Korg Prologue -|- demo by Jexus / WCOG (B-ROLL)

video upload by Jexus (sounds-for-synths.com)

"No talking demo of Korg Prologue. All patches custom-made by Jexus. I did not use any external FX in the demo; all the delays, phasers, noises and other effects are part of the Prologue engine & my intentional patch design. I did not use the onboard LF Comp but I used some slight EQing on some patches. I recorded my demo straight through an audio card. This is a standard factory Prologue unit – you don’t need any custom oscillators, FX or other addons (just the factory „Waves” oscillator).

Arturia Microfreak does it all | 130 custom patches (for music, soundtrack, games).

video upload by Jexus (sounds-for-synths.com)

http://sounds-for-synths.com/jexus-synth-patches/

"No talking demo. All patches custom-made by Jexus. As you all know the Microfreak is monoaural and has no onboard FX. It sounds slightly different and more “stereo” in my demo because some of the sounds have been EQ-ed, and many of the sounds have a chorus and / or stereo delay & reverb applied (but nothing that would dramatically alter the original timbre of the synth like phasers, flangers, pitch shifters, etc). The dry / wet mix ratio is usually 20:80 (or 20% in other words), reaching 50:50 in a few patches (I used the simplest presets on a Lexicon MX). I wanted to make the sounds nice for the ear but I also wanted show the true sound of this synth without too much embellishment or experimentation."

100 Yamaha FS1R Sounds - Demo Videos

100 FS1R Sounds - part 1

Uploaded on Jul 19, 2010 stickyfox

2nd video below.

"I couldn't find a decent demo of the FS1R on here, so I figured I'd run through the sounds. These are the factory voices with no additional processing. My original intent was to do a voice-over as well, but you may have wanted to hear the sounds (go figure), and not my Ben Stein-esque drone of opinions of each sound, so I will put that in the annotations layer instead, where you can turn it off if you like.

The FS1R is an eight-operator FM synth, Yamaha's only as far as I know. The number of algorithms is increased to 88, and it retains compatibility with the DX7. Additionally, the "formant shaping" engine allows very intricate control of
the complex FM spectrum. It works something like a vocoder or a parametric EQ with knob automation. You can hear it in the "talking" voices.

When Tom Oberheim was showing off the reissued SEM, he surprised me when he qualified his demo with, "I'm not a keyboard player." Well, I'm not a -good- keyboard player. I design, repair, and modify synths. When I play, it is usually for my own enjoyment. But I will do the best I can to give you an idea of what this module sounds like in qualified hands.

There are 512 performances on this synth. I ran through them as fast as I could and managed to get about 50 into a ten-minute clip. Despite my expedient approach I still needed to clip out some of the silent parts to fit it into two videos, so you'll notice some jumpy editing.

The internal bank is about the least exciting one, so I think I'll do another video of the preset bank, but in a slightly different format to get the best parts into ten minutes.

Shouts out to Jexus and Dr. Squ; the inspiration for this project. Next time I promise more disturbing and/or off-beat imagery mixed in with the keyboard visuals."

100 FS1R Sounds - Part 2

Uploaded on Jul 19, 2010

"I couldn't find a decent demo of the FS1R on here, so I figured I'd run through the sounds. These are the factory voices with no additional processing.

By the halfway point I was getting better at cycling through the sounds, but I still had to cut a lot out to fit it all in less than ten minutes. The editing is not the smoothest here, but there it is.. a hundred FS1R sounds. Next video will just feature my favorites.

I've got a couple more underrepresented pieces here, so we'll see how my free time comes along with the new job.

Shouts out to Jexus and Dr. Squ; the inspiration for this project. Next time I promise more disturbing and/or off-beat imagery mixed in with the keyboard visuals."

Watching this video in standard quality renders it quite useless. But even if you choose high quality version, you will still hear some cracking noise present due to the YT compression algorithm. THE SYNTH IS NOT ROUTED THRU ANY OVERDRIVE EFFECT."

Peak / Summit - part 2 (250 custom patches / presets)

video upload by Jexus

"No talking demo of Novation Peak & Summit. All patches custom-made by Jexus. I did not use additional FX in the demo, all the delays, reverbs, noises, loops and other effects are part of the Peak / Summit engine & mod matrix.

---

So I bought the Summit and made patches for it and then learned that they won't be accepted by the Peak. So then I bought the Peak and recreated the patches in Peak format. Then, when I was auditioning the patches on Peak and Summit simultaneously I thought they sounded cool together. So I decided to make a video this way. So I had to buy a new widescreen camera and a new capture card. Then I realized I also needed to upgrade my video editing software and change some plugins. So everything is different;)

Additional info about the setup: the patches will work and sound the same on Peak and Summit. By saying "chained" I mean just the Midi connection. The Peak is receiving all notes and knob info from my Summit (via a Midi cable). The synths are playing the exact same patches, but they are producing the audio independently and you are hearing Peak in the left channel of your headphones and the Summit in the right channel. The voice architecture / allocating is unaffected and unchanged - take a look at the "voice LEDs" on the Summit and Peak. When I hit a key and the patch is for example a 3-voice patch, you will see three LEDs blinking on the Peak and also three LEDs blinking on the Summit (and what naturally follows, if I use another finger to hit another key so that 2 keys are depressed, three new LEDs will light up, totalling in six). So the patches are not exceeding the voice count of the synths - you don't need to do any tricks to play them the same way I'm playing them;)
