FIRST PRODUCTION MATTSON MINI MODULAR 07A-0001 SYNTHESIZER

FIRST PRODUCTION MATTSON MINI MODULAR 07A-0001 SYNTHESIZER from RED MARTIAN on Vimeo.

"Here is the first production model Mattson Mini Modular analogue synthesizer serial number 07A-0001.
All sounds in this recording were produced on the MMM using the production run modules.
The percussion sounds were sampled and arranged on an Akai MPC-1000. The bass line was sequenced in Logic and the saw leads were recorded as performed.
The bass and lead sounds are produced using three oscillators in tune with various setting differences. The Jim Patchell filter is run with both LP and BP outputs run into stereo VCAs.
The only effect used is reverb from a t.c. electronic M-One."

MAKE presents: The Resistor

"Simple, commonplace and absolutely vital to our electronic world - take a closer look at the current-fighting backbone of circuitry, the resistor!"

Nanospheres and Tunnel Vision

Nanospheres from Hans-Jörg Scheffler on Vimeo.
"The Artmatic engine is capable of producing stunning fractals.
Here are a few examples.
I arranged them in V-Track and added some music composed in Logic8 on my Macpro using only Spectrasonics Omnisphere for all the sounds including the percussion.
This features one of the boys choir phrases named Kyrie."

Tunnel Vision from Hans-Jörg Scheffler on Vimeo.
"This is a clip that shows Omnisphere in a more trance like setting.
It is also a tribute to all the people in the Spectrasonics development team that made this wonderful softsynth possible.
They are all mentioned in the splash screen in the final scene!
Thank you very much indeed!

I rendered the video in Artmatics V-Track and composed the music in Logic 8 on my Macpro.
All the sounds including the drums are coming from Omnisphere!"

Some new photoshopped Pro-12s are up on PRO 12. I kind of like this one.

Some Notes on the Cheetah MS6

Just some interesting notes from the AH list:

via Giles Ward:
"I've got an MS6 and a Matrix 1000 and they are pretty similar. I've got the Maad OS in there, that works really well (http://www.maad.net/ms6/index.html)

There are a few subtle differences between the MS6 and the Oberheim.

- No filter FM on the MS6
- The MS6 has its LFOs shared between multiple voices instead of 1 per voice
- MS6 envelopes are linear slope
- No matrix modulation on the MS6
- Less modulation on the MS6 seems to make it a wee bit snappier
- MS6 is multitimbral
- MS6 can be front panel edited but it's slow, best to use the CCs the Maad OS provides
- MS6 looks even more like a rack-mount clock-radio

Some great mp3 demos of the MS6 here:

http://www.synthmania.com/ms6.htm

I'd say it's great for strings and pads. Makes a change from low-end Roland synths which rely on the chorus. Could be considered as a bargain Prophet 08 (same chips but less voices, knobs and modulation)."

via Chris Strellis:
"Whilst we are on the subject, the Oberheim Matrix 1000 and MS6 both use the Curtis CEM3396 uP Controllable Dual Waveform Converter / Processor

..and so does the Elka EM22 and EK22:

http://www.xs4all.nl/~awolfe/studioElkaEK22.htm

I have an EM22 and it's an OK analog with a few surprises in its sonic
arsenal - again an underrated synth.

Here's some demos of my one with reverb and echo added.

MiniMoog Model D

"MiniMoog Model D - SN6101
Custom Modifications
4 Additional internal patch points were added to the moog to allow oscillator 2 & 3 pitch to track the filter section ADSR contour and to sync to oscillator 1 frequency. This makes it possible to do classic sync effects like those introduced by the Cars. The two switches on the top left, sync oscillator 2 & 3 to oscillator 1, and the switches next to OSC 2 & 3, add pitch Control Voltage from the Modulation
Filter section."
