Chattering Buchla
YouTube Uploaded by vgermuse on Sep 25, 2011
"This is a follow up to the 281e plays the 261e demo. This time the 281e is playing the 259e. Note that I haven't even twiddled many knobs or pressed buttons to scroll through the wavetables -- there are hours of fun ahead :-) Oh yeah, I did use the LFO from the 261e to modify the 259e LFO CV in there at the end."

Buchla 281e plays the 261e
YouTube Uploaded by vgermuse on Sep 24, 2011
"A simple real-time patching of various CVs from the 281e going into a simple constant tone in the 261e. Oh yeah, at the end I briefly patched in the 266e. The 261e is an amazing: an audio VCO, a LFO (which can go audio) and the filtering of the Timbre, Symmetry and High Order. I only used 4 of the 7 CV ins on the 261e."

threnody: september eleventh
Todd Barton, aka vgermuse, sent in a piece he composed four days after September 11, 2001. It was composed entirely in Metasynth. You can find it here. Let the player load and hit play.
I want to thank Todd for sending this in. Sometimes words can't capture what this day means to everyone across the globe.

Haken Continuum Exploration-1 looped
YouTube Uploaded by vgermuse on Jul 3, 2011
"This is a very brief exploration of Edmund Eagan's internal patch 0 for the Haken Continuum. His patch is amazingly flexible, responsive and sensitive, as are all the sounds/patches he created for the Continuum. I apologize for the poor sound quality -- just a simple flipcam, ugh. Just using a Boss RC-20 to loop the initial pass."

Buchla 222e Basic Programming
YouTube Uploaded by vgermuse on Apr 30, 2011
"This is a very, very rough hand-held flipcam video tutorial of just the most basic programming of a few pitches on three touchplates. Be sure to pause the video to check all the knob and light settings. Sorry for the blurring readout of the 223e window but my verbal explanation covers it all. And, yes, I do have a moment of verbal dyslexia and call the 259e the 295e, ugh. Hope this helps."

OBP TV Interview with Composer Todd Barton
via OBP
"He’s the man behind much of the music at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. And he says, it’s OK if you don’t even notice the music. Todd Barton’s goal is to affect the mood without being obvious."
Some synth spotting in an interview with Todd Barton aka vgermuse. You should recognize the name from numerous posts. Metasynth, the Waterphone, and a pocket theremenin get a mention along with various other instruments.
Todd is currently working on the premiere of an adaptation of Akira Kurosawa's Throne of Blood in NYC by Ping Chong.

Dracula Trio by Todd Barton
Some Halloween tracks via Todd Barton, aka vgermuse.
"Three tracks from my score to Dracula from 1983 with the KRONOS Quartet, Roland JP-8 and MC-202 et al."
"A track from my 1983 score for the stage production of Dracula. Scored for two sting quartets (the KRONOS Quartet), JP-8 synthesizer, Roland MC-202, Wulitzer electric piano, waterphone and grand pianos."

"A track from my 1983 score for the stage production of Dracula. Scored for two sting quartets (the KRONOS Quartet), JP-8 synthesizer, Roland MC-202, Wulitzer electric piano, waterphone and grand pianos.
This is an excerpt from a 12 minute piece.
For the synthgeeks, the multiple MC-202 sequences were tape-synced and all JP-8 tracks were individually performed onto an old Tascam 1/2" eight-track tape deck."
See the Halloween label below for more. BTW, if you have anything you want to send in for the holidays, send it to matrixsynth at gmail.com. The general rule for posts is they have to demo specific synths you can identify, but for holiday posts I'll typically make the exception as long as they are remotely synth related.
