction

"This is the full rev 4 version with the Digimod board and rev 4 software.

It responds to midi pitch and modulation commands from any modern midi controller so there is no need for the original VPK-5 keyboard. It can also be programmed from intuitive programs like icontrolmidi and Sound Quest.

This is the last and best version of the synth. I feel they really got it right with this version. It has every desirable feature you could possible want in a Voyetra 8. It was purchased directly from Peter Lanzilotta at Double-Take in New York in 1997 and has worked perfectly ever since. It has been used regularly and well taken care of. As you can see from the photos it is in excellent cosmetic condition. The only noticeable cosmetic issue is one bent heatsink fin. There are a few insignificant marks in the textured metal housing. The face of the unit is amazingly clean."

JD-990: Super JD Ringer - iControlMIDI for iPad Audio Demo

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

"We are using a 4 Tones Patch with Ring Modulation, but not using all Tones at the same time. Tone A is Wave 195: Loop 4, Tone B is Wave 10: Pulse Mod, Tone C is Wave 144: Syn Vox 2, Tone D is Wave 3: FAT Saw.

In the first part, only Tone B and D can be heard, then we are using iControlMIDI to fade-in Tone A TVA Level which makes the Ring Modulation effect kicks in.
In the second part, we are using iControlMIDI to fade-out Tone A TVA Level and Unmute Tone C.

In the third part, we are using iControlMIDI to change Tone C pitch one semitone at a time, creating a glissando effect.
In the fourth and last part, we are using iControlMIDI to fade-in and fade-out Tone A TVA Level.

There is a very short software delay, software chorus and a high-end hardware reverb."

DSI Mopho - 80s ARP

"We are using the 2 Sub Oscillators and the ARP 2-octave up & down to create the sound; then sequencing 2 notes, 1 octave apart which is creating the 3 octaves sequence basis.
The first part of the sequence, only DCO 1 can be heard.
The second part of the sequence, we are using iControlMIDI to slowly move the DCO Mix towards DCO 2; which has a high pitched Oscillator modulated by LFO 1.
The third part of the sequence, we are using iControlMIDI to change the LFO1 Waveform from Square to Random, then back to Square.
The fourth and last part of the sequence, we are using iControlMIDI so fade out the VCA.
There is a high end (hardware) reverb.
There is no drum machine and only one track / one sound."

PPG Wave EVU with Ipad Controller

YouTube ploaded by MrAnalogean on Mar 28, 2012

"The PPG EVU is basically a rack version of the Wave 2,3. Up until now it was however only controllable through the Wave keyboard or a Waveterm. Now thanks to a new iPad App from iContolMIDIDesign, and updated EPROMs (Version 8,3) from Virtual Music it is now possible to use any midi keyboard and control the parameters of the EVU using the iPad app. This opens up endless possibilities of tuning in and changing the existing sounds of the EVU. This particular EVU will be up for sale at Wavemeister.net"

iPulseV201 v1.2 Wired and Wireless CoreMIDI iPad Editor Now Available‏‏‏‏‏‏

YouTube Uploaded by iControlMIDI on Feb 3, 2012

"Apple has released iPulseV201 v1.2 our Wired and Wireless CoreMIDI iPad Editor for Waldorf Pulse / Pulse+ v2.01

As it is in the Waldorf family, we are providing a workflow similar to the iControlMIDI editors for the Blofeld and Microwave 1.

iControlMIDI has all the Pulse parameters sonically logically organized; like OSC Pages with OSC modulations, VCF Page with VCF modulations and envelop, VCA Page with VCA modulations and envelop.

As usual iControlMIDI will display the parameter name ex: OSC Shape and the parameter value ex: Saw.

To offer an even better user experience, iControlMIDI displays some numerical parameter in % (ex: OSC Pulse Width and VCF Key Tracking); Hz (ex: LFO Speed) or BPM (ex: ARP Tempo); rather than plain numbers.

In order to offer an even faster workflow:
• iControlMIDI automatically enables OSC Pulse Width parameter if the OSC Shape is equal to Pulse or Cross Modulation
• iControlMIDI automatically disables OSC Pulse Width parameter if the OSC Shape is equal to Saw or Triangle
• iControlMIDI automatically enables Modulation Source and Modulation Destination parameters if the Modulation Amount parameters is different than zero
• iControlMIDI automatically disables Modulation Source and Modulation Destination parameters if the Modulation Amount parameter is equal to zero

The Pulse and Pulse+ can be edited using the following Pages:
• Page 1: OSC1 and OSC1 Modulations
• Page 2: OSC2 and OSC2 Modulations
• Page 3: OSC3
• Page 4: Noise, External In (+), CV2 (+), OSC Pitch and Pitch Modulations
• Page 5: VCF, VCF Modulations and VCF Envelop [ENV1]

Tetra Poly Acidity - iControlMIDI SoundCloud Demos

iControlMIDI makes iPad editors for various synths.

"Tetra Poly Acidity is here to illustrate how creative you can be with iControlMIDI. The basis is a simple sync sound.

We are setting Sequencer 1 (it’s a 16-Steps sequence with Step-5 @ D#0, Step-6 @ C0 and Step-7 @ C0) to modulate DCO1 Frequency and LFO1 at 2-Step Frequency, Square wave to modulate DCO2 Frequency.

The first part of the sequence is just a C1 note, we are using iControlMIDI to change the pitch of Step-10 and Step-14 to C0.

The second part of the sequence, a C2 note (1/16th of a beat off) is kicking in and we are using iControlMIDI to remove Step-10 and Step-14, to change the Filter Cutoff and Resonance; as well as feeding DCO1 to the filter input.

The third and last part of the sequence, we are adding a C3 note (1/16th of a beat off), and we are using iControlMIDI to change the filter KB tracking.

Hard to do that on a TB!

There is a (software) delay and a high-end (hardware) reverb.
Enjoy!"

iK3m v1.2 Wired and Wireless CoreMIDI iPad Editor Now Available

YouTube Uploaded by iControlMIDI on Jan 13, 2012

"Apple has released iK3m v1.2 our Wired and Wireless CoreMIDI iPad Editor for Kawai K3 / K3m.

iControlMIDI for the K3 / K3m offers a very intuitive workflow that will help “open-up” the synth:
• Substrative Synthesis: as usual iControlMIDI will display the parameter name ex: DCO Wave and the parameter value ex: Saw and the parameters are sonically logically organized: DCO Page with DCO modulations, VCF Page with VCF modulations and VCA Page with VCA modulations.
• Additive Synthesis: you can do it in 3 simple steps!
Step 1: You have a visual representation of the 128 harmonics and you can adjust the harmonic level for each of them - but this will not send any MIDI message at this step in order to not overload the K3 / K3m;
Step 2: Then, with one button (ADD “Send!”) you can send your additive synthesis wave (first 32 non zero-level harmonics only) to the K3 / K3m Internal Additive Wave;
Step 3: Then, to offer pseudo-real-time workflow you can press the TONE 1 “Send!” button which will send all the Substrative Synthesis parameters to Internal TONE 1 and send a MIDI Program Change for TONE 1 which will let you hear your Additive Wave inside the TONE 1 if you have selected DCO Wave 32 (Additive) for DCO1 or DCO2. Sweet! Of course you should back-up your TONE 1 and / or Internal Additive Wave to the cartridge or your computer before.

The K3 and K3m can be edited using the following Pages:
• Page 1: DCO, DCO Modulations, Additive “Send!” button and TONE 1 “Send!” button
• Page 2: VCF, VCF Envelop, VCF Modulations and LFO
• Page 3: VCA, VCA Envelop and VCA Modulations
• Page 4: Additive Synthesis Harmonic 1 to 32 levels
• Page 5: Additive Synthesis Harmonic 33 to 64 levels
• Page 6: Additive Synthesis Harmonic 65 to 96 levels
• Page 7: Additive Synthesis Harmonic 97 to 128 levels"
