Behringer CRAVE Sequencer: Ratcheting!

Published on Feb 7, 2019 mootbooxle

"You can easily do ratcheting per step on the Crave’s sequencer! Holding SHIFT and turning the glide knob allows you to select 2, 3, or 4 “ratchet” steps per actual step of the sequence. The effect I’m using on the Crave is a Strymon El Capistan tape echo emulation. Shot on iPhone X with Roland Go:Mixer Pro!"

Behringer CRAVE Sequencer: Building patterns, Transposing, Jamming

Published on Feb 8, 2019

"Here I build a couple sequences on the Crave using a few of the more advanced features of the sequencer. I’ll get more complex in future videos. The main thing I want to show is the ability to transpose the sequence on the fly. Again featuring the Strymon El Capistan and filmed with iPhone X using Roland Go:Mixer Pro!"

"On The Run" Reconstructed by Moot Booxlé

Published on Nov 2, 2018

"I completely reconstructed Pink Floyd's synth classic "On The Run" using my Synthesizers.com and STG Soundlabs modular synthesizer. The main sequence was played from a Korg Minilogue, synced to an SQ-1 sequencer, which is playing the percussion sounds. The key ingredients to making this sound authentic are the STG Soundlabs Mixer and Sea Devils Filter, which is a recreation of the classic filter used on the original.

There are two sounds that required some additional processing:
The panning, whooshing sound at the beginning of the track was created by running white noise through a Leslie simulator (Amplitube 3).
The explosion at the end was created by "crashing" my Q115 Reverb (Accutronics) tank and then digitally lowering the pitch. It still didn't have enough impact so I layered an actual explosion sound underneath.

Knobcon: Polyfusion Modular Synthesizer Returning After 40 Years

Published on Sep 10, 2018 Synthtopia

Some fascinating history with early Moog Music covered in this one.

"Here's an interview with one of the creators of the classic Polyfusion 2000 modular system, Ron Folkman.

Folkman is working with partners Jim Soloman and Jammie Logan to reissue the original system, and to create a new line of updated modules. They were showing the 1979 Polyfusion 'monster' of Toto's Steve Porcaro, 'Darius'.

Synth master Matt Baxley, aka Moot Booxle
(https://www.youtube.com/user/mootbooxle), also stopped by to check out the vintage Polyfusion monster synth."

MOOT MODS #1: Mootifying the ARP Odyssey

In this episode, I demonstrate the ARP Mootifier - a little box that adds functionality to the ARP Odyssey that some people may not know is possible!"

Great tip on how to make an Odyssey monophonic rather than duophonic.

ARP Odyssey vs. Minimoog ROUND 2: The Rematch!

Published on Oct 4, 2016 mootbooxle

"Thank you, everyone, for your comments on the ARP Odyssey vs. Minimoog Funk Bass Face-Off! I decided that it would be a good idea to do another round with a more even comparison - the sounds are not 100% identical, but they're closer, and I basically played the same bass line on both synths (although I got carried away with the Moog ;P). To further level the playing field, the Odyssey was using the Mk2 (Moog clone) filter, and I defeated the envelope retriggering by patching Gate Out to Trig In to duplicate the Minimoog's legato response.

Which one did you like better?"

Part 1 here.
