This is to introduce a new project called XStremeTouch which uses the Jazzmutant Lemur as a multi-touch control surface for doing cool things with a Yamaha Motif XS. It also supports iPhone and iPod Touch interaction via the TouchOSC application. Full details on http://www.xstremetouch.com.

This is not a finished product by any means but is an ongoing personal development and research project which provides you with the option to get involved and try it out if you want to!

The intention is to extend this preview version into a fully fledged suite of applications for voice editing, performance editing, step sequencing, drum management and song/pattern management on the XS as well as interacting with other synths and other manufacturer's equipment."

QMMG singing

QMMG singing from Peter Speer on Vimeo.

"My long-awaited, long-saved-for QMMG arrived today!! This is the first patch I made with it-- very simple. Filmed for posterity:

Two steady VCOs being fed into QMMG channels 1, 3 and 4.

Channel 1 is the sine out from a Tip Top Z3000.

Channel 3 is the sine out from a uLFO.

Channel 4 is the sine shaped out from the uLFO.

Channel 1 (in LPF mode) is sent to Channel 2 (in HPF mode). I had to sell my beloved Frostwave Resonator to afford this, and I figured the first patch should have some sort of connection to it, hence this arrangement.

Channels 1, 2 and 3 on the QMMG are receiving modulation from both Channel 1 and 2 of Maths.

QMMG Channel 4 is receiving modulation from a Doepfer A-143-1.

The 143-1 is also providing CV for the sine uLFO's shaped wave.

The QMMG is providing all tones beyond the two steady VCO drones.

Solvent slow acid improv w/808, x0xb0x, Modcan, Doepfer Regelwerk,...

YouTube via s0LVentCIty.

part 2 here " Hi - my name is Jason Amm and I release melodic electro(nica) music under the artist name Solvent, for labels including Ghostly International, Morr Music, and Suction Records.

You can check my music via:
solventcity.com
myspace.com/solventcity

I just wanted to get something uploaded for now, while I figure out how to use iMovie....

In the future I'll be uploading better videos, with audio from the mixer rather than the camera's built-in mic. I definitely have more-interesting tracks coming up...

OK so here is a slow acid improv. The Doepfer Regelwerk is the master clock, and is sequencing the MAM ADX-1 (high hats) and Jomox MBase-01 (kick). The Regelwerk also has DIN-sync out, so that's how the 808 is being synced. x0xb0x sequencer is receiving Regel's MIDI-clock. The Modcan is strictly being used for processing some 808 sounds.

BTW, the Modcan isn't mine, unfortunately! I had it on loan from a guy named Jeff, who makes really nice music under the name Minisystem (myspace.com/minisystem)."

Preset selection can be performed with the Value knob, or the combination of Bank footswitch, Bass Pedal, and Preset footswitch
Factory Presets include the classic Taurus, Bass, and Tuba presets, plus the new Taurus III preset
Two selectable levels of LED illuminated switches access the classic Taurus parameters or the Taurus 3 LFO and Arpeggiator parameters for editing with the Control Footwheel or the Value Knob
15-segment LED bargraph displays the value of the currently selected parameter

Classic Taurus Parameters in the OSCILLATOR section
B.FREQ: Oscillator B Frequency coarse offset to Oscillator A
BEAT: Oscillator B Frequency fine offset to Oscillator A
GLIDE: Glide Rate
OCTAVE: Low, Medium or High

ATTACK: sets the Rise time for the VCA Envelope Generator when a note is played
SUSTAIN: sets the maximum level for the VCA Envelope Generator when a note is held
DECAY: sets the fall time for the VCA Envelope Generator when a note is released

Classic Taurus Parameters in the FILTER section
CUTOFF: sets the lowpass filter cutoff frequency
RESONANCE: sets the amount of signal fed from the output to the input of the lowpass filter. Can be set for filter self-oscillation
ATTACK: sets the Rise time for the VCF Envelope Generator when a note is played
DECAY: sets the fall time for the VCF Envelope Generator when a note is released
AMOUNT: sets how much the VCF cutoff frequency is modified by the VCF Envelope Generator signal

Taurus 3 Parameters in the LFO Section
SQUARE: Radio button type switch selects the LFO square waveform
TRIANGLE: Radio button type switch selects the LFO triangle waveform
RAMP: Radio button type switch selects the LFO ramp waveform
SAW: Radio button type switch selects the LFO sawtooth waveform
RATE: sets the LFO Rate
LFO FILTER AMOUNT: sets the amount the LFO modulates the filter cutoff frequency
LFO PITCH AMOUNT: sets the amount the LFO modulates the VCOs frequencies
LFO SYNC: On/Off switch enables starting the LFO waveform cycle with each note played on the Bass Pedals

Taurus 3 Parameters in the ARPEGGIATOR Section
PATTERN: sets the pattern of the arpeggiator
ORDER: sets the order that the pattern of the arpeggiator is output
OCTAVE: sets the number of octaves for the arpeggiator pattern

THEREMIN: Yesterday, Today & Forever

YouTube via copperleaves
"Here are two performances of the Disney classic SOMEDAY MY PRINCE WILL COME performed on the same 1929 RCA theremin 53 years apart. The first version was from a broadcast of the Disney TV show, THE MICKEY MOUSE CLUB in 1956, where we see the celebrated Hollywood thereminist, Dr. Samuel Hoffman, playing for a group of mouseketeers. The second version of the song is one I recorded this afternoon (Nov. 24, 2009) on the theremin that once belonged to the late Dr. Hoffman. It is fortunate that extremely good care has been taken of this instrument throughout its life and it functions as well today as it did when it was made 80 years ago."
