Bass Processing: Effect Rack Presets for 808 Lovers
Add these two new presets onto their own auxiliary tracks, send your 808 to them, then dial in by taste. Use automation to add further tweaks to morph the sound!
Bass Processing: Synth Bass Edge with Soundtoys FilterFreak
Learn how to quickly add some extra analog edge/sizzle/vibe to synth bass, virtual or otherwise with FIlterFreak. This little trick works on almost any source. Give it a try!
Watch how a classic bass destruction trick can be used on either a parallel aux track 100% wet, or directly on the bass track blended in with the Mix knob.
Parallel processing is the method of sending the original dry signal to another auxiliary track, processing it extremely, and then dialing it back in with the dry signal. This helps preserve the clarity of the original timbre while emphasizing whatever fx you wish to add in a very subtle manner.

3. Rhythmic Modulation Basics
Take a quick tour of Rhythm Mode in FilterFreak for a better understanding of how to use rhythmic modulation in Soundtoys. Rhythm Mode is also a feature of Tremolator and PhaseMistress.

"Using one of my favourite new patches on the Polybrute and playing two synths at once (like some kinda pro organ man) for a fun, evolving cinematic track! Sorry about the focus issues - had my camera on the wrong setting...Some patch notes:
Rev2: A 6/8 sequence running through a whole heap of effects - reverb from Valhalla Shimmer, resonant filtering from Soundtoys FilterFreak and delay (running at 80bpm in a 110bpm track for an extra unsteady feeling) from Soundtoys Echoboy. The filter on the Rev2 opens up as the track progresses which adds resonance and lovely harmonics from both the Rev2 filter but also from FilterFreak.
Sub37: A classic thick, rich bassy patch that uses all 3 oscillators and some subtle pitch wobble for maximum fatness. Running through Valhalla Shimmer and Soundtoys Echoboy.
Polybrute: The same patch from my last video, but this time working as an awesome ethereal sounding lead. Uses an arpeggiated patch running through a 100% wet reverb - check out the previous video for more info on the patch!
Others: Percussion hits and strings that very briefly appear are from the Spitfire Audio Albion Tundra library."

I was using the Vermona Perfourmer Mk2, fed with some sequences that I created inside Ableton Live.
The Vermona Perfourmer Mk2 is organized into the following parts:
- Oscillator 1 plays the bass
- Oscillator 2 is playing some mellow ambience line that comes in after the first chorus and has a lot of reverb on it
- Oscillator 3 is playing the melody and I added a little extra distortion (Soundtoys Devil Loc)
- Oscillator 4 plays the line of the piano in the original song"
🎸 In this instrumental series I'm playing some classics of Rock/Pop music history from the 60s and 70s in some alienated electronic version. For this video I was using the Nord Drum 3P, the Arturia V Collection (MiniV + Juno) as well as the KMI Softstep. The whole set is controlled via Ableton Live.
The Drumbeat is factory preset B30 of the Nord Drum 3P, the Bass is some 3 oscillator sound with the Arturia MiniV and the organ is made with the Arturia Juno plugin.
For mixing I just used some gentle EQ and Compression (mostly FabFilter) and also some Soundtoys effects like Decapitator and Echoboy."
